  1. +1 David has a point there!! Copies stored by a farmer or persons allowing shooting permission would possibly breach data protection and is a current cause for concern for BASC. The latest BASC magazine has an article around inappropriate storing of license copies (page 8 Warning to Clubs on gun data security) syndicates & wildfowling clubs etc are being warned NOT to keep copies and if they do have current info destroy it ASAP. They also reckon that providing the info may cause the license holder to be charged with an offence and have their license revoked in the event of a theft!! If I were granting the permission I would ask to see the insurance cover not copy it and have current address and contact numbers. I think the recent sad story re George Digweed strikes a bit of a note. If criminals know stuff is there and they want it badly they will come get it.
  2. Am happy for it to be North Ayrshire for the 9th then forest est exp later in the year, very keen to go there
  3. Sorry I missed this due to being poorly. The next one sounds excellent and is near my original hometown!! I might go down day before and stay over at the clachan inn Anyone else up for that? I think they have secure storage etc

  5. comes with the spare spools?
  6. For that price I would def get a copy! I did see them for cheaper but wanted it quickly and knew my kid was going past the shop and could pick it up on the day.
  7. I am reading Chris Batha's book the instinctive shot (a practical guide to modern game shooting) at the moment and would recommend that also for anyone looking to improve, he goes into detail about techniques for all aspects including driven birds. Its 20 quid in waterstones and a great buy!! His gun mounting youtubes (and other stuff) are good too. The book covers all the usual approaches swing through, pull away, maintained lead, churchill etc he goes into detail about what approach he thinks works best in various situations. Might be a helpful read
  8. Why not? Seems a fine choke combo for some shoots, some would say too tight for rough shooting and prefer them a bit more open though.

  10. I have a vanguard u yoke that goes on to any monopod / bipod / tripod if you are interested new and unused £23 posted. It swivels. I bought but then learned that it was not best for use with a springer air rifle.
  11. Barbour Dunmoor Fleece Gilet worn twice so in as good as new condition £80 delivered. Size Large.
  12. Hi Mark some good points already made above. When training I am always switching direction to encourage the dog to be moving with me. I am close to Glasgow if you want to meet up and discuss and do a bit of training to see if I can help?? I also train with other guys with spaniels who have been into to it for a lot longer than me. I'll PM contact details.
  13. I used to leave sitters until I read Will Garfits book and his words on sitters, basically pest control is the order of the day. Now I shoot them, of course a more sporting shot is more enjoyable but dead pigeons are what the farmers usually want. I eat my woodies so also see it as another easy bird for the table
  14. There is also a guy that advertises on guns and pegs and shootmart. Goose and duck shooting with optional accomodation and meals etc Dumfries and Galloway prices look ok.
  15. Have gun back and leather recoil pad is here I must say dry mounting with the pad on it feels much nicer already just need to get out and try for real now.
  16. Aigle parcours all the way have a pair that are 12 yo and I walk the dog with them every day the rubber is now micro cracked so not good for standing in water as such, but they are still usable. Also have a 2 yo pair of the same boot. I tried the harkilas (no the full zipped ones) on a few months back in the shop and they felt well comfy.
  17. + 1. Lots of variables and of course personal preferences the best for one man might not be the best for another. Yes under 12ft lbs can kill rabbits.
  18. Was out for a walk about today noticed there is next to no beech mast off the trees. I know you get mast years with an abundance of beech nuts and acorn, but this year seems to be very poor.
  19. Cheers Mossy have a leather recoil pad ordered off ebay should be winging its way now.
  20. Got an airgun in the summer and had the joys of tasting rabbit for the first time in about 20 years it was delicious all I did with mine was put the cut up pieces in a cast iron casserole dish with plenty of onion and carrots a few herbs, pepper and ahem a can of koppaberg pear cider and some water once ready removed the meat and thickened the juices with a little flour. I think this would work well in the slow cooker. Fancydoing it in wine next time PS I watch some of the Scott Rea vids for butchery and cookery on youtube there good stuff
  21. Might be chiefy as you know I got it over your neck of the woods a gunmark kestrel? Took it into the chap this week I explained it was not happening with snap caps, he popped the safety off thumped the stock on the floor and hey presto gun went back to safety, it is now fixed and I'll pick it up next week and see how it goes am def not shooting thumb up I wrap my thumb whatever the stock. Out for a short walk about tomorrow with the O&U will prob now miss a few looking for the back trigger LOL.
  22. I can vouch for this stuff it is brilliant. I am just beginning to revamp a silver pigeon classic that had tarnished / worn case colouring (beretta use a coating rather than the real thing). I have took off about 90% of that with autosol, the rest I'll sort when I get the gun stripped down in the srping. I also buffed up the action on a gunmark kestrel with it and it shines like a new penny Just use a cloth though, lightly first then apply some pressure if required. I would not use the wire wool first with this stuff it is powerful. PS Plenty on sale on ebay around 4 quid mark. Also if you can remove the stock do that too or if you cant mask it off with tape to protect the wood.
