  1. Didn't know that, but I do now. Only 5 days apparently... A "grace" period of five days is being granted for people buying their road tax online, by post or telephone, the DVLA says. This loosening of the rules will allow people to drive their vehicles without risking breaking the law, but only applies where the tax disc has been purchased prior to the expiry date on the old tax disc. The DVLA says this improved flexibility will be useful for people who put off buying their tax discs until the last day of the month when they get paid.
  2. Yup, you have seven days from when you bought it to when you must display it.
  3. Hahahaha, there's none so blind as those who don't want to see! Yes, he said he won't say BongoBongo land again. What he didn't do is apologise to anyone, or back track at all on the overall sentiment of his comments! It's like saying we should castrate all of those dirty travellers and taking out the word dirty! (Used as an example as often brought up on PW, and used without malice). The inoffensive but somehow offensive word is gone but the full intent remains!
  4. You are entitled to your opinion and I'd defend your right to it. Doesn't make you automatically right though no matter how many times you say it. Good luck with the Charlie.
  5. Not really. It's too early for accusation, but speculation is just that.
  6. No idea what you are talking about mate...link maybe? Edit: Ah, right, Wiki comes to the rescue http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Millin Yup, big cojones.
  7. In full control at all times? I'll guarantee that even with your dog an a leash, you are not in full control. Someone walking past you could be nailed in a second if your dog so chose. You may be righteous, but not even you will be that good!
  8. In my opinion, the difference lies in the lethality of the animal. A bull is capable of easily killing an adult and known to be generally unpredictable. A dog is in the main unlikely to kill an adult and are in the main not unpredictable. I accept there are going to be exceptions to the rule but, your average lab, or come to that your chihuahua, does not readily attack people and even less so kill them.
  9. I had to Google that, for those in the same boat..Good Point Well Made. It's an interesting tactic, a possible anti posting on a shooting forum about antis, lateral thinking for sure!
  10. He's on Ch5 now, and utterly unrepentant! Good on him! At least he is willing to stand by his comments and as we (mostly) all know, he is right. It is just the namby pambys who have got upset because it's a slow news day and they feel much better when outraged! The sooner we get people with a grip on the real world running this country (including Scotland if they decide to stick around) the better! The more UKIP do and say, the more Joe Public likes what he sees, brilliant!
  11. You cannot be racist towards a land or people who don't exist, if anything you could suggest insinuation, nothing more. As for bonkers, I feel he has shown himself to be of sound mind today, whether you like what he has said or not.
  12. Go on then, I'll bite, which ones don't have problems with corruption? I'm struggling to think of one at the moment.
  13. Ok, well maybe we should also make sure that all people under the age of 18 can never be more than 30 feet from their parent/guardian as they may occasionally climb trees which causes damage to our environment? Yes, ludicrous I know, but no more daft than thinking you're going to get millions of dog owners to start walking their dogs on leads everywhere. I don't think you should have to, but it's immaterial, it's not going to happen. Too many dog owning voters for the govt to even consider it!
  14. That works both ways buddy, change the wording to 'These places are for the enjoyment of all INCLUDING dog owners'?. Millions of dogs are freely walked on a daily basis without incident, so why should the majority be penalised by the actions of a very small percentage? You may be able to walk yours for a couple miles and that's enough for them, mine would be just getting warmed up. I understand it's my choice but I don't accept that owning a labrador means I should have to take special steps to exercise her. My dogs get 40 minutes of exercise of a morning and an hour at night, both free running and that's their norm and adequate, they are quite capable of doing 3 times that so maybe I could lead walk them for 10 hours a day?
  15. Good for off roading too, ours always used to get run through the woods and the obligatory jump of 'The quaggy'!
  16. So does tourism, at the moment it would appear that there is still more money in shooting them with a gun rather than a camera, or at least enough to make it economically viable.
  17. I'm interested as to how you exercise your dogs adequately if you never unleash them in a public place which of course, covers all public parks, woods etc?
  18. I have a bit of a problem with trophy hunting. I eat what I kill or ensure it goes to be eaten. I understand that some animals need to be culled/controlled which aren't going to go into the food chain (foxes being a prime example) and as such I can accept it easily enough, but, hunting lions, leopards, elephant, rhino, buffalo, purely to be able to say "I've done that", while it may contribute to the local economy, not to mention the operators bottom line, I can't see the justification
  19. Terribly sad that two young lads have died, my thoughts are with them But, does it strike anybody else as strange though that the python has allegedly strangled both lads, when constrictors kill by crushing the body (constriction) normally causing aspyxiation as you cannot expand your lungs. Said snake then doesn't hang around or attempt to consume it's 'prey'? A Google would also suggest that it would have chosen its victim, killed and then tried to consume, not to kill two victims. I fear there is more to this story than meets the eye.
  20. Do you think you can buy mud/snow tyres for a Honda Blackbird?
  21. IF they are in an edible condition, thats what should happen to them. Any that aren't are then dog/fox/ ferret food. Leaving carts is unforgivable though, and personally I won't use plastic wads over farmland. The only plastic wads I use are at the clayground or when 'fowling as I have no choice then and console myself with the thought that I only have a very few shots.
  22. Agreed., Video her arrival, movements, you making the gun safe then approaching and your conversation with her, then any further involvement. Keep it continuous, job done.
  23. Couldn't agree more to be honest. I have a Ridgeback X Mastiff. He's a teddy bear. Typical big dog, soft as they come, even tempered, chilled out etc etc. However, at 55 kg and solid, IF he went it would cause most people a problem. Now, he is not a problem dog or dangerous breed, but, if for example he had an undiagnosed brain tumour or something that altered his behaviour and out of the blue he raced across a field and savaged someone, resulting in their death...should I go down for life, or maybe twenty years, ten, five even? In the preceding circumstances doesn't that seem excessive? I've not encouraged viciousness or mistreated the animal etc etc, so, how do you draw the lines?
