  1. Well done excellent result 👍 They certainly make a very sporting target when flighting them with a shotgun going to feed even more so if you get under a flight line back to roost
  2. John that is a very kind offer that myself and Conor would eagerly except and be a pleasure to us both to meet you in person. Conor is already very excited about next season I'm sure you are very aware of his dream which he hopes with hard work along with luck to achieve next season Fingers crossed . Thank you again 👍
  3. Thank you John. Fingers crossed for Conor in the morning. As I've posted before we are not allowed to put pictures up or write about we we shoot which is a shame as i took some pictures of Conor with the Pink and pup also of the pup retrieving the Pink You have a very good end to the season and hope you have many more years to come John. If things go as planned myself and Conor will be around your area next season so will definitely have to meet you in person. Take care and good health
  4. Happy New Year John. Excellent result well done 👍 Conor also shot a Pink last morning of the year.
  5. Yep shot a lot of Geese with those before i home loaded 👍
  6. Yes the only thing both those will kill is "Your wallet" Remington and Winchester definitely used to be available in 1oz Steel but again was not cheap. Fiocchi 7/8oz was a good cartridge for Duck i used to empty the steel 4's out replace with 2's very good on geese. Having shot a 20ga for over 50 yrs just my opinion and experience (1) don't be put off by the small payload (2) Home loads are the way to go. Sorry i can't be of any more help as i Home load 👍
  7. 2.25 mm that's what the company i bought from stated. I'm more than willing to PM you my contact BUT I've not ordered any during Brexit and COVID infact the contact sent a message Christmas Eve
  8. Sorry Dave can't help as i bought mine direct from China. 8's also work very very well on flighting foreshore Geese 🤫
  9. I believe the cheapest option would be. Set of scales Lee loadall loader and a Gaep n3 crimp finisher Lil-gun powder b&p 24 wad's 70mm cases. I also bought some cork sealed tiles cheap online and a set of wad punches again cheap online. With that set up you would be able to get factory quality cartridges that will kill Geese at range 👍
  10. Better still Learn how to cook a goose. Well done to the OP first of many i hope enjoy your wildfowling career 👍
  11. As stated my father asked the question and was given the answer " no need to have your guns reproofed " as they are Superior Proofed to 1370 kg. Times and things may have changed my suggestion to anyone concerned do as father done phone both proof house's 👍
  12. The gun's I've mentioned along with a zabala o/u was proofed to 1370kg stamped Superior Proof that had been proofed in Europe so had no need to then be reproofed in UK. Obviously i saw the proof marks myself and was beside my father when he called GMK and the proof house's. Now as far as aware due to the confusion etc. Most gun's now are steel proofed with 3" chambers I personally have seen and shot Berretta EELL which has 3"chambers steel proof. I'm sure you can remember the different lead proofing 2" 2-1/2" 2-3/4" 2-3/4" magnum 3" 3" magnum 3"Super Magnum which was proofed 1200kg but if you look a lot of more modern 2-3/4" guns was also proofed for 1200kg totally confusing . Aya done two different Aya no3 ( 1 ) 3 " chambers proofed for 1-5/8oz at 1000kg (2) 3"magnum proofed for 1-7/8oz 1200kg Super Magnum. Total mine field well my Aya is Superior Proof ( self proofed ) as i use ANY Steel cartridges in it .
