The children were attacked - I don't think anyone is questioning that - unless someone wants to get really silly. The mother saw the fox in the room, ambulance men took a photo of one hanging around. Despite all this, Brian May and the odd person on here is casting grave doubt about whether their parents are lying. Have the medical people said these bites are not consistent with the parents account? Have the Police said there were suspicious circumstances? NO. Despite the commotion with the children, ambulance crew arriving - a fox just happened to be passing by to see what the fuss was about - do me a favour. On what basis does anyone have to dispute what they are saying? It's as bad as that absolute idiot May speaking about things without a brain.

It's surprisingly easy to get scammed on credit cards. The postie can nick your new card or apply for one in your name. Easy enough to intercept the promotional junk mail and the subsequent card and PIN. Never throw credit card fliers into your bin, with your details intact. I don't want to start an argument with Postal workers. We both know it happens. If you don't, I don't think you work for Royal Mail. I was asked for my credit card at Manchester Shooting School as security on Wednesday. I am sure they are perfectly honest, but it only takes one dodgy employee. They didn't react too well when I declined. They then asked for my driving licence - some people have obviously never heard of identity fraud. It would have been funny under other circumstances. I wonder how many people give information away in this manner. "Data harvesting" is the name for it.

That's the problem - complete idiots suddenly proclaim themselves experts on any given subject.

In today's paper, he seems to be claiming that a fox did not attack the two babies. As he wasn't there, he can't say, but has managed to heap suspicion on the parents. I trust he will rot in hell.

What sort of money are we talking for shells from John? PS. I remember John from the early 80s - when he was a top shot - I mean very, very good. I bumped in to him in the Stoke area at a shoot last year. He looked older but had aged annoyingly well.

Much as I don't rate the organisation, the actual card worked well. They just couldn't seem to decide whether you paid before or after. It seemed to change whilst we were waiting. I hope they have sorted out their system before weekend or there could be fun.

Hello and welcome. Nowadays most people will only respond to adverts with photos, choking etc. You will struggle without more info.

Nicky - well done on the pinkish crosser. We kept getting no birds then we noticed them hitting a bush. Between three of us - we gave up on the clay before the fourth one shot - we had one which appeared to be on the correct trajectory. I wouldn't stake my life on that because we didn't see enough to judge. We just got fed up shouting pull - the counter moved down one - and getting nothing. It got just a bit wearing. We could have trudged back to the clubhouse to complain about the no birds, but we would have spent a fair amount of time walking backwards and forwards. The attitude to no birds is as you say Because of the delay starting we only shot 50 each - so took 3 or 4 pairs at each stand - didn't really see enough on some stands to learn from our errors. Last time we went, we shot 200 plus each person. I have shot there on and off for 25 years. The ground has become more sophisticated - facilities, cafe, clubhouse, computer system??, but seems to have more no birds and less imagination with the clays. It might be my memory, but the only things that have improved are the road - plus the new skeet range.

The man is a simplistic idiot who talks over other people. Absolutely ignorant.

Nicky - they had a pair of yellowish / green clays quartering right to left against a very poor background. Four of us had trouble picking them up. They dipped fairly quickly as well. They aso had right to left high roller followed by a pinkish left to right crosser which appeared on various trajectories - some hit a tree before we shot, others hit the floor fairly sharpish. One went up in the air - we gave up on that clay after about 5 no birds.

