  1. Bought the new DVD at the cla. It's great and I have to laugh at chris keep forgetting to pump the gun. I had the same problem when I bought a benelli supa nova but I just love it now and it's become my go to gun. Just can't wait for the season to start now.
  2. 6 pairs of waders later i can definatly say that without doubt i will never ever buy another pair of boot foot waders again. ive had a variety of different types from cabelas and they all end up splitting at the crease in the foot from walking. luckily, cabelas do have a good returns policy and although it is a lengthy (approx 10 day) proccess, i have sent mine back for a full refund with absolutly no issues. i even did 30 odd flights in my supermags before they split, i emailed cabelas, went outside and hosed them down, let them dry, sent them back and got a refund. you cant knock that for service!! i now have stocking foot waders with the wader boots as these are actually made for trout fishermen for walking up to the hill lochs and lakes in the the highlands. so far they have been very good this season. the bonus is with the boot being actually laced up, it stays fast in place on your foot when you are up to your knees in mud.
  3. I have a springer and hes ace for wildfowling. the trick is to let them run around a bit rather than walk to heel on the way out to the marsh to get the sting out of their tail. he will sit completely still for hours after that, well apart from his tail which just dosnt stop!. if ive got decoys out, he will not take his eyes off them and just sits waiting until he gets a bird to retreive. im lucky with mine as he is a big lad and equally as big as any lab bitch that ive seen.
  4. army issued goretex is awesome. im lucky because im actually issued it. the new mtp camo pattern is fantastic and blends in with the marsh a lot better than the old green dpm or desert camo did. if you couple the trousers with decent full leather walking/patrol boots and army issued gaiters then you can do away with waders as the whole system is completely water tight but at the same time 100% breathable.
  5. will do probably. i just thought id let someone grab a bargain van. that was the idea anyway. chances are it will still be sat in the drive in 2 years time full up with decoys and fishing gear because at the minute its saving me having to build a shed!
  6. i am asking £1680 for the van. sold as seen.
  7. im located in grimsby, lincolnshire. the ad says offers, obviously i want more than £1680 or id take it back to we buy any car. i am not in a rush to sell or id of got rid by now. im still using it as a daily runner due to it being so good on fuel! hopefully it will be some use to someone as a little work van or handy for putting the dogs in the back.
  8. have for grabs my fiesta van. silver, 1.4tdci, 06 plate 96000miles, taxed last month and got 10mnth mot, does nearly 500miles to £40 of diesel = 50+mpg? bad points are that it cuts/stalls out when putting in reverse sometimes and also when accelerating. the front bumper is also a bit wonky and got a small crack in it at the bottom of the front skirt and the spot lights in the bumper don't work either. this is due to a unavoidable badger on the way home from work one morning 3 years ago! there are a couple of other marks such as a small tear in the roof lining and a couple of stone chips and scuffs on roof and back bumper tailgate. other than that, its a good little van and ive had it since 19000miles with no problems. only reason for sale is because ive got a 5 month old son and I cant put the baby seat in it! ive had it valued at 3 independent garages and they all said its worth 1800-2000 with a forcourt value of 2750+. I took it to webuyanycar.com in Lincoln and they offered me 1680. with these prices in mind im open to sensible offers. pm me your mob number and ill send pics of the van. (I don't have a clue how to put pictures on this forum!) thanks for looking.
  9. i use half choke in my benelli with gambore 36g 3in #3 for duck and 42g 3.5in #1 & bb for geese.
  10. ill second that. get bisons off ebay. i have got some and after starting the season as my spare pair, they soon became my go to first choice. ive spent a fortune on cabelas ones (supermag 1600's and warrior breathables) and although they are very good, they dont take the punishment from walking and the boots end up splitting. i have now used the bison ones for fishing through the summer aswell and they are still going strong! for 50quid you cant go wrong. ill be ordering some more while they are as cheap as they are.
  11. im all set. new waders, got my carts, oiled the gun, even the alarm is set on my phone for the early hours on the 1st!
  12. dont buy one. get a hilux or ranger instead.
  13. i know this is an old post but ive just seen these fabulous pics, it looks really nice there.
  14. might have to order a couple of slabs at this bargain price!
