  1. It is an offence to 'harbour rabbits.' If the occupier of the land (the tenant) does not deal with the rabbits, they (the tenant) are in breach of the law. The landlord can politely point this out and you can offer your services for free. The landlord or their agents, can usually access a property if 24 hours notice is given. Have a polite word with the tenant, explain what you are doing. If you are worried about what to do control method wise, take an experienced friend along. You will certainly get an offer of help on here I am sure.
  2. I bought a Gamo Junior rifle from a chap on here about three or four years back. Synthetic stock and barrel cover, 4 x 20 scope and very light. My son was six or seven when he first had it. Very easy to cock etc. I had been meaning to get round to advertising it as my lad now has a Meteor and the eldest uses a PCP. If you send me a PM you could have it PW mates rates.

Go to the Weihrauch Springer Group on Facebook. Chap there does a very neat job of machining the breech block to take two delrin washers. That and a tune up it will open and shoot amazingly.
  4. The .303 wallet that Mrs Melb3 did was very good quality. Back to back stitched leather so it's hard wearing, belt loop so I don't leave it somewhere, and made so that when opened on the belt it just unrolls and leaves the rounds ready to grab. Very good design, neat work and a good price, very very pleased. Cheers!
  5. Cheers for a great weekend to all concerned. Really liked the lay out, the targets and the simulated game shoot was just like the real thing - even down to getting birds directly overhead poached . Not many events where you can shoot all day, met up with old friends, and make firm new ones over a few beers. Really appreciated. Special thanks to Blunderbust for driving again and doing my share of the cooking Sunday morning , also to Flynny; mate, your help in finishing off that stubborn bottle of Bells was invaluable. See you all again next year I hope. Since the old Enfield drew so much interest, the .740 front-stuffer may come out next...

    hw97

I use these for slings: http://ant-supplies.co.uk/Pages/RifleSplitBandSwivelBases.aspx As for how good is the 97/77: https://sites.google.com/site/whfta1/results/2015-results/recoiling-class-results-2015 I saw only one break barrel HW all weekend. The HW underleavers are still the choice of champions. Konceptus do standard moderator innards, but an adapter and extra moderator is still superior with a well tuned and sleeved HW.
  8. You want to go to The 'Nam? You don't know what it's like until you get there. Whilst you sit at your computer, getting a little r and r, Charlie just needs a handful of rice and some cold rats meat for his. You sit typing questions into PW and Charlie stays squatting in the bush getting stronger and stronger.
  9. Loved my 870. Polishing the chamber is reputed to work well too on Remingtons.
  10. That has to have been the most fiendishly set out course that I have ever seen. Great fun as ever.
  11. Well up for this. Up at dawn to drive a couple of hours to lie in ice fringed mud and achieve my worst score for the entire year. Strangely good fun. My favourite HFT event of the year!
  12. I use Rios in mine all the time. The mag tubes can rust and collect gunge at the making it a bit hard to fed carts into though. GT85 through the hole exposed by removing the the captive barrel bolt, and a bit of wet and dry followed by a clean-ish rag. They are ctough, but even I clean mine throughout every two years/3000 carts or so.
  13. In the late 90's Weihrauch changed the 77 and 97 tubes to 26mm. Some people claim that this was a disaster, and that the extra 1mm diameter or approx 3.4cc of cylinder volume ruined them. Most people cannot tell them apart when standard or tuned. Most Weihrauchs are either 26mm or 30mm tube.
  14. I also fancied an LGV. Chatting with people at HFT comps, I could only find one chap who had actually purchased any Walther, and his was a Terrus (sic?) the budget version. He deemed it nice for hunting but not accurate enough for HFT when tested beside his 97K. I would go for an HW to be honest (although Chris has a point, TX200s are nice). 99s now have an improved cocking lever that does not graunch, and for all the unfinished spring/bad bluing stories, I haven't heard anyone's mate of a mates mate having such bad luck for two or three years now..... So you could build up your biceps with an 80 if you like heavy guns. You could get a hand finished Sandwell Field Sports Imp for the price of an LGV. The HW98 is a target level break barrel for the same-ish price. You could get a CZ Slavia 634, a Konceptus spring guide for it and some decent grease and enjoy the UKs most under rated springer for less than £200. A new 99 can be had for £200 if you haggle. You are spoiled for choice for decent springers. I couldn't decide what to get. I still have a 2005 Venom tuned 97K in .177 and an older tuned HW77 with a 25mm piston in .22 that are equally good guns. I have two CZs, a .177 (1974) and .22 (2010), for night work as I find the break barrel easier, although the .22 is very hold sensitive. Diana still make damn good springers too. I may get a 430 Stutzen and have another fiddly to load in the dark underleaver.
  15. My Dad shot a CBC 812 for decades. I then shot it for a couple more. Very sturdy guns. Some are marked Remington and cost a lot more... As for new 870 Expresses v Wingmaster debate; if you have heard of a miracle substance called oil, the Express is a damn fine gun. My 1992 870 Express 20g was good as new but twice as slick, I sold it a couple of months back. I get my Mossy un-castrated on Monday. Will be the 2nd time it has been properly stripped since purchase two years ago. May even clean it a bit.
  16. By the number of entries, this is shaping up to be a very good day out for a very worthwhile cause.
