  1. How many of what size pellets/balls did you use? I'm assuming with 8 hits in the circle thats more than one cartridge? D
  2. Thats what put me off with 2x big dogs - got an Audi A6 but really the boot isnt big enough on that Decided to get the Audi and rent a big SUV if I need a long drive with dogs, bags and passengers D
  3. I know this is old thread but I ended up here after reading about the honda (good luck) - I had a 2016 Touareg 3.0 V6 R Line - Awesome performance and cheap as chips for the spec at the time. I only had it on lease for 24m so at that old I wouldnt expect to have any issues - I would buy one from then (2015/2016) now as long as it had been serviced but wouldnt buy the older model like pre 2005 or something. You can get really really cheap ones if you wait. I also tend to look at the MoTs History - firstly check the mileage is consistent but if you see a lot of fails over time with things like tyres, split rubbers and leaks and stuff that would normally be picked up by and decent garage that services it you can be fairly confident it's not been proactively maintained. D
  4. I live my life by that theory but just forget to beg for forgiveness
  5. I personally would typically call a ground I've never shot at before BUT I very often get told there's no need to call just turn up is fine when I call. I was on holiday in Devon & Cornwall and went on the website and everything seemed dandy - I called up and asked all the normal questions (I thought) having looked at the website first. It was only right at the very end of the conversation that I said, great see you tomorrow when they told me they were closed on Wednesdays (or whatever day). As I still had the website open on the laptop in front of me I looked again at the opening times and was confused to see they were open every day except Mondays and the person I was talking to said yes thats wrong on the website. DOH! So I learned two lessons that day; Dont take everything published on a website as gospel - ask about everything that will affect your activity. Dont assume that someone will tell you that theres innaccuracies on the website - even if you are calling them to ask about shooting in the next few days - ask about everything that will affect your activity ! D
  6. Some grounds (like Sporting Targets Bedfordshire) have a mixture of buttons to press and audio (e.g. saying "pull" will triger the clay) Obviously depends what you want to shoot and if grounds local to you have that capability but might be worth a call to ask Otherwise just a polite excuse me as others have said D
  7. It seems; Indonesia has expressed interest in acquiring more submarines to protect national interests and guard resources and sea-lanes. In 2006, Agence France-Presse reported that Indonesia was contemplating buying a total of 12 submarines from Russia, South Korea, or China. Owing largely to budgetary constraints, these procurements did not materialize; nevertheless, officials from TNI-AL continue to express aspirations for a large submarine fleet. [5] In 2010 Deputy Naval Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Marsetio expressed his belief that Indonesia needed 39 more submarines to protect the country's vast marine territory against external threats. [6] Media reports citing Indonesia's Defense Strategic Plan 2024 note that the document is aiming for a capability of at least 10 submarines. [7]
  8. I learned after the event that it was all a cry for help for me to tell her I loved her and beg her to come back and so on anyways having a fight was exactly what she was after without really knowit it herself D
  9. I noticed a lot of people said get a really good solicitor but what is a really good solicitor? When I got divorced I was advised (by what I understand to be one of the best) to - and I quote - "let her have whatever she wants" whilst at the same time I had my father telling me to not let her have anything. Hmmm... what to do. Well I broadly followed the solicitor's advice. My divorce was over in 6m and she took everything she could and she run up credit card debts and then disappeared off the face of the earth and I was left with nothing and overdrawn. But I could move on. Long story short when I compared that to my dad's divorce who spent hundreds of thousands (lieterally) over years fighting my mother for years and years with the best barister money could buy he / they resented it for the rest of his / their life. I was lucky, no kids, not much apart from a house and car to fight over - I sold the car and paid the finance off so there was nothing apart from negative equity on the house to fight over. Things can get intense quickly - I would be tempted to store weapons elsewhere under such circumstances as others suggested. At the time I felt hard done by losing my Akai stack stereo system (!) and all my CDs and so on but TBH I am not bothered about it now and wasnt bothered after about 12-18m. Found a great girl and moved on. Never think about the ex really. I think not getting that invested in the arguments helped me immensely in getting over it. My dad was still bitter and twisted 20+ years later. So my advice would be to try and remain amicable and just remember you can always buy another Akai stereo but picking the fights over stupid little things isnt worth it and just ends up in tit for tat retallitions and getting a point scored - if you dont engage with that it takes some of the heat out of the situation. D
  10. Indeed - just warning anyone that subscribed - I subscribed years ago (I think it was $3) and havent used it at all since 2017 - they still charge you. When you don't care if you pay less than $10 a year then they suddenly hit you with $84 - a bit steep me thinks !
