    SNOW

A few inches north of Manchester. Roads are bad. Compacted snow covered by a light fall - all getting a bit icy. Things are so bad, my wife says I will have to get a taxi to the local, rather than the normal white knuckle ride when she drops me off.
  2. Sorry - I don't or it would have already gone several times. Good luck with your hunt for a pump and I hope you can do better with one than me.
  3. There is something wrong with it - the carrier that flicks the second shell up is made from tinfoil and keeps twisting. The older part was more rigid. The receiver corroded rather quickly and had to be replaced - took about 9 months. Other than that, it looks good.
  4. I have owned about a dozen different makes of auto and shot considerably more. A shooting mate has a Beretta Teknys Gold which jammed on every outing - he has stopped using it. Older Berettas seem better made, with sturdier parts, Graham - who runs Gundeals - is a good mate and I have used his Benelli - reliable, well made, but too much recoil for me. Fabarm - best put togther auto I have owned, but that was 20 years ago. Winchester X2 - best value for money of the lot. Remington - had quite a few - best handling auto by a mile.
  5. Steve - what make is it? Please send photos.
  6. Thanks Godzilla - here are some photos.
  7. Mick - just off junction 17 - M62 / M60 north Manchester.
  8. I bought this a couple of weeks ago as a result of this advert on this Forum:- I paid the full price as the gun was very good. Having used the gun, I realise that my wish to recapture youger days was sadly misplaced. I am not good enough with a pump action. I embarassed myself today at Worsley, but Nick T. who was with me, used the pump as if he had used one from birth. Barrel is actually 27" with three chokes - half, 3/4 and full. I am looking to get my money back, especially as I have added a leather stock extender, which I also bought on here and also travelled 190 miles round trip. I will throw the leather extender in for free. If interested pm me and I will gladly send photos - camera permitting. I will try to post some on here tomorrow if camera does not keep going flat. Would consider swap for an auto - gas - not recoil - cash either way. F2F only.
  9. Agreed. I have had a few which referred to posts I made over a year ago, but I always reply.
  10. Lanbers are fine guns, but very few people would say they are in the same league as Browning / Miroku or Beretta. For the money you are spending, these represent more gun for your money.
  11. I know people advocate putting a coin on the rib etc, but all that gets you is a high shooting gun suitable for DTL. I like guns that shoot where you aim.
  12. covlocks Sorry - totally wrong. Possession of a NI Number counts for nothing. Sadly workers hi-jack other people's numbers or buy National Insurance Cards. The going rate is £50. The employer has to satisfy themselves that the worker has the right to work and having an NI number isn't a defence.
  13. Honest John's car reviews:- Reports of catastrophic engine damage, each vehicle requiring a new engine at a cost of £7,000 each. The damage has occurred between 82,000 and 120,000 miles. All vehicles have been serviced by (various) Nissan dealers to the Nissan service schedule. One large Nissan dealer said "we get two a month". Much more on this at www.knackerednavara.co.uk Fatigue of the upper big end halves in the back two cylinders occurs first. Continued operation would appear to initiate a crack on the big end housing of the connecting rod – again, always in the same place: across the oil hole in the housing. When it lets go it smashes a hole in the side of the block. Finally 'exposed' on BBC Watchdog 20-10-2008 and mention made of "secret" extended warranty to 5 years and 93k miles. Only affects D22s built before August 2006. It now seems that Nissan has extended the warranty on pre-06 Navaras and will pay for everything if you persevere. The warranty only works if you have serviced at a Nissan dealer and the mileage is under 90,000. For anyone who has had this problem get onto Nissan Customer Services. They may not roll over straight away, so perseverence may be needed. They have paid for at least one reader's recovery and other costs as well as replacing the engine with a brand new one.
  14. Depends how you want it checked and where you are. A friend of mine has a laser device to check where the gun is pointing as opposed to where you think you are pointing. Free service if you live in the north west and attend the same shoot.
  15. Le Chameau - had some for about five years.
  16. I use Bob Heath anti fog visor spray - for motorcyclists - on my glasses. Works well enough for me.
  17. Augusta - Building Societies and banks used to copy driving licences when people opened up accounts and retain them. I think you will find they no longer do so if the customer objects, because once they have satisfied themselves of the identity, they have no legal reason, under the Data Protection Act, to retain them. As for employers, it is not HMRC or the Police who they need to satisfy, but Borders Agency.
  18. Possession of a national insurance number isn't proof of anything. It could be a fake, a hi-jacked number or obtained illegally. From memory, I think it is illegal to copy identity documents. Employers can inspect the documents to satisfy themselves about identity, but there is no legal reason to hold on to a copy. As for an employer looking at a passport and saying it was a real one, I have to laugh. If I had a £5 for every bent passport I have had hold of, I could buy a new Krieghoff.
  19. Bishop Auckland County Durham - first post.
  20. If you look on Bamfords Guns at a Browning XT - this was mine. I did the stock - which is actually a 525 trap stock - from the bare wood using Tru-Oil. http://www.guntrader.co.uk/3rdParty/Bamfor...090312120750002
  21. Fair might be okay - Italian - same family. Lanber is Spanish.
  22. Well pleased with the pump. Good to meet Lee and his family - nice people in a bonny part of the country. The drive up there and back was bl***y awful - loads of road works. You can't have everything.
