  7. The reason it was low was, the light was fading fast, it was raining like hell, mist was coming down, my scope was getting wet and fogged up, and, I could just make out the outline of the deer. I agree what you say about a head shot at that close a range. The head was facing away from me and she was starting to quarter away from me. I decided to take the shot as the gamekeeper wants us to get rid of all the muncjack.
  8. I went stalking with two of my mates last Tuesday. The weather was terrible when we got there (Gloucester) I saw two Muncjack in the woods but could not get a safe shot at them. After two hours, one of my mates suggested that we go into the field by the woods, because there has always been foxes there. We set up under a tree, with our backs against an old stone wall. Within 10 minutes, a muncjack came out of the woods and into the field. I shot it, with my .243, it ran 10 yards, and dropped dead. It was paced out at 65 yards approx. After skinning it yesterday, I am going to have a Venison stir fry tonight
  9. I give mine a good blast with WD40, only if it's been out in the wet. The excess oil will dry off. I also put the T8 on the radiator if it's been out in really bad weather, and when it's dry, oil it. A good grease to use for the threads is Copper grease from Halfords. It's used on brake cylinders etc. I also use it on my shotgun chokes.
  10. I once overheard a clay pigoen shooter telling his mate " The reason I missed all those clays was because the sun has heated my barrels up and affected the chokes!
  11. Welcome Chris. Hope you enjoy the site.
  12. If I am shooting Crows/Pigeons, I put them out in their groups - keeping the crows about 15 yards from the pigeons. Also, if there are fence posts where you shoot, place some crow decoys on 1 or 2 of them. I also put some magpie decoys close to the crow decoys, or on the posts.
  13. Lightforce 140 Scope Mounted lamp for sale. Scope Bracket and red filter included. Excellent condition. Used approx 12 times. Great for lamping rabbits/foxes. Sell for £45 inc pp by recorded delivery. SOLD to tommynz pending usual. Thanks
  14. The WAM fox call is meant to be quiet. You can blow it harder and get it a little louder, but it's best to blow it softly. You can also breathe in when it's in your mouth. In a good breeze, the fox will hear it, believe me. I have used one for over a year and have found it to be a good call.
  15. I think you will find, like I did, that you will not be able to get them from the States, owing to their new laws. I tried to order 2 magazines for my Remi 597, and was told that ' gun parts ' cannot be shipped outside the U.S.A. If you know someone in America, get them to order them and send them to you. They will have to state on the package that it contains something else. It's a chance you will have to take.
  16. Does anyone use filters when lamping. I have two red ones for my lightforce 170 & 240. What is the best colour to use
  17. A mate of mine has offered me 8 legs of venison for £90. I told him that it was too dear ( 2 deer )
  18. Hi, I have used the callmaster, and have found it to be good. It's not cheap, I paid about £170 inc pp. A lot of the call on it are no good to me, but the rabbit, hare and magpie sounds are good. I have called in quite a few foxes and magpies ( for photographing) with it. Another electronic call is the Johnny Stewart one. It cost me £50 locally and can be used remotely up to 50 yards. I haven't tried it yet but the calls on it sound good. Steve
  19. I have a S A K on mine too. Very effective and low on cost.
