  5. Well Im always in touch with the farmer weekly basis, daily if need be, spent 1,1/2 hours tea drinking today with one farmer and his wife and eating there biccies after a walk round. (essential to a shooting relationship) I can not abide messy shooters, always clear up hate leaving empty cases around although all 4 say dont worry! I still fail to see how you can be effective on such large amounts of land, with the 4 farms I shoot it added together there is a lot of land, Im lucky with the crops and which one grows what, one does beef cattle but he still has cereals. Id have to give up work with over 2000 acres to shoot lol, dont think the wife would let me some how. Im guessing that if one of the farmers who grows alot of rape thought I was protecting anothers farmers rape and leaving his Id lose the rights to shoot. On all 4 I come and go as I please, no phone calls or texts required and they trust me. they build me hides. On one farm this year he was given a load of good fencing panels so he cut them up and put them up round his land as hides for me in the right spots even a nice 4 sided one with a bale in the middle to hide behind. Well if you can manage good luck to you Regards Alan
  6. I know where your coming from 1 farm I now have 4 farms, 3 of them Im the sole shooter and 1 of them I share with the farmers friend but Ill be honest I could have more but I would be hard pressed to be effective on the 4 farms I now shoot and start shooting others as well, I did help out on some rape on 1 other farm before christmas as it was getting hammered but when I read the amount of land some of you guys have got I astounded you manage to be effective and keep the farms happy. Im guessing if I failed to turn up on any of the farms for any period of time they would think I was not interested! As it happens they have all become good friends. I visit all 4 farms every week, day and at night on my quad lamping across all 4 (Out last night with my Hmr) How you manage to keep all your land owners/tenants happy??
  7. They would require a certificate to hold, just think of deativated guns, the barrels would be plugged for a non certificate holder to possess
  8. This is my gun and it should be £450 ono Open to serious offers Alan
  9. Under 5 days in my part of Suffolk, just get a OS map of the land from the farmer and send it in. Alan
  10. I use a Sirocco on my HMR, while zeroing the Farmers HMR he couldnt believe how quiet mine was to his LEI so now has a Sirroco, £33.00 well spent. Alan

  13. No law requires you to wear a helmet on a quad while on the road!!! Alan
  14. Thanks to every one for there interest and offers but the farmer has now withdrawn the gun for sale as he wants to sell to his friend NO LONGER FOR SALE Alan
  15. Im selling this on behalf of a farmer friend as he doesnt have internet as stated it is tatty but shoots dead on, the internals of the barrel are mint and the action sound, due to its condition it is open to offers, comes with about 60 rounds, Fedral I think 50g Pm me for any other info Alan
  16. If it snapped by dropping it in two pieces Im guessing it will be some sort of aluminium alloy investment/casting, possible to tig weld but would need to know alloy constituants to match tig rod, I keep over 15 types of aluminium rods at work and theres alot more than that, you would have to strike up on the part to see how it behaved to get an idea of possible match. Alan (there are some alloys which are not weldable)
  17. Saga Export I think there called 28g, 6 shot brilliant and cheap, I used shooting pigeons on barley stubble last year damn good cartridge Alan
  18. look to the left - mirror Alan
  19. I only pay £10.00 a box of 50 for Hornady, Essex shooting supplies or Clarkes of Walsham-le-Willows, I think the dearest local that I know of is Winchester that is £13.00 for 50 or should I say was. Alan
  20. I had been with Churchill for 3-4 years always good prices then sky high this year so I did the Meerkat search and back down to reality £210.09 with everything (comp) My wife has been with Saga for a number of year £153 it hovers around that figure but my daughter came in at over £500 did the Meerkat search and got it for £317, acceptable but the situation is ridiculous. I have been with Barclays bank for a long time and in a recent phone call they asked if they could quote me for house and contents, no probs I said, like for like I pay £280 - ish, they came back at over £700 and Im really not joking, the poor girl was so apologetic Shop around it does not pay to be loyal Alan
  21. Yes very effective if placed in the right place, brings them right to you. Alan
  22. When I got my FAC all the farms I shoot for had encouraged me to to go for it, all I did was in my application provide a list of intended farms and land to shoot on with the relevent names and phone numbers, regardless of any bits of paper with written consent the police are duty bound to contact the the farms owners, tenants or agents to confirm I had indeed got permission and the land was suitable, simples. Even if your FAC was open and you had a permission slip, if you were not known to that officer or officers he or they would still have to confirm you had the authority to shoot which would mean contacting the farmer tenant or agent anyway. Alan
