  1. I’ve not heard of anyone being ill with the usual colds or flu. Possibly the lockdown is preventing people getting ill from the normal bugs that go round. However, I know 2 people personally who had confirmed Covid. One died and the other never knew they had it. The one who never knew was tested due to being NHS. Interesting that the rest of the family never contracted Covid (as far as they know anyway,) even though the nurse had it and I’m guessing she would have followed basic precautions in the house rather than go into total self isolation lock down mode as she wasn’t aware she was a carrier. I do notice a difference at work now though, with anyone showing the slightest suspicion of being not well looked at and commented on. Used to be that to cover a **** you would cough, now if you need to cough you **** loudly to hide the cough 😁
  2. That’s fine, and if folk want to use anything they’re legally allowed to in a safe and responsible manner, I’m happy with that. Just in my limited experience of one night at a range and a lifetime of using firearms recreationally and for a living, it’s not for me and the folk who are drawn to that type of gun in my experience are a bit odd. But no offence meant to them though I’m sure they will take offence
  3. Each to their own but the one and only time I went to a gun club/indoor.22 range I found that everyone there who owned (not just borrowed a shot of for the novelty factor) a military style semi automatic .22 rifle was a bit of a oddball. Take offence or not, I don’t intend any, but it was just my findings on the one and only time I went. I never went back for that reason. Folk argue that a AR15 lookalike.22 semi does the exact same as a .22 CZ or Ruger semi. If that is the case, why do some folk choose the wannabe military style as opposed to the more acceptable, to most, ‘traditional ‘ rifle? Just my take on it
  4. They say they increase the touching of your face. Obviously you put it on and off then the increased irritation/annoyance of something unnatural to you, caused by wearing it means you tend to scratch or adjust the mask. But if it helps folk feel like they’re doing something, good on them
  5. They may stop particles from being inhaled but won’t stop them entering the body through the eyes
  6. Thanks for the replies, looks like I will set up a feeder when chance allows
  7. As said by another poster, they are designed more to contain the virus if someone already has it, rather than prevent an uninfected person getting it. However, there’s a school of thought that they can be dangerous. Folk aren’t used to wearing a mask so they fidget and adjust the mask as it feels unnatural. If they do this after touching something that has the virus on it, they are then likely to transfer it to their face.
  8. Soak it in hydrogen peroxide to whiten it up and sterilise it
  9. Does anyone have much success with a peanut feeder for squirrels in the summer? Obviously not been able to get out recently and was wondering if a feeder will work as well in the summer when there is more natural food available?
  10. You can legally possess shotgun cartridges without a certificate. No problem at all. only issue is if they have less than a certain amount of pellets of a certain size, then a firearm license is required to possess them. Would need to double check but it’s something like 5 or less pellets with something like a size of .36”??? so normal buck shot or bird shot but not single slug type
  11. Spot on. Some professions are on full paid leave, likely for months. While others are risking their families safety and their own to keep this country going, but yet are unlikely to get any bonuses
  12. This country is still functioning due to the hard working and selfless folk like yourselves. It's the shop workers, bin men, delivery drivers, postie's, etc etc that are keeping things running. And obviously the NHS staff of all levels. All jobs that attract generally lower pay scales. I sincerely hope that when we get through this, that the right people are remembered and looked after. It puts into perspective the obscene amounts that some are paid such as sports stars and BBC presenters. The country has run fine without them and can continue to do so.
  13. Would be good if they did. Though all the other organisations would go bankrupt 😉
  14. Plus 1 for Songbird Survival. Very good organisation. Anyone with an interest or care for the environment and in particular, birds, should join.

    SCUM

Scumbags. There was recently a spate of cars being keyed at the local hospital car park during night time. Could only be nurses, doctors etc parking there as there's not really any visiting now, especially in the small hours. Vandalism for the hell of it, against some of the hardest working people trying to help us all in these difficult times. Shallow grave too good for them. But I suppose they are in the minority and hopefully karma will come knocking.
