if its the end of lead, what about .410's
6.5x55SE replied to quentyn's topic in General Shooting Matters
100% true i put a Wright up on hear about 3 possibly 4 seasons ago . Moonlight flighting Pinks with two other guests. I'm struggling with your doubting replies to be honest also where are you getting 50yrd is normal pass flighting range. I don't know about others but every flight is deference no set rule I've seen them in good wind use it to climb and flight well out of range then a frosty windless morning come in feet high. -

My truthful honest opinion shooter's have been sold down the river. Being a out and out Wildfowling i had two choices " pack up or use the card I was dealt " has i happy 100% no did i agree 100% no do i agree with what's in the pipeline 100% no. No excuse on my behalf i was trying ( obviously not very good ) to offer advice and encouragement that placed in the right spot steel will/can work . Hard to explain but i try to teach shooter's who ask shoot the gun in hand not the gauge/bore the same principle with shot oh cause i would ever attempt to shoot a Duck or Goose eg 50+ yrd with steel from a .410 TSS now that's another story 😊 -

First of all text and type does not come across as face to face speech/talk. I answered your statement honestly and truthfully through 50+ years Wildfowling coastal inland throughout the UK and Scottish Island. My comments are or was not boastful or I'm better than anyone else which also includes yourself. Wether you or Fellside believe me is both your choices. But there are several members who have witnessed my results with the gun/gauges mentioned. Short version IF and a Big IF lead is band shooting small gauge gun for myself ( and plenty i know ) won't hinder me/us. Oh and where Fellside got all the .410 steel 50 yrd from Read my reply to your post i never said or mentioned Pheasant. Anyway Life is to short enjoy your shooting what ever species you pursue with gun and shot of your choice. 👍 -

Absolute rubbish . I've shot hundreds upon hundreds of Geese and Duck ( foreshore and inland ) using steel shot from a 20ga just a a experiment I loaded BBB's in my 20 they to killed very well. 28ga I've again killed my share .410 i done a wright up about a successful moonflight after Pink's using Steel shot. Just the same as any type of shot put a pattern with penetration in the right spot the target will die. Just because you can't don't knock others than can. -
Well done to you both 👍 especially yourself . When you mount the gun are you finding that you place it then gripping it very tight. Reason being ( not for a few years ) when i regularly swapped shoulder's never a problem but now if i try i find as i described along with the gun kicks. Come next season I'm sure you will be knocked them ole Geese down as in the past 👍

That's a shame to hear 🤞 you will get the bug back. I'm lucky in having a very keen young grandson who also drive's must admit my bags have dropped due to letting him have first crack. -

Good to see you back 👍 looks a good pattern to me. I occasionally use buffer with steel B's even less with 2's but it definitely worked. Are you still getting amongst the Shep's Geese/Duck -
Long time no see speak G hope you are keeping well and still knocking them Pink's down ( during the season ) give my regards to W ( motty ) 👍

Hope you are keeping well John. Conor is absolutely buzzing and very keen to get scouting your area in preparation for next season. I know of a few shot last season 🤫 and two unlucky shooter's having given it best was back at their vehicle when three small groups dropped into the very spot they had just left 😤

I wish you the very best with your application and new adventures 👍 Let's pray we get some good hard fowling weather ( with no hard weather ban ) to swell the Black Barred numbers 🙏

Thank you 👍 🙏 Broadland

Thanks mate 👍 Conor lost interest in Carp fishing once he had caught a mid twenty. He is very keen on Wildfowling already buzzing about next season and prospects for a new club we are joining in pursuit of a chance at Whitefronts 🤞🙏

Thank you Walker570. I also enjoy reading your .410 adventures as i have used a .410 to very good effect in the past 👍
-
Thank you 👍. Not for many years Dave but i to had that problems when i used to shoot your roughly area. I was convinced the Pink's learnt to keep quiet when they had their Black and White mate's with them. Certainly kept you on your toes with a lot of swearing as you let gifts of chances go by/over followed by wink wink when the chance had . Good times though which i miss

Best Cartridges For 10 Bore Kestrel
6.5x55SE replied to Stuartph's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
What do you intend using it for !!!! Personally i bought my grandson Gamebore Rhino Steel which work very well -
Thanks Dave. Sorry to hear that your season has not been very successful . Any particular reason lack of birds or just unlucky. Must admit although we have had good success there has been plenty of if only flights where the geese really took the pee but made it even more satisfying when the dogs brought a Pink or two to hand . Has been a very special season for myself seeing Conor achieving many first's again along with him working his first Dog both of which I've been very proud to be part of and share
