  1. Could do with another, want to get a router table set up at some point, with router permanently attached ! Funnily got a couple of plough planes...

Just had a go a knocking up a sled for some spalted beech slices , finish tomorrow, got to make a base plate for the router to sit on , bit rough & ready , made from an old wardrobe sweet going the tip tomorrow so nothing lost , the pine I ripped up & planed up this afternoon from the same sweet , only a prototype, but always fancied one to flatten rough timber..
  3. Funnily been making these tonight gin glass bottle holder , and key rack , norma 223 shells...
  4. Cheers , just bits & Bob's to hand , was undecided what to make, got some spalted beech slices so thought of a side table, but ended up another stick stand ....
  5. So clearing out , old foot stool , hmm legs look good , so stripped down & scraped 80"s varnish off , hey presto a base ! So next couple of ply disks and central support, plus brackets for top disk So holes drilled , assembled , couple coats of stain & varnish, done cost £2 in total, everything recycled except knob on top , now filled with sticks looks ok !
  6. Used to make them in work on the laser cutter & similar ones ... Got baskets hanging off them !

    Funnily looking at a compressor , as ever to far away.....
  9. Looks decent in a stick rack , bark colours up well , but peels & chips easily whilst working it , wouldn't use one in the field , often find birch twisters...
  10. Hawthorne was my first beating stick , lasted a few good years , last 8-9 years been using the same blackthorn, gets straightened every year & a service! Bit early for cutting yet , sap still be up , give another month or two , once you get your eye in , spot a decent stick at 30yds .....
  11. Points fitted , coat of sealer & 243 case ends as screw covers/ blanks , zero cost ! 😉
  12. Only some big pieces hopefully turn into mantles for new fire places ! It was cast offs from the mobile mill , just dumped into a pile & left , took a bit of work to plank it ! Points getting fitted tomorrow....
  13. So had quite a few left over points off antlers , so another coat rack ! The oak was another salvaged piece, planed up , found scraping with a blade better than sanding, put a bevel round the edge , sorted points , I've done all the drilling for points and screws, used the ends off 243 cases as screw covers when mounted . Light coat of sealer, finish off tomorrow, got 10 points.....

  16. Its only mainly for sharpening tools , funnily enough moved a vacuum system in , record one , so will run some ducting in for dust collecting etc...as the belt sander throws a fair bit out...

  18. This is were usually do sticks etc , adjoins the garage, new benches on the other side of back wall ! Theres one tilley , 2 biladen lamps and an old oil lamp ! Still got a working tilley out back ! Couple of old torches, the block planes were the old mans as an apprentice in the late 30's , also found a couple of munitions boxes from the war & the classic old petrol can ! All future to do's.
  19. For Mel , the little Myford , been handy ! Chopsaw in , belt sander & thicknesser under the bench now , the old lamps , torches & block planes future projects ! Gordon, never have to many vices & spinners! Overall , before you couldn't even move with **** ! Looking better, Chris cut shanks, ash, hazel, blackthorn & holly/chestnut, ones in the roof, cut last year ...

  21. 🤣🤣🤣 that blue vice , was used to hold weight moulds for casting beach weights , will find it a new home ! The lathe is a 1974 myford super7 , fitted a newton Tesla speed controller, makes life a lot easier, forwards/ reverse/jog variable speed etc ! Also the mig is just out of sight & saw table! Plus a mass of sticks , but carnt show that cause Old Boggy might get shank envy! It really was just a dumping ground now going to get used....also at some point would like to fit a wood lathe as well...

Been meaning to do this for an age , so this week , pulled all the **** out , used anything to hand to create a couple of benches , basically a picnic bench and seats for tops , sawn up lumps of timber for legs , left over flooring to top the benches & old wardrobe/ counter tops for shelves ! Moved & cleaned up the lathe, couple of led lights / sockets and hey ho ! Tomorrow fit bench grinder & chopsaw... Other workshop adjoins the garage, were I mainly make sticks etc , nice to have a bit more room, next objective is to make a router sled...