  11. Nice - particularly on a phone
  12. I recently got an invoice from Photobucket for my renewal. My annual charge had gone from something like $9.99 to (wait for it) $84 - *** ! I hadn't seen any change of terms or anything so went back to Photobucket support asking what was going on. Support told me exactly a month before they took my payment they sent an inconspicuous email entitled "Big improvements and member account updates" In that email it said (in the very last line of blurb you'd have stopped reading all the other rubbish) "we have discounted our retail price of this plan by 50% You will only pay $35.94" so they never actually stated they intended to charge me close to $100 going forward. This obviously confused me somewhat as they had actually charged me $84. I went back to support and didnt get a reply so i went back again and they said we are waiting for me to give them permission to refund the difference (between what they had said and what they had charged. They obviously thought I'd know that as they hadn't replied to my email. I am really not happy about their transparency and more to the point the way their support team seem to avoid actually responding to the question and when they do they seem to have a very high handed and arrogant approach of they havent done anything wrong. I'd just like to make anyone else that has bothered to subscribe to photobucket to "avoid" the ads (I still see ads even when paying $84) anyway Buyer Beware!! I would suggest anyone thats not on the free plan that uses Photobucket start moving their data somewhere else. D
  13. I think I do mean a chronograph then, but wouldnt say no to a loan of a fancy watch either 🙂 I think I even got that wrong - must be russian
  14. Does anyone have a chromometer that works well with shot I could borrow for about 4-6 weeks please while I do the texsting (Ideally Bucks/Beds/Northants/Herts/Cambs) D
  15. Thats funny 'cos my wife has done the same with my money 🙂
  16. Ironically my wife's brand new black Audi A5 (delivered a week or two before lockdown - DOH!) was chosen specifically because she needed to travel to customer sites and not offend the sensitive greener customers with her previous car Land Rover Discovery 3.0 SDV. That said, at £199pm its going to take a lot of lease monthly charges to catch up with the last £3K service of the Disco when the inlet manifold had cracked. This section is "Off Topic" isnt it 😉 ? Seems the consensus of everyone that loves MB is they are good but (probably too) expensive, but get one she likes MB or otherwise I'd say the big decision is fountain pen vs. rollerball. D
  17. Profilagcy - Hmmm.... Just to clarify - I personally dont give a toss, some people spend their money on their kids schooling, some people spend their money on their house, clothes, pets, pens, watches, designer handbags, holidays, (guns?) and I dont think it's my place to put my values on what someone else does, unless they winge to me that they have no money and they seem to have spent lots on something random (like an x-box or a piece of art) - but it's clear to me that managers in IT and procurement roles absolutely do have a certain expectation that a professional person will act, dress in a certan way and drive a certain range of cars. I'll explain why... I have a good friend (IT Contractor) that bought himself a used newish Jag when he got told he was going to need to work at a different site and had to travel about 200 miles a day if they extended his contract and he argued that he would need to buy a new car if he was doing huge mileage and the IT Manager that signed off his 12m contract sacked him on the spot when he saw him arrive in a nearly new Jag, and confided to an admin assistant later he wasnt prepared to have anyone who worked for him have a better car than he had. Thats pretty narrow minded. Reminds me of the Monty Python/Two Ronnies "I know my place" sketch. That said I dont think the point I was trying to make is specific to industry, it was more about being predjudiced based on a small view of someone else (and to be fair that is an instinctive thing humans do) - I personally know a builder that went bust after buying himself a historic RR for about £5K and everyone stopped using him, presumably because they thought he was charging too much, which is a poor assessment. I have also had the heated discussion about what represents value - I bought a (very expensive at the time) watch in 1980s/90s and its still on my wrist now despite having owned others since I love that watch, it's excellent at keeping time and very comfortable - so its cost me about £20 a year to buy it - is it better to buy throw away plastic watches every 6-12m ? I dont think so I'd rather buy something I really like and keep it. Back to the original question - is a good expensive (fountain/rollerball) pen something she will cherish for years - depends on the person in question but I would think probably. D
  18. I have two MB rollerball pens - when you have to sign a document with a client its not big and clever to use a BIC biro to sign off tens of thousands of business (a bit like the guy that turns up in the customer car park driving a Fiat 500 when his/her competitors are in BMW/Audi/Mercs - will the perception of the other person go against you) I bought both from ebay "used - nearly new condition" for about £100 each - I only bought the second 'cos I lost the first and then found it again (didnt bother claiming) I think they are smoother to write with and better ergonomically than many pens BUT the first one I bought and lost is much more comfortable (for me) than the second which is a tiny bit skinier and depending on the thickness and colour of the refil it really improves the readability of my scrawl I also think a lot of the newer ones are too fat and ugly (pot kettle) for my liking Notwithstanding "losing" the first pen for a while you also tend to take care of a MB pen BEWARE - there are fake everythings on ebay so make sure what you are buying is legit - I never buy refils from ebay always a proper high street jeweller they are not that expensive anyway. D
  19. At about 15m (by big steps not laser measured) the 9mm #6 will rip through one side of a plastic milk carton full of water and the shot will "bend" the inside back wall of the carton but it wont penetrate, whereas the 410 #6 much of the shot will go in and out at the same distance. Water is very good at dissapating energy so although not fully scientific I would expect to shoot smaller quarry at 15m with a 9mm but as stated by someoine else they swapped the shot for bigger shot which was effective on rats and the like at greater distances. Where ? Do they have stock ? But still difficult to get, most people dont carry stock - I had to pay £15 delivery on £20 box of 50 so if you are buying larger quantities you can spread the delivery (or better still you can buy it locally thats brilliant) D
  20. Dont spose it matters though if they are out of stock - which is what I've found noboboy has any near me I have never even seen a .22 shotgun so interested to see it with my own eyes That said I wont dispute their capability based on no history or experience and I get that airguns are overlooked by some too
  21. Well that doesnt seem right - they do fall into the category of having 5 or more shot none of which exceeding .036"
  22. Just as a reminder does anyone in Herts/Beds/Cambs maybe Essex/Northants/Oxfordshire have a stash of 410 reloading bits (or a .22 shotgun/Crono to loan) they dont need and could free up some for testing.
