  1. I don't shoot .17, but my .22 is zeroed at 50yds, I mostly chest shoot rabbits but if I want to be clever I hold under in close and hold over further out. I don't tend to shoot past 70
  2. don't know why anyone bothered posting after this.
  3. I think it's a noble cause. Every pigeon that dies an unnecessary death on Britains roads is one I could have shot coming in to my decoys.
  4. very true. and perhaps paradoxically they are a menace to Hedgehogs, I suspect in no small way contributing greatly to their decline, hedgehogs being another opportunistic predator of ground nesting birds. and in the ground, they love to root out bumblebee nests.
  5. interesting observation. I like shooting geese but I would far far sooner shoot a teal going like a ******* jet with the wind across the salting, or widgeon coming in under the moon. Now that you mention it it does seem goose shooting is in fashion at the moment. as for duck numbers I would say about the same about as last year.
  6. there is very little evidence to support the claim that Grey Squirrels are responsible for the egg thieving they are blamed for. Actually Corvids are far more common nest raiders. I'm not saying it's not a worthy cause but may I also point out that the red squirrel is also a rodent and as such just as inclined to rob nests as the grey squirrel? being ground nesting birds woodcock are also under threat from Hedgehogs, Badgers, Foxes, Stoats, Weasels etc etc. I wish you luck in eradicating the Grey squirrel I truly do but it's impact on woodcock numbers will be minimal.
  7. this. I can't understand why everyone gets so worked up. just relax it's no big deal.
  8. amazing sight and sound. And taste if you are fortunate enough to have shot them.
  9. just make a set of twin sticks out of B&Q garden canes, Quad sticks if you want to be really steady.
