  1. You have another message ATB S.G.
  2. I heard a fella on Simon Mayo's show the other week who said the best relief came from the nettle it's self. You should take a bunch of nettles (with covered hands), and scrunch them up until some of their juices run out. Drip these juices over the stung area & it will help better than dock leaves.
  3. Unfortunately not without a lot of work and alterations....Series axles = leaf springs and disco = coil springs If the hole in the axle case was just small, I would recommend a chemical metal repair, but if the corrosion is as bad as you say, I'm affraid that a replacement will be needed. Without wanting to sound too negative, if the axle has corroded that badly, & the front axle assembly did not look too good as I mentioned earlier I suspect that the internals, brakes & steering will also need attention. I think the project may be very labour intensive & very costly. The restoration of a vehicle from this state can run away from people's means, that is why there are so many unfinnished projects for sale out there. Still, I know that it can be a labour of love, but suggest you have a good look at he whole picture befor spending too much cash. PS If you do want to spend some money but have an easier entry into the world of land rovers, you could always buy mine off me :whistling: ATB & Happy birthday S.G.
  4. Hope you don't mind me saying but although the axle casings look nice and clean, those swivel hubs don't look the "may west"...are you looking to replace them? Keep up the good work ATB
  5. Now that does look well The bar is set high demonwolf444
  6. You should find that the drivers side springs are taller than the passenger side. You measure by taking a horizontal line through the spring bush centres and then measure to the centre point of the first leaf. This lob-sidedness is due to the weight of fuel in the tank (under driver's seat) plus the driver, so when 10 gallons of fuel + 8gun are in the completed vehicle, it should sit level. As it may be too late to measure now, I suggest that you stand at the back of the vehicle & use the "rack of eye" to see if the chassis has a slight list to port. Good luck with the re-build & if you are short of anything give me a shout as I have some left over bits from re-builds & general tinkering, although some genuine series 2A bits are hard to find & expensive. 7. In theory, yes you can shoot below the mean high water mark in Scotland, BUT... Firstly, get access to coast...armed trespass over unauthorised land is an issue. Then find an area of coast that is not a reserve as previously mentioned. Then find an area that birds are flighting over. Then find somewhere safe where you will not get cut off or drowned. The list goes on...... No coastal shooting anywhere is easy if you just turn up. Please stay safe. ATB
  8. Malmo is the best, but they are shut on wednesdays. Stephen Fawcett is also in Lancaster, & have a fair range of fishing tackle, clothing & shooting equipment too. Worth a look at whilst you are in the area as the city is a nice place & has loads of good pubs etc for lunch. We recomend the Sun Hotel or the Water Witch.
  9. You could try Peter james Insurance, I found them good .
  10. Hi I believe they call the tweed "Renwick".

  15. Hi Sorry if I was a bit vague earlier, but was dashing out to work. I generally use 1Lb of breast meat & an equal quantity of chicken livers (because most of the meat I take off birds get put into 1Lb bags & frozen to be used throughout the year as required by Mrs Sky Gipsy & me). As far as number of breasts goes, I suppose it depends on the size & fitness of the pigeons. I have just taken the breasts off some I shot at weekend, & 4 birds (8 breasts) = 1Lb 4oz. As for cooking the meat, I always like pigeon on the rare side, but tend to do the chicken livers a little longer for safety's sake (medium to well done). I suggest you try this basic recipie as is first time & the tweek to your tastes . We have added garlic, smoked garlic, juniper berries, mixed herbs, different types of liquer etc etc to subsequents batches. The pate does keep for a reasonable time in the fridge if required, so long as the butter seal is not broken, so use small ramakins if you have them. Do let me know how you get on ATB S.G.
  16. I've used this one a few times & allways turned out good Ingredients 12 Pigeon breasts, weighed Chicken livers in equal weight to the pigeon breast 12 leaves of fresh sage 1 tablespoon of sherry vinegar 1 to 2 tablespoons cognac or brandy 1/2 cup melted butter 1/4 cup heavy (whipping) cream Instructions Salt the pigeon breasts and allow them to stand overnight in the refrigerator. (You may omit this part if you like, I do.) Rinse the salt off of the meat carefully. Chop the pigeon breasts. Heat the butter in a pan until melted and beginning to foam. Add the sage and chopped pigeon breasts and cook for about 4 minutes, stirring. Remove the pigeon from the pan and add the chicken. Cook for 3 minutes. Add the vinegar and cognac. Add the pigeon breasts and liver mixture to a food processor. Pulse until finely ground and add melted butter in a steady stream. Add the cream and mix thoroughly. Taste and adjust seasoning, spoon into a serving dish or mold. Add a layer of melted butter and chill overnight.
