I have seen 391 go for around £750 to £500 witch seems alot for a ruff gun. Have a look for a old Remington 1100. They did a 3" magnum with a 30" barral and that will do the job at half the money I have a 391 and a 1100 remington. I use the 1100 all the time for ruff shooting. I just dont mind if i knock it about so much. But it would brake my hart if i hit the beretta

I like to use 3" magnums BB in 12 bore Beretta 391 there is not much recoil. I just let them into about 30yards and then they have a really bad night. Yes i know it is overkill but they don't get up and run afterwards that's for sure

I have a remington 1100. They are a great gun for the money. I have seen loads s/h guns for sale around the £250-£350 mark for that money you cant go wrong

I had a 686 game gun with an auto satety years ago with the same thing. When you push the safety catch up with your thumb. You will sometimes push the barrel selector into the middle. The gun will shoot the first shot but not the second. Hopefully this will help

I think it was shooting with my dad that started things off , but i have always had a love of thing that went bang. I used to shoot pistol and rifles and got quite good with a pitol and then they band it . I then start clay shooting, just local stuff at first. About 3 years ago i joined the cpsa and i have not really looked back. I have had a lot of fun and made some great new friends. All in all i am having the time off my life, but my lad would rather use an x box shame

There not much wrong with an 1100 . They might be a little heavy by todays guns and sometimes a pain in the bum to clean but all said and dun, for the money you can't go wrong. I have two, one for shooting, One for spairs. The 2-3/4 will shoot any cartridge i put throw it from 67mm to 70mm 2-3/4 magnum( never tried a 21gr or 24gr)in it but any 28gr plus no problem. I use mine for field work and i am not really worried if it gets a mark or too( it would break my heart if i court my beretta 391 on a fence and marked it)

Cartridge choice for different Targets
0145wirbelwind replied to Salopian's topic in Clay Pigeon Shooting
I ues 7.5 at nearly all sporting target with a 5/8 choke. I mite put a skeet choke and a 9 in for really close stuff. But I do like to keep it simple( I have been told to us a 1/4 on sporting but i just cant hit a thing with it) For DTL i just use the same cheap 7.5 but i mite use a 1/2 ,5/8 or 3/4 choke, It's just how lucky i feel at the time and for skeet i use a skeet choke with a 9. I really like plas wads ,they just seem to work better for me -
1968 remington 1100 2.3/4 . I had to put a new slide in it . It was just woren out throw years of shooting, not to bad really 1971 remington 1100 3"magnum . The action is total woren out by 3" loads but the barrel is good Mk 38 Miroku Sporter , it is 2 years old and never had a problem Beretta 391 sporter2 never missed a beat( it is proberly the best gun i have ever had)
-
I got my local gunshop to get one in. The gun looks cheap and nasty and i did not like the finnish. I did not shoot the gun , i just did not like the feel of it. It is more Benelli than a beretta. For just a bit more money i got the 391 sporter 2 witch i love to shoot It is probelly a great gun but it is not for me

I have shot one and i would love one but my pockets are not that deep

A Remington 1100 is a good start, ok it will be old, but what a gun -
It would be good to see how many form here go and see how they got on ? .( Put faces to names maybe as well)

I know it's not in Worcestershire, but give Jim Wills a ring on 01225445062 in Bath. He is about 1 1/2 hours away form you in Droitwich. He is a really top gun smith and knows his stuff

I have tied Hull intercomp that are 67mm 28gram and Fiocchi Top 1 wicth are 67mm 28gram also, They just gave me problems(jamming, sticking) and i am running the gun dry. I just stick with a 70mm now. No problem

SG1 ,sounds like you have things in hand but people DO MAKE MISTAKE. I was at a registered shot this weekend and a person came off the stand with an o/u, close the gun up and pointed the gun at us(in an under arm sort of from the hip way). I had just watched them shoot so i new the gun was empty but i was still not happy about it
-
No i think i am going to keep it for spairs, but thank's anyway
-
I only put 2 in the gun at anyone time and when the gun is not in use, i put it in the bag with the breech open
