  1. I am just quoting Vance who likened Trump to a US version of Hitler. Maga will sign up for anything for a vote. Now who is pulling the strings of the orange man? What commie menace? Putin is a gangster. No more a commie than Trump is a Republican. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/jd-vance-once-compared-trump-hitler-now-they-are-running-mates-2024-07-15/
  2. You cant continue to collect your giro without demonstrating you are trying for work. It's pretty hard to do that when you don't have a phone. Even the system of staying in contact with the job centre sensibly requires a phone. My phone contract is £12 a month there are many cheaper than that.
  3. He may be and maybe Vance is in another satsuma clone happy to throw his lot in with Hitler. The current uncertainty of relying on a flaky ally has posed the question for Europe.
  4. Why would we do that? See out what we have and replace with new euro kit. https://internationalbusinessguide.org/trump-business-career/
  5. Biden is yesterdays news. Biden is not running. How many of Trumps team have ditched him? Trumps populism is not Republican conservatism. Divine intervention, anti satanists, was a theme running through the convention. Project 2025 far more than a think tank. It's a collaboration of dozens of conservative organisations. Same speakers at 2025 heritage event as at the RNC including Ramaswamy and Carlson. Carlson backing Vance. Russ Vought played a major role in 2025 now signed off as Policy Director RNC. Trumps agenda 47 overlaps directly with much of project 2025. Much of the carp that comes out of Trump is project 2025 rhetoric. Trump at a dinner sponsored by the Heritage Foundation in April 2022, saying: “This is a great group, and they’re going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do and what your movement will do when the American people give us a colossal mandate to save America.” Trump has met with Kevin Roberts several times. In July this year Trump said he knows nothing about the project or who is behind it. Clearly another lie. Republicans are conservative they don't like liars. With Trump in place Putin will be emboldened. Nato is based around US defence. Without the US support for Ukraine Europe will have to defend alone against Putin. Europe will not spend money on US weapons going forward when it can make it's own that it can use as it chooses. The UK will want to be part of that spend program.
  6. We are in the country close to a lake and huge bird colonies. Flys and other insects are a problem. Fly tapes are at best messy. I bought a plug in chip shop style purple tube zapper like this https://www.nisbets.co.uk/nisbets-essentials-commercial-fly-killer-16w/fd499?vatToggle=incvat&cm_mmc=PLA-_-18129508709-_--_-&cm_mmca1=go_18129508709____c_&kpid=go_cmp-18129508709_adg-_ad-__dev-c_ext-_prd-FD499_sig-CjwKCAjwhvi0BhA4EiwAX25uj_JXdlGsza66F11tvizzTfINdehbnu6Ltmq6UCQ9nK-_5-_VREir6xoC8UUQAvD_BwE&gad_source=1 It works a treat but it will not get fruit fly's. For them i simply put a slice of apple in the bottom of the catching tray and they get zapped milling about.
  7. I think its time to open our eyes and try to better understand what is happening. Trump has the intellect of, at best, a satsuma. He has nothing like the mental capacity required for the job. The Maga element of his party has already tried to overturn the election results to hold onto power. Now the rules are in place and the courts are aligned to allow another go and a smoother transition, to hold onto power. Vance is in place with the support of Musk, Carlson, and more importantly Sacks so direct links to Heritage foundation. All the players directly linked to project 2025. WW3 no I dont think so it's not in a dictators interest. Hopefully this is all wrong and if Trump is successful the Republican party prevails over Maga. Either way for the UK we are looking decidedly exposed. Its good to see an opportunity for closer security ties with Europe. Hopefully if the US pull out of Ukraine the Europeans will let us join there defence industry alliance at least then we would have common interest control of weapons.
  8. I fear you could be right. Will Biden be the last President?
  9. You dont need a degree. Either way we don't want untrained people doing the work. It's a skilled job. 🤣 What nonsense. If they are already on a pension they have likely finished work. Even the massive (🤣) pension they pay for, which will be DC rather than DB is not enough to attract the workers. Maybe common sense is keeping people away. They see the hours, the lack of pay, the personal risk and they go for something easier and more rewarding in the private sector.
  10. Cant read the blacked out bit but An alternative route is through an apprenticeship, where you can start working and earn while you qualify as a social worker. You need four or five GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) and A levels, or equivalent, to do a Social Worker Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship. It takes around three years to complete.
  11. They are excellent. If i was only clay shooting I would get some more. If you are out in the field and out often then if you are anything like me they are a liability. Very easy to loose.
  12. Thank goodness for that. He is far more lucid than the opposition even in his parlous state but I could not see him surviving another term. I wish him well.
  13. You have no proposals to deal with the shortage of staff. What will that do to tackle the shortage of people in the profession? You don't have to have a degree to work in the sector now. We can't rely on charity and good will in the civil service anymore than we can in the private sector. If they are out there why are they not coming forward? Really 🤣 So you base your judgement on a survey of ...one? My boss Clive Dutton died before retirement as he worked so hard he had no time to deal with his illness. After that Bob Kerslake (now dead) an unbelievable work load and a brain the size of a planet. There are slackers in all sectors and all industries but senior civil servants in my experience work above and beyond it becomes a way of life not a job. I know some in my office that stayed in the hotel next to the office as they had no time to travel home.
  14. From the tippling philosopher, interviews at the Republican party Conference. A brilliant interview with Farage by Emily Maitland starts at 8.45. Follows on with some Maga MTG makes you realise our politics is not as bad as you think.
  15. The GTA’s mission is to promote and protect the UK gun trade and it carries out this remit at all levels, from representation at Government to day-to-day queries with Firearms Licensing Officers and local authorities.
  16. Thanks. He picked it up on a coastal walk 😒 about a week ago. Unfortunately its the second time last time was pushing through for pheasant a couple of years back. I suspect its a spaniel thing.
  17. I just bought a case of 12g clear pigeon at £99 (i feel ripped off at that price). 🤑 The last lot of 20g subs I bought were £386 a thou. They are all pretty expensive now. Very nice session with the 20g @yickdaz
  18. Excellent work out. Nice to be able to get close. I had a few myself over standing crop on Friday. It was a 400m walk in to the flat patch and carve a hide in the railway embankment. Picked 10 and dropped nearer 50. I have had to leave my dog as he again has had to have grass seeds extracted from his ears.
  19. Good work. I have made a hide in the middle of a crop with just the smallest flat patches. Using the tractor lines to get in. Drop the birds for the foxes.
  20. Will they not need a phone for job applications? Internet for job searches? How about banking to collect a giro (or whatever it is).
  21. Maybe your survey of errrr 1 is not so representative. Do you think?
