  1. I take it you don't have young children and work then? 8 or 9 weeks is a long time to be off work looking after your kids especially if any support you have, such as grandparents, are self isolating.
  2. True but China's use of fuel fell considerably due to their shutdown so that had a knock on effect with supply and demand. Yes she will be worried but am sure she will be better placed than most to have the care needed to help her mother.
  3. Looking on the positives, the price of diesel has fallen recently with all that's going on. Every cloud and all that
  4. Yeah the irony. Or she's thinking "screw this, this is too hard to handle. Am away on the sick to watch TV in the house and let someone else deal with it"
  5. Been a slow month for the squirrels. Constant rain and a lot of strong winds meant that I couldn't get out as much as I would like and when I did, the squirrels where cosied up in the dreys. The thermal was useful in these cases, showing what dreys where occupied. Another 12 to add anyway since my last contribution. 328
  6. A lot of times the accused will wait to see if the witnesses turn up to give evidence against them. If the witnesses don't show, more likely to get off with it so pleads not guilty. If witnesses do turn up, the accused might be inclined to plead guilty and get a lesser sentence for doing so, as they know there's a better chance of a conviction with the witnesses supporting the prosecution. But yeah an awful lot of time and money is wasted at the courts
  7. Thanks for your input, some knowledgeable folk here. It's for close range squirrels (16 yards) in the garden. The air rifle is pin point accurate, especially at this range. I've shot 40 or so squirrels with it. Every one a 'textbook' head shot. But a few out of the 40 or so, I've had to shoot between the eyes, front on. It completely incapacitates them but requires a second shot, preferably to between eye and ear side on. I was wondering if a heavier pellet, if accuracy was good, would be cleaner as it had more mass.
  8. My S410 turns out about 10.7 ft ib with 16 grain Air Arms Field pellets. I recently seen some really heavy 25 grain pellets. Anyone take a guess at what the ft ib would be approximately with them? Wouldn't want to risk going over the legal limit.
  9. Survey completed Takes a couple of minutes, urge everyone to do the same
  10. Absolutely spot on. I stopped paying the telly tax years ago and I would encourage everyone to stop paying it too. Very simple and legal to do so.
  11. Shocking and indicative of what all field sports face. If a shooter faces this harassment from the public and the police while legally controlling non indigenous pests, it shows that all of us on this forum could potentially face the same.
  12. Thanks, seems simple enough even for me then.
  13. Really liking my S410 but could do with a sling on it for use when out and about. Has anybody fitted swivels onto a PCP air rifle that could offer advice on fitting them or if it's possible to buy something that would do the job without drilling into the stock? My powder burners have always had predrilled holes or swivels already fitted and I'm not wanting to mess up the s410 stock by mucking up what should be a simple job but knowing me, will inevitably become harder than expected
  14. We hear on this forum a lot of times about how we need to promote shooting for the sport to survive and this is a great chance for someone to help out a bit. As well as promoting shooting and conservation, it's giving kids a healthy alternative to sitting in front of screens and teaching them the reality of where food comes from. Hopefully someone steps up to the mark here. I'm too far unless you want them posted and I don't think Royal Mail would be too keen, however if you PM me with an address I will write a cheque for a few pounds payable to your Scout Group as a gesture. In the meantime, hopefully you get sorted. I'm sure most folk would like to help but are too far away or can't get the numbers. I hope so, because it's either that or there's a lot of selfish and lazy folk on this forum who talk a good game. Which I'm sure is not the case.
  15. Another 10 to add over last 2 visits, expected more today but pouring down 194

    Urban Fox

Loads of urban foxes about here. Usually reasonably tame and see them often in the middle of the day. Numbers are increasing with folk feeding them and all the discarded takeaways
  17. I'm surprised and disappointed you've not been inundated with offers, unless you've received a lot of PMs. This is a great idea and one that will promote country sports and should be fully embraced. If I was closer I would gladly help but surely there are members here in any of the area's you frequent that can help?
  18. Do the rules not state that offensive language is not to be used, even if it is starred out? And the use of deliberate starred out language is a breach of the rules? I'm away to argue about the existence of God on Mumsnet now 👍
  19. I'm up for that, though you're obviously more intelligent than me as I had to Google 'kenosis' We could also have a subforum where people ask a reasonable and legitimate question and get rudely shot down in flames? 😉
  20. It does seem crazy the way the public react to the use of guns and particularly the way it's portrayed by the media. Just noticed that The Herald online has published pictures of a Tory MP or something who has caused outrage. He's had the audacity to be pictured holding an AR15 at a legal range in Prague. How someone who has committed no offence or done anything wrong makes it to the news is beyond me. Think shooting is under more pressure than we think with this type of sensationalism reporting
  21. 20 between friend and myself since start of the year, with myself getting a personal best of 11 today from a garden feeder. Can't beat the S410 for the garden though I did have one runner which I felt terrible about. 79
  22. A true countryman. Most of my peanuts get eaten by songbirds. The pleasure you get from watching the birds outweighs the pleasure from shooting the squirrels in my opinion. Amazes me when I see peanut feeders that only allows access for squirrels. Defeats the point a bit of shooting them. Yes, you're helping the songbird population by controlling vermin but could help even more by feeding the birds in lean times
  23. 999 everytime for a suspected drink driver. End of the day it's a potential risk to life. Saying that I've always had good service when using 101 for non urgent police matters
