  1. Some people scoff at them but the Hawke is excellent value for money, I've got a few of their scopes and am very happy with them... especially considering the price! I have a close range bunny setup on my cz511 and use a Hawke HD (around £40) that came with the rifle (baught used), I was going to swap it for something later down the line but its served me very well and is defo a keeper... the optics are clear, its accurate and stays accurate...
  2. my 511 is the subsonic model (dunno if they all come with that stamped on?) so cycles anything, I dont know much about 10/22 but do they prefer HV? Can you get a softer spring for the action?
  3. Agreed on the winchesters, cant remember the last time I had a jam with them, cci's go through ok with the rare jam. When I first got the rifle it wouldnt cycle anything but winchester, it was all in the mag lips, a little tweaking and some cycle tests got her chewing anything... even remington subs!
  4. I have a CZ 511, when I got it (cheap used) it wouldnt cycle very well at all, i found the mag lips to be slightly out of wack, after a a little twaeaking and some trials I've now got it cycling anything I stick in it.... I might get one jam in 100 shots. The rugers plastic mags but could it be worn?
  5. I'm also thinking about putting in a variation for a FAC shotgun, I'd like to use it for vermin, ground game, winged vermin/game and clays.. I already have a .22rf and .17rf for vermin and ground game am I liked to get granted permission for the shotty? Do I need a shotgun lisence to shoot winged game?
  6. theres an easy solution to all this, badgers were protected to stop badger baiting... simply take them off the protected list (they arent endangered and never were) and make badger baiting a VERY serious offence. Their numbers have exploded as they have no natural predators and are having a field day with all the free food we're supplying them... if the farmers werent farming the badgers wouldnt be there in the first place.... not at the current numbers anyway. I'm not a farmer but have many farming friends, the financial and emotional damage of getting tb infected cattle is aweful... many are closed dairy farms with no contact with any external cattle. I personally couldnt shoot a badger but having seen their effect I can see why a farmer needs to control them.
  7. I was grated 500 to buy and 750 to keep in 17hmr...
  8. I have both and would go for the .22 first, with a mod and subs its totally silent which makes it a very versatile tool. My 17hmr is a hide setup as its not so limited for range but thgat does make it a bit of a one trick pony.
  9. comes down to personal choice when debating between two good rifles.... which one do you like best?
  10. thats a joke... thats not a servicable part! I'd be having harsh words with both webley and the gunsmith...
  11. altho they dont beat any price quoted else where as stated on their site... I've tried twice now and on both occasions I was fobbed off for whatever reason.
  12. I like shooting alone as much as with company, both have their place.
  13. ditto... I just got one... cost me £11 (inc remote switch) and £5 for the scope mount...
  14. ditto... most accurate out of the box semi available (used) today (without spending silly money). I have one and love it.
  15. I had this one my .22lr for a while http://www.jsramsbottom.com/products/red-dot--laser-sights-red-dot-sights/jsr40b-jsr-40mm-superdot-redgreen-dot-sight-%5Bblack%5D-scp-rd40rgd.html I was shooting acurately at 50yrds no problem, its accurate and stayed accurate for the time I had it on the rifle..... great bit of kit for the money.
  16. I've got two CZ, my .22lr is a 511, I picked it up used for £150 with moderator and scope... after a good cleaning and some fettling shes a lovely little rifle... I also like that its used and I'm not too precious about it, its my Go To gun. I also have a new 455 in .17hmr... which is very nice too
  17. I got my FAC a couple of months back... I only asked for .22 RF and .17 RF and was granted both. I got the .22LR first, I bought a used cz511 with scope and mod for £150... yeah its a little rough around the edges but shoots sweet (which is all that matters really). I shot that for a couple of months until I was happy with my shooting and had learnt the ways of the rifle (accuracy is key and the smallest thing can make your shot miss). Once happy with myself and the .22 I went out and got a new CZ455 Varmint cutdown thumbhole .17HMR... a truely awesome rifle that shoots amazingly well (I am now the weakest link :(). The 22 has now become my go to hack rifle as I'm not that precious about it, I use it on the move, lamping etc... the .17HMR I use off a bipod from fixed positions as it can reach out alot futher than the .22 and I cant hit **** shooting free hand.
  18. sorry missed the blue question... they're red tipped... what the difference?
  19. the price is per 100 whatever amount you buy
  20. Nice... you'll love it... I have two CZ, a 511 and guess what....
  21. Hi I only put winchester subs through my .22, they're the best accuracy per £... Winchester subs per 100 is £7.60 Hornady .17s per 100 £18.50 My gun guys good