Went today with Nick T and a couple of other friends. I have complained about the road in the past - they have made a decent effort - well done. Last time we went they were open from 12.00 noon. We arrived 12.35 - not yet open. Advised it opened at 1.00pm. 1.00pm came and went - new computer being installed.. At 1.20pm - proprietor said - "we won't be a minute". Over 15 minutes later - they were ready - very slow dealing with us. It was a painful experience. I appreciate that a new system was being installed, but being a guinea pig was not a good experience. I checked the web site when I got home - in June it is a 2.00pm start. I was asked for a credit card to leave with them. In this day and age, I know of no-one with a brain cell who would let their credit card out of their possession. They settled for the keys to my works. If memory serves - prices had increased since my last visit - about a year ago - by £2 per 100. Getting my keys back was a similarly slow process. We had a 10% no birds allowance. The explanation to the lad in front of us was that if you paid for 100 clays, your card would have 110 on it. If you had three no birds, you got 7 freebie clays. We had 8 no birds at the first stand. Our no birds were in excess of 20%. We laughed about the freebie clays all the way round, in sort of ironic way. There were also some really stupid coloured clays against poor backgrounds. None of the four of us will ever, ever visit again - it's too much like hard work.

Was there a Plan B if he didn't hit his head on the screen or it didn't disable him?

The Police did what they are paid for and probably a lot more. As for ramming the car and turning it over. The standard Police driving course doesn't cover how to do this safely or even unsafely. It would have been a real gamble and could have ended up even worse. This is something seen more often in the USA, where the Police are well armed. I really don't comprehend the flak the Police are getting from people who were not there, but sit in judgement in the safety of a nice chair, whilst they pound the keyboard. I suspect it was a little more dangerous in Cumbria.

I had a Fabarm auto 25 years ago - best made auto I have come across - I have had over a dozen. The more recent guns take a critical panning on other forums.
-
I have owned 325 x 2, 425 x 3 and 525 x 2. The stock dimensions on the guns - was better for me on 325 and 425. All are very well made guns. I have also owned Miroku MK38 x 3 - same gun - less cost.
-
I bought Sporting Gun for about ten years. Very, very little new stuff in it. Cancelled my subscription two years ago. My eldest then bought me a years subscription for my birthday - cheapskate. I was not surprised when I noticed that it had barely changed - same adverts and articles - or very similar. I won't be renewing, so unless it's a gift, I cannot recommend it.

I agree. Boito are definitely Brazillian. Mate had one. Crudely made and at the bottom end of the market. At £40 for a minter, I might consider one.
-
You might be right about why it was traded in. My shooting friend, Mark, is considering trading in his low mileage Teknys Gold - same problem with feeding / jamming - twisted carrier. When he twists it the other way, it's okay for a week, but it keeps recurring.
-
There's always the one. Nice conversion - looks tidy - whichever door did or didn't get taken off.

I don't have a 4 x 4 at present but have own a few for towing my lads' motocross box trailer - twin axles. Discovery was excellent, but rolled a bit on corners. Owned a 2.2 diesel Frontera - just under 40mpg, one of the cheapest cars to run, I have ever owned - I am on cars 98 and 99 at the moment. Few spares needed and they were cheap. Quicker than a Disco, better on road than Disco and very respectable off road. Far more car like to drive. Post 98 are supposed to be better - I agree. I don't know why people knock them - bit like Skodas. I fancied another for shooting, but you don't see many autos - wife likes us both having autos, so she can drive them both.
-
I agree with Zapp. 25 years ago, I kicked most people's backsides at clays, but injuries, age and breaks from shooting have taken their toll. I now miss clays that I could have shot in my sleep. I am not too proud to take lessons or advice. I was even considering one of Beretta's.

Forget a .410 - cartridges are a fortune. For £300 you could get a very decent Side by Side or the budget end of a decent secondhand Over and Under. It would be better if you could try other people's guns to find out which suited you best. The real point is to accept that these are dangerous weapons in the wrong hands. Safety and a proper attitude are far more important than engraving and good wood. Ask other shooters for help. Despite the maniac in Cumbria, shooters are thoroughly decent, helpful people. Good luck and safe shooting.

E-mail the Managing Director. It will be Monday before anything happens, but expect compensation. Currys are one of quite a number of firms who have compensated me for poor service. Going rate is £30. I will see if I still hold an address. You could try nick.wilkinson@dsgibusiness.com

As Beretta has said - it's well documented on the other thread. If you decide you want one - check the thread for the cheapest price.
