  1. Well said Welsh 1, Up until last year I was wearing my late Dads Barbour also a Northumbria ,he passed away some 20years ago now and he'd worn it since buying at a game fair in the mid 80s,reason for buying a new Barbour is because it had turned into 'triggers broom' 4 new pockets 2 zips 9 sleeves 30 re-waxes 2 new liners!.and a I think the clincher was a note in the pocket after the last time it came back from Barbour saying that sadly the jacket was no longer a vaiable repair, and suggesting its about time it was gracefully retired!. I still have the coat and is still worn in the garden.
  2. You definitely need a will in place if you have any dependants,as it saves the state getting their dirty little mitts on what you have worked hard for,but most importantly it stops and problems between family members squabbling over what they think they should be entitled to,( not happened to me personally but have seen it sadly 1st hand to a good friend!). It doesn't take long to get it put in place.

  7. It is all down to good manners to pick up after yourself,I am a bit anal about things like this!,their is absolutely no reason why we as adults are not able to bin used cartridges and the boxes!. This is how bad I am my wife when we first started seeing each other chucked out a sweet wrapper out of the car window,I was so incensed, I stopped the car on the verge and made her get out and pick up the said wrapper. Bearing in mind we were on the new A299 Thanet way!,i might have been a little harsh but hey if some of us dont make stand where would we be!. Ps, I worked for a few Years out in Singapore and littering was punishable by flogging, and this was only 5 years ago!, Regards.
  8. Nope it's gotta be a pint of ESB for me,none of that gassy lager!.
  9. Not Forgotten, young enough to remember the news, and now work with a few who where on the platform and or involved with the salvage and recovery?. RIP.

  11. According to the owner she would have to unlock 2 padlocked gates and another key locked door to enter the enclosure!,very sad waste of a life no matter situation?.I personally think she was away with the fairys and thought she was Dr Doolittle.the news did also state she was passionate and a very experienced keeper, although she had only been working as a keeper for 12 months!.
  12. Hi All, Well David's SGC has been delivered this morning much to our surprise!,as I had spoken to FEO and because of the Kent backlog it was going to be another 9weeks minimum!, So thank you for the comments and here is one happy Dad looking forward to this weekends shooting with his Son.

  14. Cheers, that's for the electrician to deal with I'm just the trench digger!, I know very little about electrics I can wire a plug and change a light bulb and that's about as far as my experience goes!.home Wednesday got the guy coming round week on Tuesday and all being well one trench neatly dug. Cliff
  15. Its for a hot tub, power and lighting in the inside and deck lighting. From the consumer box to the shed is approx 40mtr so yes I would imagine their would be some drop in voltage, the hot tub Co are saying they need 32amps?.
  16. Cheers fellas, Yes it. Will be done by an electrician, just that I'm offshore until Thursday and I've only got a week before I'm off again so just trying to hit the ground running, with what he would be needing to run the SWA to the shed!, as only comms I've got is email, so can't ring anybody to ask.
  17. Afternoon all, Bit of advice needed from any electricians on running a power supply from the front of the house were the consumer box is to the back garden about 40mtrs in total, just want to know if its possible to run alongside the house in some form of outdoor trunking or will it need burying?. The messing about with the electrics is not something I am to doing myself apart from the digging if that's the right way to go. Thanks.
  18. Hi fellas, Just back from a walk with the dogs walked from Swalcliffe through to the towers at Reculver, must be about 12-14 miles round trip.thing that's bugging me I have 3 dogs I carry enough bags with me to last a lifetime,I am very conscious about the mess they leave and pick up after them,I can just about live with the mess i find on the pavement by saying well it will at some point wash away although if I do see someone not picking up after their dog,it's not unknown for me to pick it up in a bag and deposit said bag in their hand, with a very load comment!.but what beggars me is the people that bag it up and either drop it back onto the ground or fling said bag onto the verge or hedgerow!!!.their are lots of dog waste bins and litter bins along the seafront here,so no excuse their. Rant over SR
  19. Top place for Honeymoon/holiday,been out a couple of times, good all inclusive packages.top tip if you do go take with you pencils pens note books as most hotels have a school affiliated to them or if you do a tour/rainforest tour hand them to the children at your stops.as they are all desperate for education. Outside the resorts it is very poor family's living in lorry containers etc etc.but like most places keep your wits about you and be aware of your surroundings if you go into town,on your own.
  20. Hi All, Just a quick update,I have spoken to the teacher concerned and after explaining that I don't think she was suitable to make a clear and unbiased reference ,she has now handed it over to the CCF CO,so all being well my sons reference will be winging its way back to Maidstone by the weekend!. So many thanks to you all for the information given. Regards. Cliff,
  21. Cheers Fellas, No the school wasn't put down as a reference it was a request from the FEO to write to the school,I have asked the school via email to explain wether it is the schools policy or is it down to the teachers own personal views!,and not to reply until theyhad spoken to myself.i also think my lad will have no trouble with obtaining his SGC,I am just worried that the school will reply to the request in the negative due to policy or the staffs on believes!. Just gutted for my son as he is distraught that he might not be able to take part in a pastime we both enjoy and to be honest he is very good at!!. Thanks for your response I will update as soon as I have spoken to the School.
  22. Morning PWs, My Son had his SGC interveiw over half term that went well, and was told that his School would be asked to provide a character reference, which I thought would be fine, but received an email from my Son's School stating that they are not in a position to offer such a reference!,will this response scupper his chances of obtaining his certificate?. He is part of the schools Combined Cadet Force, and has taken part in .22 rifle shoots!,and we have regular goes and lessons together at clays, at our local clay ground. I am waiting on a phone call from the school asking to explain themselves, before i pick the phone up to talk to the FEO. Regards
