  1. Once you've read the manual then £10 gets you a month of practice tests here. Worked a treat for me: http://www.dsctraining.org/
  2. That'll do for DSC1. Real deer (on real hills) tomorrow...
  3. Form memory (on ipad at the moment) you Go to format > cells > currency and then select £. Might be a good idea to save the finished item as a pdf (save as and then select file format). Excel does funny things between versions and from pc to mac. Turning pounds to dollars has happened to me a few times.
  4. Thank you everyone for a top night and special thanks to Terry for making it happen. James
  5. Feel free to shoot me down but having drunk little but single malts For a few years, I decided to give something else a whirl. I am currently in love with 15 y/o Cider Brandy from Somerset. Amazing stuff: http://www.ciderbrandy.co.uk/shop.html Also stunning is (believe it or not) Tesco's 'Taste the Difference' cognac which, at 18 quid a bottle, tastes better than any other I've tried.
  6. Looks amazing. And if it doesn't take off then a career in web design, copywriting or photography beckons. Your hut has a better site than most hotels.
  7. Another Herts gun who'd like to have a go - should be free both days. Happy to drive.
  8. If you need a willing volunteer to dig, fetch, carry and get the first round in then you could take me!
  9. If there's a seat left then please put my name on it.
  10. When I lived in Londion, I hated the 'legitimized begging' we'd get every year. But now I'm in the sticks I love Halloween. In our village, a pumpkin by the door means free sweets and, more importantly, no pumpkin by the door = no kid will come near the house. So the older/less sociable can opt out and relax. Last night we had smoke machines, gravestones, zombies and all sorts in people's gardens. On a similar note, roll on fireworks at the cricket club this Saturday. And good riddance to kids chucking them at me as I cycled home through the choking traffic.
  11. Aaaaaargh! School Governors meeting clash. Gutted but will have to bail.
  12. Yep. Might try to get to RBB too if I can wangle a super-pass.
  13. Yes please. Count me in with bells on.
  14. Not last. Result! Many thanks again to Terry for organising and Mary for scoring. And thank you Ben for the goose(!) which caused quite a stir when I got home. My vote is for money to Different Strokes but I'm definitely up for another obscure shooting discipline afternoon – and more helice.

    Homebrewing

Only just picked up on this thread so really sorry to do this after you've bought all the bits - but if anyone else wants a go then the Whitehouse recipes are both available as kits containing exactly the right weights of DME, grains, hops & yeast here. They do loads of others too (including Timothy Taylor, Old Speckled Hen & London Pride) and I can vouch for their quality. They're a good way to progress past 'can & kilo' kits and the results are great. Their 'Way to Amarillo' is particularly good although sadly out of stock at the moment. I've just done the Whitehouse Honey Porter and it looks & smells amazing.
  16. Thirty. Is it me or is Almshoe about 30% harder than it used to be?
  17. Me too. Start polishing the wooden spoon.
  18. Go on then. My form, such as it was, is in tatters so it can't get any worse...
  19. On my way home from France, sadly, or I'd have been there. Do you think you'll do Almshoe on the Sunday?
  20. In a world where the majority of the population needs help assembling an Ikea wardrobe, that has put a massive smile on my face. I'm going to show my five year old son this when he gets up tomorrow.
  21. They should definitely have said no when George asked to do one off the new album...
  22. Sadly I'm with the in-laws on Sunday. Bring a broomstick and a cat.
  23. My eyes have just un-crossed. Sorry I took up so much time. I can't help being an optical curiosity.
  24. Just got this. Will be at Terry's at 10.30. Happy to drive in my new 'ladies 4x4' – I owe Terry a few pints of Diesel!
  25. As I headed home yesterday with 11kg of crayfish, Billy warned me that although I was excited now, I would soon be very bored. I didn't believe him. As a 40 year old man with three small children I figured I had a different idea of what dull and repetitive means. But to be honest, he was right. Catching crayfish is easy and fun but processing them is a bit tedious. First lesson: when you leave your crayfish overnight to clean them, only put half an inch of water in the bottom of your container and spread them thinly. I got it a bit wrong and ended up with probably 25% casualties. *****r. Second lesson: Use a deep pan with a lid. Jam pan not good, stock pot good. Beyond that, it took about two hours to get to this point... Then Mrs Blowin (no sniggering at the back) and I sat for another hour and a half picking the meat out of them. On the plus side, we ended up with an amazing paella... And plenty of leftovers... And after a few glasses of wine, the fun did start to emerge...
