Secondhand Beretta, Winchester X2 or a Remington. You can get cheaper - Hatsan, Webley and Scott - opinion is divided on the latter two. Autos have far more moving parts - more to go wrong, but the first three should have little going wrong.

Keep it on a lead to avoid a repeat. I have two large Akitas - one of which has been attacked quite a few times. The other dogs owners always complain afterwards, despite mine being on a lead and theirs were not. In this instance, the other owner accepted fault, but few people do.

I have every sympathy with the man over losing his dogs - I would be devastated, but I have a couple of problems with this:- His dogs were not on a lead. They were clearly not very well trained as they ran off. If he wasn't capable of commanding them to stop, they should not have been loose. Everyone whose dog attacks another or a child says it is a one-off and never happened before. Have we got the full story, as a prosecution seems unlikely to succeed. I repeat that he has my sympathy, but self-inflicted springs to mind. You say he blames himself - he is partially right.

http://www.browning.com/customerservice/qna/detail.asp?id=98 Question: Do all Browning guns have chrome-lined chambers? Answer: No. All current Citori, Cynergy, Maxus and Silver shotguns as well as the BAR centerfire rifle have chrome-lined chambers. http://www.sportinggun.co.uk/guns/165470/B...gun_review.html The barrels are also chrome lined, so the gun has a great inherent resistance to corrosion both in the bores, and chambers. It would appear that after the 325 - chambers and barrels are chrome lined. The XT being a 425 - should be.

Beretta - my hammers are not gold plated, but I did upgrade to Estwing USA - the finest money can buy. I had 5, but my lads have been borrowing them - down to 2. You really can tell the difference.

I would happily pay £20 - more if the seller had a mask and a gun.
-
MC - I could not agree more. I notice the Moat apologists are fading into the background on the various forums, since the shot Policeman has spoken out. I don't know what possessed them in the first place. Moat killed - Moat wanted to die - Moat is dead. The World is a better place without him.

Your location might assist.

You won't go far wrong ith your list. Miroku MK38 offers more gun for your money, than its Browning counterpart (same gun - just different badge and dearer) and Beretta.

Went to St Ives a couple of months ago. Off to Wales next month, then either, Devon, Cornwall or Norfolk in September - haven't decided yet. Bit restricted with having two big dogs, who go with us. They have never been in kennels and too late to start now.
-
Your more realistic goal might be to win anything.

The scumbag was holding a shotgun to his own head and some idiots don't think he was trying to kill himself. A little extreme for someone keen to stay alive. Why is anyone agonising over the events? If you were one of the Police who fired a taser at the same time he pulled the trigger, could you honestly say which happened first.? We now have armchair critics casting doubt on the Police. They should hang their heads in shame. No sign of concern for the dead man and the two others shot. Just worrying about a worthless piece of cowardly garbage who shot a woman and defenceless Policeman - not to mention killed someone. Time to get priorities adjusted I think.

Gordon R replied to Dazzza's topic in Guns for Sale (Private Sales)
Can't believe no-one has snapped this up. It's getting traded in at weekend and will sell for a whole lot more. -

Decent last post. I hadn't considered the legal implications. -
There are fairies at the bottom of my garden too. Nice guy in prison for "child abuse" - kills one , shoots another two. The man was scum. I can't honestly believe that people are trying to make him some kind of victim. Where were these idiots when he was shooting people?
-
I agree about the difference. I have shot D and J cartridges - plastic wads - okay - not dirty. I have shot D and J fibre wads and will never use them again - not even as a freebie. The deposits took forever to clean - very stubborn.

I think the Police did as well as anyone could hope for. We have the best Police Force in the World. I don't know why people seem to enjoy knocking them. Perfect - they are not - but still very, very good. To those who have crossed swords with the Police - Over many years I have been pulled over by the Police for:- 1. Speeding - twice. 2. Police motorcyclist thought my tax disc was green - it was. 3. Dangerous maneouvre - I overtook a woman doing 20 in a 40 area. 4. Going suspiciously slow - 50mph on a motorway. I was never reported for any offence. I just accepted that they were doing their job - but not perfectly. I left the Police on good terms on each occasion.

Mr Potter - fancy me forgetting where the 2012 Olympics are being held. A bit silly.

Your wife is either delusional or wants you out of the country in 2012.

Belgian FITASC Sporting Champs...........
Gordon R replied to Catamong's topic in Clay Pigeon Shooting
Cat - shame about "Pull". If you were contributing to a magazine, I would be more inclined to buy. Too many boring articles in the current crop !!!!!!!!! -
At that age £300. Decent autos. Had one briefly.

Cat - well done on the shooting side. I will say it again - you put together a very good article and the photos to go with it. The piece is a real cut above the ordinary journalism that haunts the shooting magazines. Have you never fancied doing the odd article for one of the rags? -
It wouldn't be the smartest move to get a reputation for getting constantly banned for making posts, whilst potentially under the influence. Doesn't sit well with having shotguns.
-
Nick - any link to the post? It is a nice gun, but Mark won't use it again unless it gets cured.

Early Berettas - yes. Mate has a Teknys Gold. His own estimate is that it jams every three shots. Twisted carrier - flimsy junk.
