  1. Probably asymptomatic but tested positive, I'm not sure why people are testing younger kids, not unless they are displaying symptoms or actually Ill. I'd have also thought by now that most teaching staff would have been able to have the jab by now so if a kid tests positive then do home tests each night rather than sending a full year home. How many died on the roads last year though? People keep saying more are dying on the roads but it's not the same.
  2. Thankfully no, said 10 in critical care and most who are going into hospital are in for less time thanks to things learned and vaccination, but cases across Lancashire are still rising.
  3. Got a full school closed in Chorley, kids in both schools we deal with being sent home again. https://www.lancs.live/news/lancashire-news/preston-hospital-sees-covid-surge-20862625 More people in hospital in Preston than since February with covid. Got told about uni students in Sheffield queuing for six hours to get the jab which I was surprised about. An article on Lancs live I read today said Blackburn had now peeked with its numbers, things are meant to be stabilising now because of testing and vaccination, but all the other areas around Blackburn are steadily rising and Blackburn Hospital aren't taking any new inpatients. Not quite the end
  4. It's nice you have put a platform out to make it easier for them 😅😅😅
  5. That shell doesn't look that big, probably because of how big the gun is behind it, I really like these refurbished guns and the history behind them, get yourself to Jersey when you feel like flying again, you'll love it. Sounds like a long drive but a nice trip 👍
  6. Makes sense if you have had both jabs, its supposed to reduce the effects if you do get it, they were talking about people taking LF tests if jabbed and having contact with someone who has tested positive, think its being tested? It might be to stop staff getting covid or taking covid home to others, how else do employers protect staff from covid without being vaccinated, staff won't want to wear masks forever and can't keep distance from the patients or residents of care homes. I can see it being made a condition of employment in the care system, NHS, probably education.
  7. Don't go bringing common sense to the debate. It could be to stop staff needing to shield in the case of another big outbreak or to try and keep other departments running?? There was something on the radio about care home staff having to be vaccinated in England, but I haven't heard anything about it since.
  8. I'll take these off and sell elsewhere, cheers.

    Jay shooting

That's probably because they are coming to your squirrel feeders I would imagine??
  10. I'm like this at big wood, it's far easier getting to the feeder at the bottom than the top, I was dripping last week.
  11. I'm about 50/50 this month male/female And 100 yards is nothing really if they know there is food waiting, so long as your feeders don't run empty they'll keep coming, until August anyway.
  12. I saw a clip of something a while back that was really clear, wide angle and like you say not too much mag, but was probably expensive. I'll try and find it.
  13. Good work, imagine how great it will be when a red turns up one morning thanks to your hard work 👍 Great that the farmer reported them, and a great result with the traps, I hope he dropped the traps off for you? Another busy morning well done. I went back to the feeder I shot Tuesday, I wanted to check the camera, only a few shots of squirrels going past the trees with damage heading for the feeder. Might have been these two? Both bucks but the one on the right was huge.
  14. I bought second hand after borrowing the same unit for a week and being seriously impressed. I took some pictures today, managed to hold my camera against the eye piece, far from great but it gives an idea. View by eye, you can just make out the squirrel. And they glow, times wrong by an hour, hard to miss when they look like that. Blackbird, it was just moving as I took the picture, I shot one at 645 and after an hour and a quarter nothing else was seen, but a quick scan before I came out in the open showed the second coming in along the floor. But way more money, although the other unit price you have mentioned above sounds like good value, probably because it doesn't say Pulsar. The other thing is the magnification on the newer units is higher, that would take some getting used to. I still haven't used it at night, just morning and evenings. Give us a bell at the weekend mate, it's good to have a look through one properly.
  15. So I bought my Pulsar XQ23V around xmas time and it's been used every week since, 2/3 days a week and has been great. I read up a lot on them before I took the plunge, I bought an older model yes, but it still wasn't cheap. Now I was expecting to only be able to use it properly until the leaves came on, expecting the warmer days and air temperature to reduce its effectiveness but I have to say I'm still being pleasantly surprised. I'm still managing to pick out squirrels in the woods, watch the birds, voles mice and deer, even insects glow up, bird boxes being used glow and I can pick up the residual heat on my feeders from where a squirrel has been sat before I arrive. I went out Tuesday afternoon and still found the sheep in the field glowed despite the warm afternoon and full sunshine. Is this what others find with their units? I'd expected it to have been put away in the gun cabinet by now waiting for winter but it's still a case of gun, thermal and should I take anything else. Very happy indeed. 😁😁
  16. You have to hope that people high up think the same, is there any point? Imagine the cost and logistics involved trying to sort it, I'm still surprised they brought in the licence in Scotland.

    Jay shooting

But Jay's in large numbers can be a problem, and aren't grey squirrels supposed to bite out the growing point of acorns to stop them germinating, which makes you question the article. Jay's will and do spread acorns, but if there weren't oaks there to begin with then how did they do it? The wood where I shoot has oak saplings everywhere at the moment, they were scattered across the floor and everywhere you step at the moment has a tiny oak tree. I also know I'll see Jay's when I'm in the wood because they are coming to my feeders, but they are incredibly wary, I couldn't imagine getting a shot on one, they land then are gone.
  18. Just needs a few pictures mate, but when your walking and looking that's normally the last thing on your mind. Got to love those Scottish midges as well, tiny little things in there thousands.
  19. You've made it clear that you have ignored the rules when it suits, and encouraged your kids to do the same, messed in shops just for fun, that's what I disapprove of, but your happily getting on with things because you have had the jabs, and from what you have put so have many around you which is great, the nasty Government kept us in lockdown while they tried to give the majority the vaccine and it's been a great success. If they had shown more resolve and stopped travel earlier to and from many countries we probably would be out of this now, Since my m-in-L has had her jabs she's been happy getting on with things, seeing the grandkids going out for meals, enjoying life. Like I've asked others, what can't you do at the moment? A large part yes, but still millions that haven't, so would you just ignore the areas seeing an increase in cases? That is a real shame.
  20. I hear you, but maybe you aren't listening, a large part of the population have not had the vaccine, age, religion, health reasons which is why we are where we are. You have been vaccinated and are getting on with your life which is great, you are already doing as you wish, you've made that clear, HOPEFULLY when the areas that haven't been quick to get the jab catch up the Gov will make the decision to say crack on.
  21. That's why I was shaking my head then, the idea of choosing to be in close contact with people from all over, for now that seems like a very daft idea indeed. Like I've said, when cases aren't rising all round the Northwest and further because of this Indian variant then we hopefully remove the last restrictions. The vaccine hopefully keeps us out of the hospital and reduces the impact if we get covid, we all know that. I agree with all of that, travel to India should have been BANNED and I was shocked it wasn't, its because of everything you have said we are still seeing some restrictions, such a large number of the population can't be restricted while everyone else carries on it would be unmanageable.
  22. Don't say that, your not allowed to be alright! Those in your out of the way pub might be ok, but the wider areas ie towns are a different case, until the Indian variant kicked off I was convinced everything was going to go to plan, hospital admissions right down, very few deaths, cases down, getting to the point where there was little point them saying on the news about it. People are getting on with their lives, that's why I've said the only restriction I see is wearing a mask when indoors, which is just inconvenient not a big deal. I'm hoping the next month sees people from the areas with the Indian variant continuing to get the jab, the number of cases dropping not rising and it not spreading further then the final restrictions are lifted. Imagine this, what if they had said we are lifting all restrictions despite the rising numbers from some areas, then in 6 weeks said oh poo, we got it wrong, we're going to have to go back to a full lockdown, it's much easy to keep things as they are with minimal restrictions than have it escalate and lock us down again.