  15. id second what craig123 says. the herters jacket is outstanding for the money. im considering buying the short wading version as a spare jacket. i have the cabelas gortex brushbuster and it is awesome. i wasnt cold or wet once last season and its totally breathable for long walks across the marsh.
  16. i do mate. they taste just the same. i tend to dice them up and stick them in a casserole or pie.
  17. just watched the dorset wildfowlers dvd. very good and worth watching. also thumbs up for chris greens films. watched all three of his wildfowling films and they are absolutely supurb. hope he brings out a fourth one. id like to see him bring out a more instructional wildfowling film focusing on marsh craft and tactics.
  18. seriously, buy a decent pair and you wont have problems with stitching and boot leaks halfway through the season. i purchased a pair of breathable chesties in the form of the cabelas warrior 2's, and i have not used neoprenes since. the warrior 2's are warm with 1000gram thinsulate lining in the boots, they have armour tough leg coverings and 1mm thick neoprene on the inside of the material up to your thighs to keep you warm. the whole construction of the waders is made of the dry plus gortex material. since using them i have never been so warm and comfortable. not one bit of sweat after the usual 2mile walk with all my decoys etc and they are a lot easier to shoot in. check them out on the cabelas website. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Footwear/Mens-Footwear/Mens-Waders/Hunting-Waders%7C/pc/104797980/c/104747580/sc/104674680/i/103895280/Cabelas-Warrior-II-Waders-Regular/749092.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffootwear-mens-footwear-mens-waders-hunting-waders%2F_%2FN-1101198%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_103895280%3Fsadid%3D44000000016004977%26WTz_l%3DUnknown%253Bcat104797980%253Bcat104747580%253Bcat104674680&WTz_l=Unknown%3Bcat104797980%3Bcat104747580%3Bcat104674680%3Bcat103895280
  19. its a shame, because i like the gun, its really comfortable to shoot and i shoot well with it. i just cant believe ive had these problems with a £1400 gun!
  20. well, i went for a flight this evening and had 4 misfires, using gamebore and lyavale 3in 36g 3's and 4's. i made specifically sure that the bolt was slammed home every time i reloaded the gun and the misfires were infrequent as to when they happened: one was the first shot, 2 was on the second shots and one was on the third shot! i still managed to nail 5 teal, 1 wigeon and a mallard though!
  21. i fish from cleethorpes. i have my alaska 500 at the humberston yacht club and launch off the beach. i would seriously consider buying an alaska as they are about the most seaworthy boats you will find for the humber. by that i mean, they handle the weather and tide, get on the plane quickly, they are stable, and dont skate about at anchor in the tide. ive been in some right bad stuff in mine and although ive been thrown about a bit, the boat is safe and easy to handle. its got a suzuki 60hp four stroke on the back and she will cruise at 18-20knots all day long in most weather, with a max speed in the flat calm of 32knots. i take her across the binks no problem and have the confidence to take her right out wreck fishing on the right day. me and my mate in his alaska 500 went out 28miles lastyear to the edge of the silver pit and she was right as rain. if i was to sell her and get another boat id be after an alaska 600 or somthing like a raider 18 fisherman for the extra deck space.
  22. thanks for the replies. i wasnt aware of the benelli click problem. i will in future ensure that the bolt is released and driven home properly and that i dont knock the bolt. i shoot the 3.5 mammoth 3's in steel because they kill clean and humanely and are just the ticket for geese and duck. thats my opinion. if i was just expecting wigeon and teal, id use 36g 4 or 5 shot depending on the circumstances. but please, i didnt want to start a cartridge/shot size debate thanks.
  23. I am now on my second brand new benelli super vinci in 2 months as i had problems with the first one misfireing, jamming, and the camo rubbing off (i did 20 odd flights with it and quite a few clays). That gun went back and i got my replacement gun last week. So far ive done 3 flights with it and put 20 cartridges through it. All gamebore mammoth 42g 3 1/2in steel's or remmington sportsman 42g 3 1/2in steels. Whilst out thismorning i swung the gun for what would of been the best chance ive had all season at some wigeon that came straight into the deeks, and click. Another misfire! Im sure its not the cartridges as ive never had a problem with them before, exept from in the other super vinci that went back to gmk. But just so that i can make sure, id like to hear if anyone else or any members on here have had similar experiences with the cartridges mentioned or the gun itself, before i go and complain for a second time to my local gunshop.