  16. I've seen that a few times before, always on rough casting. Up and down vertical walls no bother
  17. We can agree on one thing, any wrong doing by the police should be investigated and punished. They have to act within the law and be seen to. I think the police were trying to explain the reasons for forcing entry but the level of hostile resistance that they met meant they couldn't clearly communicate with the guy. He wouldn't let them get a word in. If he acted calmer, the police may have been able to explain clearer why they did what they had to. There action regarding the threat to others in the house was acceptable too. If there was a threat to others in the flat, it would likely be posed by the guy. Once they got in the flat, the police had eyes on him at all times and the only risk he posed was to them. Note the female officer had her hand on the CS/pava spray at all times, ready to defend herself or her colleagues. He was unlikely to be able to harm anyone else while they tried to communicate to him, or unlikely to try to harm others. So the aggressive subject is being dealt with and that takes away that concern. Concern for any possible victim in the house is dealt with by the way they searched the rooms. It doesn't have to be a thorough search to look for people if the rooms are set up so it's obvious if someone is in there or not. Plus, any victim would likely to make themselves known to the police.
  18. True but you don't know that the house wasnt thoroughly searched, even by a quick look. The rooms could be empty with no furniture, cupboards may be shallow with no chance of hiding anyone. And that is my kinda my point. No one can judge as they don't know as they weren't there
  19. They did search the house. Can clearly see that every door visible in the video was opened and looked in or the room entered. It obviously wasn't a warrant search of premises for drugs or something easily hidden so presumably they where checking for other persons in the house. And a flat or house that size it would be easy to quickly ascertain if someone else was there. Unless you get into the realms of fantasy like people hiding in fake wall panels etc.
  20. What new powers where they abusing? Have I watched the same video as you? Where does it show the preceding moments of the video that explains why the door was forced. That video only shows what happened after the forced entry. And that was the police acting as professional and reasonable as possible when confronted with an aggressive male. As I've said repeatedly, no body knows why the police forced the door. So you can't judge them. You can only judge them and the other guy by their actions that are physically shown on the video. And in my opinion, there is only one person in the wrong that is shown in the video. If the police have acted unreasonably, the guy can make a complaint that will be investigated and if there's wrong doing he will likely be compensated and any wrong doing by officers punished. I can't get my head round anybody who supports someone using threatening and abusive behaviour and language to the police, never mind a woman. That's wrong. You can argue all day long that he was entitled to be angry etc etc but make no mistake, he was solely responsible for the actions of the police by not doing the decent and normal thing of co operating with a lawful request, ie "Sir, it's the police. Can you open up the door so we can talk to you" which is undoubtedly the very first course of action the police would have taken.
  21. You must be getting out then. Hope it's for essential reasons only 😉😂
  22. Ok if you think the guy was acting in a reasonable manner, fair play. I think he was a scumbag and none of that needed to happen if he had just opened the door and spoke to the police. All I seen were the police acting professional and reasonable under the circumstances. If you think calling a female officer a ****, amongst other things and threatening her is acceptable I can't be bothered wasting my time trying to reason with you and your prejudices. Hopefully you get on better with your new neighbours and the folk who bought your old house aren't experiencing too much grief from your old neighbour.
  23. +1 I think folk are getting cranky because they can't get out 😉
  24. How do you know they didn't take every reasonable step and was advised to force entry from by a senior officer in this particular case? But yes, they would have to take all precautions before forcing entry. If you think that guy was justified in behaving that way towards coppers, especially a female, and especially when you don't know the background of the alleged offence, that says a lot. Police don't kick in doors for no reason. If you're getting your door kicked in, you're a Ned. Usually partaking in illegal acts such as dealing or battering people in your house. Ive never ever known or heard of anyone getting their door forced who didn't deserve it. It may happen, but if it does, it happens very rarely and usually by a screw up such as wrong address. Try speaking to a copper in China, Iran, America etc like that and you would soon regret it. Even in European countries they are far less tolerant, and that's speaking from personal experience. I never said you lied but I stand by the fact that I find it hard to believe that the police never responded to a firearm incident but would did come out for a stolen push bike. And did you complain about the lack of response regarding your shot out windows?
  25. I find that hard to believe. Firstly that the police didn't respond due to a firearm incident. And if they didn't, what action did you then take to complain? Secondly, that the police advised you to take matters into your own hands. Maybe next time someone smashes your windows, you should report a disturbance and not answer the door. Might get 4 or 5 coppers turning up then.
