  1. Been there and got the shirt. You should get a letter from the liquidators if you show on the books as a creditor, once everything is sorted you may get some of your money but I am afraid to say this is unlikely as by the time the liquidators, banks and tax man have there bit there won't be anything left.
  2. My renewal is in now, sent it off mid December and havn't heard anything yet. Cheque has been cashed though!
  3. There are lots of different quality parts available, if the garage fitted new genuine parts then these will normally be a lot more expensive. Or they may have fitted a good quality replacement part. The last thing a garage wants is the new part to fail relatively soon after it is fitted, if this happens they will then have to stand the cost of replacement.
  4. See this most weeks beating, and it still amazes me the amount they bleed (looks 100 times worse on a white dog) No need for the vets and I am sure it will heal in no time, superglue works wonders!
  5. Wow, what a bidding war! Beretta06 and Old farrier you are true gentlemen and a credit to our wonderful sport. A massive congratulations to all involved. ATB Ben.
  6. A fabulous offer, and I am surprised that nobody could fill the peg. Nothing worse than being let down last minute.
  7. I have and I am sure it was a fantastic experience sharing the space with them, things like that is what makes wildfowling truly special. I am sure another time it will be different and they will commit to the decoys perfectly. But I am no expert in anything regarding Pinks as have only ever been under them once and fluffed the chance!!
  8. Very true that man, and more often than not I find it's the chase that makes the end result even more sweet. There is nothing more rewarding than having to work to get a bird in the bag, then all those blank flights learning the behaviours and flight patterns of the birds pay off.
  9. If you want Mike I can send you a number for the windscreen fitters we use, really good guys and always a fair price. They will come to you as well.
  10. Sounds like a cracking flight, well done.
  11. I think this is now happening everywhere, and it isn't only visiting guns! Combine this with people arriving late/leaving early and poor id and it really is a bad lot. I personally find that a lot of these so called wildfowlers will stick it for 1 or 2 seasons before loosing interest.
  12. I assume jdog is referring to the 2 different species of snipe that are in the picture. Quarry identification is really important at all times but especially so when shooting snipe.
  13. Mine was having a barn owl land on the corner post of the hide I was in whilst on our flight pond! It sat there and preened for a good 2 minutes before lifting and taking a rat that was working the edge of the reeds? A truly special moment. The barn owl now seems to have taken our pond as its preferred hunting ground and nearly every time I am there either awaiting the ducks or feeding I see it.
  14. Will be out for an evening flight on the ducks, fingers crossed the weather is rough as promised!
  15. As my 13 year old would put it "man up princess" I really can't see the problem, anybody that is really young will miss the point anyway.
  16. Might be OK for close duck's, personally the smallest shot size in steel that I use is 4's and that is for close range over splashes. My normal duck load is 36g 3's. The general rule for steel is move up 2 shot sizes, so your 5's are the equivalent of 7's in lead.
  17. Needs to be non toxic if in England, so that means steel, tungsten or hevi shot. Steel could be out of the equation if your gun isn't proofed for steel, especially if trying to find a goose load. If your gun is steel proofed and you decide to go down the steel route then finding a load that is good for both ducks and geese will be hard. For the geese I would be looking at 1's or bb and the ducks probably a 3.
  18. Got a hudl 2 as the last tablet finally bit the dust a few weeks ago, also a bottle of jack Daniels Tennessee honey, which is very nice!!
  19. Merry Christmas to all, we will be out lots over the break but the way it is down here at the moment getting under a bird will be an achievement!
