  1. Well I could tell you where to get a matched pair of Eric Claptons monogrammed Watson Bros shotguns for about as much again to add to your collection of memorabilia! ''About £17,000 would buy them" I was told.
  2. Another one received today. Many thanks Steve.
  3. More like 'We as a nation love to tear down the top dog, especially if he/she's a Brit)'.
  4. Somebody else who calls them Jaspers! Any idea of where that comes from?
  5. He is by far and away the best GP rider we've had in years and by far the most successful. He has been pretty much the best of the rest consistently, as is shown by the fact that he is 5th in the current standings behind 4 full factory bikes... ...and yet people still feel the need to criticise him. He's in the business to race bikes, not be a nice guy or make friends! To be honest, I hope he does make the Ducati work and that he wins races on it, time will tell. Typical of us Brits actually, always looking to knock a success story down. What should be happening is support!
  6. Unlikely in my particular circumstances. I only do this in the field where I generally shoot solo. At a clay ground it's in a slip until I enter the cage, then it is broken, removed and shot, before being put back in the slip before I leave the cage. Can see how it could happen though.
  7. While it's not right, this isn't the kind of bird that will end up at a game dealers, it'll be on the shooters table. Like I say though, still doesn't make it right.
  8. I think we've already spoken Jamie, still resolving the issue we spoke about.
  9. Not convinced I'm afraid. Why would just a change of carts suddenly have such an effect? I've looked at the tec data and the new ones are similarly fast. I know a lot of people like them but, is a dodgy run out of the question?
  10. I posted a similar thread about the same cartridges a couple of weeks ago, I've now changed carts and today I only had one bird that wasn't cleanly killed. For whatever reason they don't seem to pattern well in my Browning 525 with Mod and L/Mod chokes.
  11. Had exactly the same problem this afternoon. I decoyed a well used confluence of two flight lines on 3 day old stubble which I saw a good few birds on yesterday. Most of the shots I took were crossing birds that came within range, rather than decoyed. I think maybe a dozen decoyed in 3 hours. Bangers on the adjacent large field, tried rotary , no rotary, as well as 3 positions, flapper, no flapper. Changed the pattern 4 times, added floaters, still no joy. I was wondering if pigeons get 'full'. Theres been a lot of cutting this week and it got me thinking that there may be so much seed available that they just don't want any more?
  12. Guns worth about £350-400, plus maybe 75 for the scope.
  13. http://www.surreysportingclub.co.uk/ Not a million miles from you and sounds quite nice, somebody did recommend it at some time. http://www.cobhamsportinggun.co.uk/page3.html Could be a cheaper way to get some shooting? Looking for a bit more practice before being let loose? I suspect that your employer may have had an effect on the speed of your certificate grant, friends in high places and all that! ...unless you aren't who I think you are!
  14. The idea of resting a shotgun on my foot has never sat well with me, one day I might forget that I'm using the semi-auto and leave one in the chamber.... I prefer to hold my broken gun in the crook of my elbow, or occasionally broken across the shoulder.
  15. Has anyone got use of a copy lathe who could potentially copy a stock for me? Not 100% yet but I may need to replace an old stock and possibly fore end.
  16. Who? Another quietly (very), effective (?), body.
  17. In my opinion, you are probably right in that one powerful, well funded voice would be ideal, but we don't have that. However, of the organisations that we do have, BASC is by far the best known and most vocal. You regularly hear BASC reps being quoted/interviewed, occasionally you hear of the CA, the rest just seem to sit in tha background and only serve to split up shooters into smaller groups thus hindering the large organisations. Purely my opinion and I know loads are going to disagree of course, especially the BASC haters.
  18. ...and a tenth of the political force. I have NEVER heard SACS mentioned on the radio, TV or in the daily press. Definitely not the voice of shooting IMO.
  19. LOL! Sorry, but it's a spur of the moment activity, as most of the best things should be!
  20. At the same time? You are talented! I take it you're in favour of these laws encouraging make up application while stirring boogers?
