  1. Thanks for that I had came to the same conclusion that I will start with a lower load from a bullet with the same weight and carefully work up... Cheers
  2. Further to this is the make of bullet critical or can I go on the weight on it's own,,,, Cheers
  3. I have a Remington 700 sps in .223 with 1 in 12 twist, I have the 4th Edition Vihtavuori Reloading manual and I have borrowed Edition 8 from a mate. I have brand new Lapua .223 Remington Match Cases. I also have N133 that I intend to use for this calibre, I have some N140 as well but intend using this for my .308 later on once I purchase one. My bullets are as follows: Sierra Gameking 55gr HP Boat Tail Hornaby 55gr V-Max 52gr BT A-Max 55gr FMJ-BT W/C 53gr HP Match I cannot find the specific makes and grains of bullets in either of these loading manuals, I would appreciate if anyone can either let me know the starting and maximum loads for any of these bullets or a link to any site where the data is available, I have had a look on the Vihtavuori website and they merely mirror the data I already have.... I know that the maximum bullet for the 1 in 12 twist is 65gr so I am well within ths with the bullets I have....... Many thanks
  4. I don't intend repeating any of the comments already made as such, however my take on this is this. I use sub 12ft lb when required, one of my permissions is a football stadium with stands where the ferals love to roost, there are also rabbits that love to score goals, This permission is in the middle of a town so would only use sub 12ft lb.... One of my other permissions is about 850 acres of fields, woods etc. I use my sub 12 ft lb Daystate MK4 MCT IS in and around the farm buildings, I use my .410 Mossberg Hushpower in the same areas, I also use the .410 in some of the woods after the tree rats and woodies. I use the 12 Gauge on the fields, I use the .22 LR on all open areas and use my .17 HMR as well when reaching out further. When targeting Fox or Roe then the .223 comes out to play. But all of these are used as and when that particular calibre is needed, it is all done in as safe a way as possible. When I get into my car and drive along the same road every day the driving circumstances are never the same two days running and I have to constantly risk assess my surroundings, a dog on a lead, a dog off a lead, a kid on a push bike, the point I am getting to is that with all the different rifles I constantly risk assess everything as I go and take the shot if safe to do so. I use the rifle required for the job in hand and use it within it's limitations, whether that be not using the sub 12ft lb over 35 yards, or not using the .17 hmr in a built up area etc etc. Safety Safety Safety............
  5. Airgun BBS say no more.......... Common Sense NIL.......................
  6. Free Postage brilliant, got mine ordered
  7. Bored with this one already, Stupid shot, ill conceived, if this is North of the border people like this should perhaps be assessed and regulated, how many misses or inhumane shots have been taken to achieve this rubbish..... this plays right into the hands of the Anti-Gun Brigade....... Oh and by the way I am North of the border and I am trying to fight Scottish Parliament on new proposed legislation, but shots like that well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I have personally met that bunny, his name was STEW
  9. Would have collected if local, thanks anyway
  10. Hi V8 90, I am in Fife, scotland I have already committed myself to purchase the CZ455 in .22lr barrel (stainless) from a RFD in my area, I am the type of person who will not pull out once committed as the RFD has had to send a cheque to Edgar brothers, anyway, I can get a .17hmr barrel in blued but Edgar brothers are trying to shift the 452's before they bring anymore stainless in. The RFD in your area is it a CZ455 stainless .17hmr, I might be able to purchase the .17hmr barrel in stainless, I have the slot on my ticket. What is the name of the RDF, telephone number etc. If you do not want to post their details please PM me, regards
  11. Where are you located, thanks
  12. Would this work on a .410 Mossberg Hushpower Pump Action, I know this is sold, but was just wondering as I mat get one from another source, I want to enter a high seat up a massive wire rope ladder and not a good idea as there is no way to attach a sling, thanks
  13. Are they rotary or banana type, thanks
  14. FAC finally came through yesterday after a VERY long wait, phoned the RFD to order up a CZ 455 in .17hmr only to find this is only available in .22lr at the moment as Edgar Brothers have sold out of .17hmr models and are not importing anymore until they get the 452's they have in stock shifted... Shocking, I have ordered the 455 in .22lr and will obtain the .17hmr barrel later, but they should not be holding the public to ransom like this......
  15. Any Photos mate. Cheers
  16. Ditto, I have the same scope on my MK4 Daystate, £234 new, good scope.............
  17. Pity these types of offers don't happen north of the border very often, nice offer for someone mate
  18. Pity these types of offers don't happen north of the border very often, nice offer for someone mate
  19. Mossberg Hushpower .410 P/A Yes shoots lower because of the difference from the bead to the bore so aim with the bead and raise the barrel slightly giving a little holdover, job done...... Nice and quiet around the barns and outbuildings on one of my permssions... Nice wee .410
  20. I have a few rifles and shotguns on the go now, and I am just waiting on my FAC getting sorted out as I am going to purchase a CZ 455 in thumbhole laminate stock, varmint stainless barrel in .17HMR The wait is driving me crazy, but big cogs turn slowly, I have taken note of the various options about the possiblity to switch barrels etc, I also have a 10-22 Ruger that I will still hold onto, but may use that purely for target and at a later stage put in for a variation to switch barrels etc. Being stainless will the moderators that have been recommended OK or is there a better stainless option, not too worried about the look of the rifle, i.e. stainless barrel with black moderator as hunting setup...... Cheers
  21. I found a very similar scope on Fleabay, item number 290707594796 The one I have just put on here is on £4.99 & postage extra for a new one with higher magnification, the seller is willing to sell at £70...... So don't know where I am going, just thought I would be up front with you.. Cheers
