  1. 3 woodpigeon in your garden at the same time. did you shoot them ?
  2. Strange that you're having problems with your Maxus. You're not using grease in the action are you? As this will go hard when fired and stop it cycling. I'm just about to head out to Beeston to use mine today.
  3. to Pigeon Watch Luke.. I'm not sure where you're from as it doesn't say in your signature and as it's your first post i have no idea of previous experience but when you say I'm planning a wood pigeon shooting holiday in the UK next March. Do you understand the General License and do you have a "permission" or are you looking for an invite. Sorry if it sounds harsh or maybe sucking eggs. Give a little more info mate and someone i'm sure will help you out.
  4. Dave, No you can't. but on the other hand, it would still do the job.
  5. Yes Terry i saw your name in the book when i booked in. What time are you getting there on Saturday? I'll give you some coaching over a pint
  6. Good choice mate, as i said earlier, if you look after your gun and maintain it and keep it clean, as you should with all guns and feed it the correct specification of cartridges as per the owners manual, then it should not let you down.
  7. Cheap indeed Terry, i think you're booked into the same B&B as me Saturday night.
  8. Should be Chilli for lunch, i'm looking forward to it
  9. Matt, I want to break clays, not shoot ourselves in the foot Are you beating Monday, or is that a silly question when a free lunch is involved?
  10. I'll chat to Burt on Saturday at the Sport Trap comp at Clacton. I need another 2 good shooters to support our Team Captain Stu.
  11. I have 2 Browning Maxus Guns. Both have been 100% Faultless, I shot on Tue night with a guy using an Escort, at the end of the night his gun performed the same as the Maxus, 100% Faultless. One is expensive, one costs a lot less (trying not to use the word cheap) I took a look at the Escort whilst chatting to the guy before we started and it was clear that the gent looked after his gun and cleaned it, as do I. So it raises the question on the reliability of Semi's. In my humble opinion, it makes no difference whether its a expensive or cheaper semi, if you clean and maintain your semi and feed it the appropriate ammunition then it will work.
  12. Alan, If its teams of 4 can you put me with Stu, Rammer Burt and someone who's used a shotgun before. Team Hangover in the making.
  13. 82. Night-time wood walk. Is that what they call Dogging these days..
  14. Stu i wouldn't worry about the comments about the dream team, have you seen them shooting....get ready to rofl.....
  15. I put a couple of hundred elay first's through my Maxus this weekend. 67mm cart 28g No8. Again faultless. As mentioned by Kent above, the cleaning is important on the Maxus. Make sure the 2 gas ports are clean, i use a pipe cleaner dipped in 009 Nitro powder solvent. Ensure the gas piston is clean, an old toothbrush and solvent will do the trick. Ensure the magazine tube is cleaned, a bit of scotch brite pad will do this. Clean out the action, ensuring the rails that the bolt carrier run along are clean, time for the toothbrush again. Clean the bolt and carrier, spray the extractor with a little wd40 and ensure its free to move. Now the important bit.. Lubrication.. ( Cue schoolboy Giggles ) Do NOT use grease inside the action or on the bolt carrier, the heat will bake it and your gun will start failing to cycle and you are left with a fired cart in the chamber as the action hasn't travelled far enough. Use a very thin smear of light gun oil on the carrier / rails like Ligia gun oil. Hope this helps, Regards
  16. Saw one on Saturday while out beating
  17. I've just checked mine as i have two. The 3 1/2" chambered hunter version does not have the adapter plug fitted to it and only holds 2 carts in the mag. The carbon Fibre Sporting one i have does have the adapter fitted but even when depressed and rotated 90 degrees does not come out and again only holds two carts in the magazine. So spot on for me as i don't have a FAC. As said above make sure that magazine isn't capable of holding more than 2 cartridges.
  18. Its the adaptor that stops you fitting more than 2 cartridges into the magazine. if you remove it then it becomes a FAC shotgun.
  19. Cold damp carts will leave residue in your barrels. store your carts in a warm dry place and see if it makes a difference.
  20. Never had a problem, i have two and they have been flawless.
  21. Welcome from the Highlands of Norfolk...
  22. if you're talking about the 3 shot adapter that fits in to the end of the magazine tube then yes you can still use it.
