  1. You're fortunate that your work is obviously not overly dependent on you being able to produce a well written document. Plenty of others aren't so lucky. I frequently produce reports/quotes/invoices etc and I'm certain that if they appeared to be written by a 12 year old I'd get less work! Fortunately I went to a good enough school and applied myself enough to enable me to read, write and carry out sufficient mathematics to get by.
  2. You were using Hart Bloody Offshore lure rods, I think my 265 is an awesome rod, what did you reckon?
  3. Oooh, you cad! How very dare you!
  4. ...and around it goes again in its never decreasing circle. Can someone tell me how to stop notifications of when someone has dribbled on this thread again?
  5. Goodness sakes! Just to get it nailed down now ... firmly! You're correct in the saying, manners cost nothing. A bit like the spell checker on your computer. You're - abbreviation of you are. Your- belonging to you.
  6. It's a decent bloody trek North from Brighton! Plenty far enough for a Suffener! It must be truly grim 'oop North proper, Wigan's grim enough!
  7. I had to go 'oop North once, well, Wigan-ish anyway. By 'eck it was grim! You have roads now? What? Real, tarmaced ones?
  8. S'ok, it appears he has plenty of permission, so no need for anyone to take him out.... ...well, actually that might depend on what is meant by 'take him out' actually!
  9. It's one thing I have consistently found about farmers (and most decent people to be honest), they all expect you to treat them and their land deferentially. It doesn't matter so much how many you shoot so long as you shoot decent numbers regularly and as my farmer said (tongue firmly in cheek), it costs him less than a gas gun even when you don't shoot well. Treat him badly he'll soon go and buy gas for the gas gun! I have to say JayDT10, I wouldn't have you anywhere near me or my permissions, you'd be a liability...with an expensive gun, but a liability all the same!
  10. Ok, as some may remember, I run a small syndicate shooting around East Sussex and a small permission has come up that we will struggle to service over the next few weeks. Too many pigeons and crows, not enough time! As such I'm looking for a couple of experienced air rifle hunters, or possibly a pair of one experienced, and one less so (thinking father/son type team here), to shoot this fairly hard over the next few weeks, and then maintenance shoot it once the numbers are reduced. It will be shot by other syndicate members too, but also, once I have got to know you (read, sussed you out! ) you may be offered the option to shoot some of the other land. However, at the moment it is just this land which is a couple of good warrens on a stables/riding school. You will need to be prepared to shoot this 'out of hours', no shooting while the school is open, basically this is going to mean evenings/night/early morning. The land is just outside Brighton. I should also say that I will favour members with a half decent post count, experience has shown that if you've just happened upon PW and decided to approach me, you are probably going to prove unreliable. If you're interested, PM (Personal Message) to me with a synopsis of your experience and willingness to shoot.
  11. Well, the civilised world does at least!
  12. Where do you live mate, because I'll pretty much guarantee that you aren't in the South East! You may have loads of unshot land where you are, but where I am it's mostly tied up. Agreed, indeed when chatting about on of our syndicate members who really cannot shoot anything moving at pace his comment was, "Mind you, I don't mind, saves turning the gas gun on". That said, the guys who shoot all enjoy their shooting regardless of how good they may be. We take big enough numbers for the farmer to be happy and we respect his land and stock etc, so we continue to shoot. That could easily change if someone forgot their manners!
  13. The your/you're confusion is easily cleared up. Extend the abbreviation 'you're' to 'you are', if it still makes sense then it's probably right!
  14. Maybe, I know for a fact that I'm more boisterous on here than in real life. I'd still say the same thing to your face but I tend to be more considered in the delivery in real life, if that makes me a keyboard warrior so be it, however I know there's a decent chance of meeting up with some PW'ers so, as I say, I won't say anything I wouldn't say personally.
  15. It is a tricky one, especially in the South East where I am. Permission is hard to come by, and jealously guarded. It took me a long time to get any permissions and I'll be mightily peed off if someone else loses it for me! My 'terms' may seem a little draconian to some, but, I have a good group of guys who could all lose their shooting if someone ****s up, I'll do everything I can to prevent that happening. ALL bar one of the members are on PW so they see these posts too and I've not had anyone complain yet.
  16. Bit too late for that, the clowns are in town and in full flow!
  17. I have a small syndicate shooting over a farm, a stables/riding school and a couple of smaller permissions. The guys on the syndicate are free to shoot freely as and when they can, and occasionally they ask to bring a guest. They need to show insurance and SGC as a member and I need to see the same from any guests, but I always make sure that they make it very clear that its a one off invitation, that the member is responsible for his guest and that if a 'guest' abused the offer then there would be syndicate member losing the right to shoot the grounds as well.... So far so good, but it still makes me nervous when we have guests on the ground!
  18. I have to suspect the next load a few seconds later will have a drying effect. Is it really anymore likely to introduce moisture than shooting in the rain?
  19. Why? If I mount the gun and the beads are aligned, what's wrong with the gunfit? I get what you are saying about looking at the target, but if they had no purpose, why would they be fitted?
  20. Potentially interested, do you have any more pics?? I've PM'd you my email addy.
  21. 22 over the barley this morning, decoys in the tramlines and selective shooting meaning only 1 not found and picked. Had to ignore crossing birds and only shoot what tried to pitch in. Farmers happy enough with this as he has no desire to have dozens of rotting pigeons in the field below his house! 7269
  22. Would you? Why? Seems to me that it makes it easier to line things up if you two points of reference. I like it so it stays! Indeed, very useful and I have done so, the gun is shooting straight, my question is hypothetical as I am struggling to understand the practice behind the theory. B) To be honest, I only use it as an initial check, I like it as it tells me that the rib is aligned truly, very easily. Yes it is a figure of eight and if I have that picture then the rib must be perfectly aligned with my eye. if I were to shim the stock then my eye would surely be out of alignment. So, if it appears lined up but I shoot high, how can that happen?
  23. Update so far, email now replied to and I've been asked to return it, hopefully for repair/replacement, we shall see.
