  1. I'd have thought the noise of the air rushing past the pigeon's ears as it flies or dives down to decoys would prevent it from hearing talking in a hide, which is a pretty soft sound, compared to the switch of a safety catch, a gun breaking, etc. I naturally would stop talking or whisper if you see a pigeon coming into the pattern.
  2. Yes, well, maybe for erudite people like Bumble lurchers and beaters are quarry. Its all about how deep you dig the hole or how remote the ditch is for the bodies isn't it?
  3. Anyone know where they pinks from the Tay are feeding? I don't think the residents have established themselves yet, there's not nearly as many about as in late nov, early dec. Apparently they're just feeding close in to the river banks.
  4. No the problem with that is that RT and BBC are both left wing. For the truth to be somewhere in between contrast either of them with the Telegraph, which is obviously more right wing, or maybe the Times (more centrist).
  5. Aye Mark M remove the chillies if they're ripe - if they're almost ripe, put them in a paper or bag with a banana in a cupboard and they will ripen (this really works). As Steve D said chilli focus is the thing to have. Don't need a huge amount but certainly a bit more than they suggest (10ml per liter of the top of my head). I have some birds eye chilli plants which have loads of fruit but they too seem to have hit a period of no growth, that's fine. They should ripen eventually. Just leave them too it and don't overwater them.
  6. Best thing to do: Start listening to LBC (leading Britain's conversation). There's a wide range of presenters, from Nigel Farage to Owen Jones, and lots of people who talk a lot of sense. There's an app you can get for your phone, or computer, but it's obviously on the radio as well.
  7. Thanks (I wasn't too clear), that's pretty much what I was asking about. I wanted to know if people did put pigeons in freezers for later, and if they didn't explode as they thawed or something...
  8. Hi all, How long can a pigeon be frozen for (in a shell decoy to keep the shape)? Is this ever even done? Just for shooting the odd pigeon up to a week before decoying. Thanks.
  9. SRS did you make a video on your shooting with Varmintshootersuk?
  10. Or they could have put piles of bacon by all the entrances and starved them out?
  11. Perhaps they should have tried ferreting the cave complex. A few long nets and purse nets ought to get them?
  12. Great bag well done, about to try the same tomorrow. Can you get away without using a magnet or flapper do you think...I've only got half shell decoys. And two crow decoys (trying to cover as many species as possible!) Thanks.
  13. Great video - Didn't realise you were posting to pigeon watch as well! Presumably after youtube though..
  14. Video of the 'Grand Slam' being dropped by a Lancaster bomber March 1945.
  15. Why don't we get the scientists who developed myxomatosis to create a cure for it ...there are easily enough enthusiastic people in the UK to keep the population down to a manageable level in areas where they are detrimental. But above all they are great sport and available to most people to shoot. Seeing a rabbit has become too rare...
  16. Can anyone recommend a good spotting lamp powerful enough to identify bodies as many of the powerful LED handheld torches only really do the eyes. Where we are there are a lot of deer so you can end up spending ages watching some eyes at the end of the field thinking it's a fox as you can't see the outline of the body. I'd be looking for one that clearly shows the bodies up to 400 meters at least ideally. (They always exaggerate the beam's range on product descriptions so it would be good to know from people that actually use them!) A handheld lamp that plugs into a 12v port is what I'm after. Not one you have to permanently attach. Thanks in advance!
  17. Thoughts on the fox hole? Didn't dig it as deep as I wanted, ran out of time, but some 2 year old decomposing pheasant ought to bring them in, and I've staked some dead chickens and pigeons around the edge.
  18. Thanks for your help. Unfortunatly we do have some chicken carsasses thanks to the fox in question which I'll put out. Also got some corvids/pigeons to maybe help bring him into the area. And I have a mouth squeaker, I'll use that when it gets close. I think last time I scared him away by using the tenterfield quite loudly when it was about 50 yrds, so it moved off. Thanks again.
  19. Anyone have any tips on calling foxes in daytime with a shotgun? I don't have access to a rifle at current so I'm having to use my trusty AYA yeoman with 42g 1s which does the trick. We have had a series of chicken raids and a few days ago I called a fox out of a wood - too far for a safe shot- using my tenterfield whistle, but I'm pretty much restricted to daylight shooting. It's a pretty dense wood with some grassy patches in, but I still haven't found the den even there has been a fox presence pretty regularly throughout the years. In short, some advice from the experts how you'd go about calling foxes in woods during the day (with my shotgun/accuracy = 30 yards assured killing range) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  20. Yes, her and the SNP are brainwashing people into thinking that they can't possibly not support Independence because the only thing they keep hearing is 'stronger for scotland' or 'we want the best deal for Scotland'. This is a common tactic when a question like where will the money come from is asked. That or blame the satanist cult of westminster.
