  1. four nights lamping with .22 and 17hmr this year grand total 115 sorry running total 310
  2. Round prices have steadily crept up which i think is putting people off. In the summer i can get though 2 sometimes 3 boxes a night at £10.99 a box in the summer with no return on my shooting, but it is a super rifle/round on the right night (very still). My whole set up only cost £348 new if my memory serves me right and iv'e shot 7500/8000 rabbits in 9 years
  3. I use the 30g 5 version very smooth and low recoil and cheap
  4. Wouldn't chop mine having said all that, cheap CZ model, thousand of rounds and thousands of bunnies consistently shoots buns at 150/170 yrds in the summer off the high seat best one ranged at 228 yrds inconsistent in the slightest wind or rain though.Have had a few funny smokey rounds but cleaned the moderator (sak) and fine again there was quite a lot of sooty residue
  5. had major issues with one batch with the bullet pulling out in the chamber after a miss fire manufacturing fault apparently , the batch was exchanged and fine ever since.Only noticed when trying to chamber another round in the dark had to poke the stuck round out with a cleaning rod it happened 3 or 4 times in two boxes of 50.I was told in the shop that only one or two company load 17 hmr so would have thought this would have happened across several brands. Did hear of a t-bolt owner (i think) managing to get one behind the other
  6. Has anyone ever see or done any testing on how wind affects shot strings.I ask as i shot a month ago in almost hurricane condition at birds 45/50 yards up and noticed the wad(plastic) as you would expect, go in all directions just wondered how much the wind changed shot strings on cross winds, head on etc.
  7. should have gone to SPEC SAVER sure it said RIFLE in the article
  8. my usual round is norma 75g very very accurate £26.50 a box and the v max bullet very rapid expansion no runners at all (fox only), tried hornady SST 75g just as accurate but don't expand anywhere near as much, i found lots of solid lead cores in the range sand after shooting these, need to be more accurate in placing the shot and £26.50 a box sticking to norma for now
  9. As said on a previous thread i pattern my 20 with various brands and chokes and found plastic wads do pattern tighter also found brand can vary considerably to.Gamebore pure gold 28g plastic 6s, awesome. Will do a 12/20 load comparison
  10. Just looking on just cartridges for some good game cartridges for January and gamebore are selling blackgold dark storm 32g fibre for £314/1000 and wool wad for £408/1000!!! how the hell do they justify £94/1000 difference for the same cartridge or am i missing something, or is wool just a gimmick not wool at all. As a farmer i know wool is practically worthless you can buy a hell of a lot of wool for £94
  11. I have 725 32" 20 patterned mine out of interest and found not to much difference between 1/4 1/2 & 3/4 until you use plastic wads then it tightens a lot i found you can go down at least two chokes size gamebore pure golds 28 patterned superbly
  12. For me 12 bore White Gold 7.5 fibre (clays) Clear Pigeon (game) 20 bore Hull Stirling game 28g bio. and Gamebore traditional game 24g fibre (game).Gamebore comp. fibre 24g & 28g 7.5 & 8(clays)
  13. Yep loud and get it right you could have a meal ready for the plate i am sure they were the first attempt at a hand held nuclear missile
  14. I brought one in november 2014 i've shot game, pigeons and sporting clays with it, shooting 24g and 28g of various brands and some express 30g on some good pheasant and partridge and absolutely love it. Easy to carry on a game day great fun on clays. Incidentally i patterned it against my 12 bore and the 28g loads were very similar choke for choke in fibre wad at 30m+ but a fair bit tighter in plastic wads, gamebore 24g & 28g then hull 28g in 6s threw the best patterns really good on game, never felt under gunned. Not cheap at just under £2000 but hopefully hold there money second hand. Now my favorite gun
  15. Just weighed my Browning 725 20 bore with 32" barrels 7lb 6oz, my Miroku 7000 30" barrels 8lb 2oz. My old english side by side which my father always shot 30g or 32g through (with seemingly no ill affects) 6lb 7oz ! so may be we under estimate what a 20 bore can shoot. Might try some Black Gold 32g or 34g
  16. i also use gamebore comp either 24g or 28g in 8s though bit slow compared to a few other but easy on the shoulder and cheap
  17. Agreed Pothunter put 95 cartridges thorough my 725 20 bore on clays a month ago, mixture of 24g and 28g hardly know you've fired it, whether it's the inflex pad or the weight of the gun, which i think is fairly heavy for a 20 bore (not sure the weight of it) but certainly very comfortable to shoot. Your right in that a serious clay buster wouldn't choose it but it's great fun to shoot.Cartridges a bit pricey though I did put a few express 30g 5 though it on pheasants not many, and you do notice the difference
  18. Hi brought the 725 20 bore 32" with PoW stock fantastic gun to shoot with, points brilliantly all i use now for game and clays now full recommend it
  19. brought a browning 725 32" fantastic gun, been roost shooting pigeon all this month with it never once felt under gunned used 28g 6s took some nice 35 yarders. Also patterned it at 35m and worked out almost the same choke for choke as my 12. But plastic wads do pattern a fair bit tighter
  20. brought a browning 725 32" fantastic gun to shoot been roost shooting all this month with it never felt under gunned using 28g 6s at some nice 35 yarders would recommend it to anyone
  21. Agreed "The Nut behind the butt" is 90% of the equation but a good well made gun coupled to some good cartridges surely has to give an advantage
  22. I think when you get into long barrels 32"+ this it where the perazzi, krieghoffs etc. come into there own, the mid range berettas blasers etc. haven't quite got the balance, hence the gun is quite hard work. I've shot a HPX in 33"& 34" and shot it very well for just having it set up roughly by John Jeffrey better than my browning i've had for 20+ years. But still not sure what the advantage of longer than 31/32" barrels are
  23. just got the browning 725 20 bore in 32" points brilliantly i shoot it better than my 12 in 30", cartridges a bit pricey though