  13. And there lies one of the many confusions/problems as i previously posted a person from GMK stated my father's Benelli which has no fluer de lys was/is 100% superior proofed there for suitable for all steel shot cartridges also my father phoned both proof house's which told him exactly the same unfortunately i can't get any pictures of the two guns as my father recently passed away
  14. Thank you all for your kind comments 👍 Oh okay J as you nearly guessed my secret I'll tell you.🤫 Batman where's a Bat Cloak me a Goose Cloak with armour plating took a few hits in my time but dust myself down and fooling and felling them ole Geese 🤭😂🤣
  15. I am very passionate about foreshore wildfowling having first started at 11 yrs old and still as keen 50+ yrs later. You are very true about man dog weather quarry add into the mix other fowler's it can be very frustrating but one helluva buzz satisfaction and joy when the chosen quarry is delivered to the hand by your dog. This season has been even more satisfying seeing Conor achieving more first's with his first pup Drake who had another this morning retrieving his first Drake Gadwall from a steady flowing wide river ( not tidal or on the Foreshore as I would never ever put/let my dogs into those rivers )
  16. During a very successful week fowling where i had shot right and left at Foreshore Pinks with my Aya 12ga Conor's Aya 10ga and a couple of doubles with my 20ga i also had achieved this with local Grey's. I decided I'd give my 12ga pump a chance having not shot it for ages. Last weekend a double on Grey's sorted the first part of my goal. Foreshore Pink being the next a few near misses had me thinking if I'd had my Aya even Conor said I'd jinked it. Inspite of a good foggy morning the Marsh was silent of Goose talk . Had the Moon kept them inland had they become fog bound inland or returned early morning and sitting out the fog. Feeling frustrated more so for Conor who had yet to experience a foreshore flight in the fog it was now 10.45 am i decided not going to happen.. With only 100yrds or so to go to the carpark Conor said what was that staring into the fog straining my i heard the murmuring chuntering Pinks often make when flighting in fog and under the moon. Quickly sprinting to a small creek on the Marsh unslipping our guns I 100% heard them directly in front. Warning Conor get ready they will appear low and be gone in a flash the noise of the wing beats in the fog was deafening as a dozen Pinks loomed out of the Fog 32grm steel 4's found its mark not once but twice excited yes Yeees from my right confirmed Conor had shot something. Turning to Conor How many i only had chance of one shot good man well done just as Drake his pup returned with both of theirs first Fog Pink. A few seconds later my two lab's appeared with a Pink each. Conor said how the #@&£ did you manage that. Smiling i said years of practice and luck.
  17. Plenty of Berretta and Benelli don't have Fleur de lys which ( as i have done personally ) if you phone GMK they have/will confirm 100% suitable for any Steel shot cartridges as they are Superior Proofed. As for extended choke situation ( again I've personally had it done ) get a eg 3/4 extended lead choke along with a 3/4 extended Steel shot choke and they will mic up exactly the same . Along with your train of thought Scully if the gun is sound it gets steel boring as it is my old Aya gets everything from factory to homeloads and 5's down to B's Steel 7/8oz to 1-3/8oz at least 2-3 times aweek 👍
  18. Thanks Harry 👍 Have to give Conor confidence J by missing now and again 🤣😂
  19. Thank you both for your kind comments 👍
  20. Conor's bosses asked him could he possibly shoot them Goose Duck Pheasant and Partridge for Christmas also has a work friend ask me for a joint of Venison. No pressure then for us BOTH. Hedging our bets we went for morning flight taking my 6.5x55 ( which i took in its case for flight so not too leave it in my truck ) try for a Deer on the way home. Sitting beside a good flowing wide river i told Conor (1) be alert for woodcock coming across the River (2) quick reload as any will be lift at a shot. Hardly had we settled a woodcock appeared shouting Conor my voice was drowned by Bang resulting in dead Woodcock at the shot Duck erupted everywhere a quick volley of shots resulting in Conor getting Mallard Widgeon along with a single Greylag me nothing having missed four shots at Duck . Asking Conor did he want me to send my dog after his Goose which fell in the river. Assuring him his pup would be safe i watched proudly as his pup swam strongly to retrieve his Goose. As i walked to Conor praising him and his pup two Grey's appeared you take the left I'll take the right my shot stuffed my Goose Conor some how missed. A flurry of Duck activity saw me shoot a Mallard and two Widgeon. Driving back checking for Deer i spied some Chinese Water Deer ( which are Rutting ) after approximately 15 minutes i gave Conor the go ahead to try for what I knew was a very good buck. Having stalked to a point i suggested watching through my Binoculars i saw the target deer collapse followed by a moderated crack. As Conor stayed at the point of shot i took his pup to him. Having sent his pup we both watched his dog air sent then get onto the Deer encouraging Drake ( pup ) to rag the deer i stopped looked at Conor smiled gave a hand followed by a hug and well done Conor you have shot a Gold Medal CWD. Having seen and studied 32 Roe i finally found a suitable Roe Doe . Go on Grandad you shoot it I'm still shaking plus I've had so many first this. A short stalk saw the 6.5x55 drop the Roe. So a cracking morning with more first's for Conor and Drake along with long lasting memories.
  21. Yes Dave i loaded the load on the Tub using Steel 3's 2's and B's for Conor to get used to the Gun on local Grey's in preparation for foreshore Pink's. Personally I've shot a few Grey's and just over a week ago two R&L at Pink's on the Foreshore ( I have a chrono ) in myself and Conor's opinion they kill well in the shot sizes mentioned also he shot a Widgeon and Teal one morning ( after Geese had flighted ) with the B's having forgot to change them
  22. No problems mate hope it works as well as it has done for Conor on the Geese 👍
