Kamala is on a role. The momentum is building. 🤞 for some normality in US politics. Trump's interview last night at the black journalists convention has to be seen to be believed. JD Vance and cat ladies without children. John Giles GOP mayor endorsing Kamala says it all when he talks about the low bar for officials and Trump not meeting it. 95 days and counting.

That is a true sportsman. If you have a go at any pistol target shooting, the skill level required is insane.

Again I hear what you are saying. We will have to agree to disagree. It's not a loophole there are separate pieces of law. What is clear is that the Tories did not address the issue. Labour will address it ( i hope) and claim tax from thousands if not hundreds of thousands of very high earners currently exploiting the ordinary tax payer on PAYE.
-
Yes I agree but in this instance the Tory government has declined to tackle the problem. It will be tackled (i understand) in October.
-
So what about them? What point are you trying to make? We were talking about doctors pay, not nurses. I said. Given the training, the responsibility, the liability and the bodily fluids of the old the sick and the weak they deal with there are not many able to do the job. No disrespect it's a fact.
-
These are not loop holes. Divi's are normally separate from income and under legislation are treated separately.
-
What about them? The NHS can and does charge for services to visitors but there is a reciprocal funding arrangement of some sort with some countries. On tourists I would insist that any tourist has health insurance to be admitted. They do.
-
No its a fault of the Tory govt. Labour will close it down.

I get this all the time and they want to use Amex. Some even have their kids on the company pay roll, modelling for promo material, earning just enough to stay under the tax allowance. Making personal loans to their own business for cash flow, paid back with dividends. All legal of course. I can smile when they are complaining of the vat on the £20k a term school fees. 😁

Public sector pay has to keep up.We don't have enough doctors. They can earn more working pretty much anywhere else. Given the training, the responsibility, the liability and the bodily fluids of the old the sick and the weak they deal with there are not many able to do the job. If you want quality you have to pay for it. The quality of the service delivered becomes more relevant when you have to use it.

There was a life time contribution cap under the Tories. Now removed but the taper relief on payments in is still there, high earners currently have no relief. As you say It makes sense to give relief particularly for those buying into 'British Funds'.
-
Yep my mistake your right. Just reminded myself. £1 reduction for every £2 earnt.
-
Ok. You earn a £100k the next £10k will be taxed at @90%. The top rate of tax is 45% for those on £125k plus. If you pay yourself in dividends or capital growth you are taxed at a different rate using capital gains, if your lucky around 18% rather than 45%. You could even loan your own company some cash and pay yourself back after deducting costs. Because you are earning so little you can exploit the tax relief for pension payments that for everyone else will be subject to a taper. This would allow you to offset any tax you decide to pay by putting the cash into your pension. Life time allowance now removed of course. Its wrong. The more you take home the more tax you should pay. It's closer to 90%. 40% tax and the loss of your personal allowance. at £1 for £1
-
I agree it's not a lot. Fuel costs have reduced a little and the pension benefit has been increased (it needed to). Lets hope that the govt can drive growth and some of these things can become more affordable. Unfortunately it does not stop at fuel allowance.

Must have missed that part. Oh you mean the payment for doctors so that we all get the treatment that we deserve? That we can start to tackle the back log of waiting lists. Desire for mass immigration? Not sure where that comes from. Yes they are trying a different approach but then we know that the previous approach was not working. Energy costs through the roof? Oh you mean increasing the proportion of renewable lower cost energy? Or did you mean allowing on shore wind which reduces costs even further. Or did you mean the objective of being self sufficient in energy? All of which increases the opportunity for the UK to be leading these industries by in both design and manufacturing.

The same applies across the range of benefits. Some say that the unemployed are encouraged not to work because benefits are too high. Others may have earn't or saved more through there life and that's to be applauded. You get out what we put in.
-
I hope you are right. For the first time the vote for the right of politics is split. The vote for the left has been split for years with the libdems, greens, snp etc. If Labour can hold the centre ground and the right remains split it will be near impossible for labour to be held to account. Our political system only works with a decent opposition. I suspect rather than fail on delivery it will be more a case of imploding to bring them down. For now they are making the right noises.

It makes no sense to me that people I know earning around £400k pa pay around 15% tax. Call it what you like but to me that is wrong. It does not stop at language. Many children turn up unfed, unable to use the bathroom alone, unable to speak.
-
Damn capitalism 🤣 No idea on this but if benefits must be at a level of need not want. You would rather pay your taxes to subsidise the rich that can avoid tax? You would rather the less wealthy pay more in tax than those that can afford to pay more?
-
Not sure what you mean by the first part of your post. There is not ample support for kids with difficulties. Far from it, with many just main streamed and support withdrawn. Lets get the state system levelled up. There should be support for g&t there should be help through uni for those that need it. We should be subsidising education in core subjects that add value to the UK economy. All children should have a chance through education.
-
I have no problem with them being well paid. It's not so good if they are paid whilst not at work on such a lucrative contract.
-
Is the BBC still run by BJ's mate?
-
I don't want to subsidise it as we are now.
