  1. Awesome I’m in the north west but plenty of grounds within 35-45 mins of each other!
  2. If you’re local that would be cool. always more fun to win graciously or lose terribly with company 🤣 where are you based?
  3. Ah I see. Spitfire is my closest but have been burning too much cash on lessons. Hopefully not for much longer! if they ever fancy a new shot joining, I’m always up for company
  4. It’s 35 mins drive I believe. Are you going Monday?
  5. Hey are there any fellow shooters in Hampshire? Just looking longer term at potentially forming some friendships to go to shoots as my friends don't shoot. Maybe we need a billy no mates (Billy no clays? lol) section to match people Slightly more shorter term, I am hopefully days away from getting my certificate, home visit was 3.5 weeks ago. Looking for someone super kind to let me join them within travel distance of Hampshire on Bank Holiday monday to shoot? It will mean I would kindly ask you to share your gun, but happy to buy the bacon butty and brew as warmup? I believe Ower is shooting but again don't know anyone local! Longer term preferred but this weekend also would be so much fun too Keep safe guys and dolls and enjoy your long weekend!
  6. "do you remember when...." Funny how I instantly got taken back to where I was for 911 (dentist waiting room with my mum, and I asked her what awful movie would show that in the morning on TV). Same for Princess Di, I was coming off night shift and woke my parents to tell them. I never knew the full significance til later but the fall of the Berlin wall. That's a biggie for me, as was the Challenger spaceship disaster. So sad. The worst memory for me? The day I said goodbye to my dad going out to the Gulf war, and realising **** just got real. I think I aged a decade that day. For closure, he came back safely, but young me didn't know that at that point. So many other points in my life.... Covid news - telling my team we need to prepare and being laughed at Osama being shot - it's "over" A culture change over gay people, and the adoption of LGB into LGBTQ+ etc to embrace everyone The first Smartphones started by the Apple revolution. Telephony fundamentally changed. (don't cringe too hard at the old lighter app or beer drinking app!) "Terrorism" took a new form like never before Brexit BLM Finally, all those fads..... Flossing. Gangnam style. Ice bucket challenge. Cinnamon challenge. Now, looking forward.... we have some inevitable events coming that will shake the world.... the outcome of Afghan, ISIS, IS, Taliban etc. But one that I think will change the global landscape will be the death of Her Majesty The Queen. (I do not wish it however like taxes it is one of the inevitable things at some point). (selfish note - seeing my boys become men, get married etc. So excited!)
  7. So the PCC for Hampshire may have her political agenda to show how Hampshire are leading/helping a review from the horrific dealings in Plymouth. She has paid for that advertisement and it’s good to read she thinks Hampshire is a gold standard and other forces could learn etc, rather than discussing how changes are required or tightening/restricting more. Her replies to comments seem to reflect the same and I think it’s good that it’s pragmatic and positive for the shooting community, whilst addressing issues in other county forces that don’t have a mandatory gp letter for example. It’s good the focus is shotcomings of other county forces rather than a focus on gun owners. Am I too naive to think this is a great news story? I appreciate she’s getting kudos for the constabularly she works with, but it appears to be a really neutral positive post that is pragmatically dealing with mitigating future risk, rather than penalising the wider shooting community.
  8. CFG have 10% off with code TGS10
  9. Evening all I see there have been posts in the past. I am looking at Greenfields of Salisbury selling a 28g Jocker for 189/thou (they have a cheaper "Trust" cart at 185 so this isn't the cheapest) I'm curious as to how they reclaim the lead? I have seen a shoot in Italy that uses like a parachute under the clays to catch lead, is this what Jocker does? Just seems like a good way to recycle lead. I am hoping that they shoot well, many people from this forum spoke kindly of them Is recycling lead the future?....
  10. mmmm postal order waiting buddy, PM me your address! How does it shoot by the way, I've seen it in a local shop and wondering if I should go for a cheap new semi, or a second hand branded wooden semi.
  11. Indeed, however the word investigate is what's important there. Hearsay is dangerous, and reliability of intel is graded also. I don't disagree that it shouldn't have raised a flag, but then we don't know if an investigation did go forth but someone in a position of medical authority said no concerns at this time. The truth will indeed out.
  12. Dare I attempt to be pro-police here for a moment, and say that the usual multi-agencies may not have offered the Police the information that was required that would clearly give cause for concern? An FEO can make decisions only on the information presented on his available systems. If GP, NHS, MH teams etc didn't pass information on, it won't be on PNC or local Police database. I think we need to give the Police a bit more credit here, and whilst I stand to be corrected in an authorative review, that the Police may have little blame. To me it sounds like better cross-agency information is shared, but the issue with data protection and GDPR etc, is exactly how much can/should be shared before it's against someones rights. Similarly to laws meaning Police can't keep fingerprints and DNA for more than 6 months unless you're successfully prosecuted, keeping everyones prints would mean more crimes solved, but it's against a persons rights. If D&C implement changes and is seen as gold standard, other forces will follow. It is very much the case of Policing, that a county force will be seen as gold standard, and other forces will copy best practice.
  13. Legally it is a weapon. A shotgun is a long barrelled firearm. Its creation is to shoot metal pellets with the created purpose to "kill". This may be used for clays only, but by its very creation it is a weapon. Same as a slingshot, bow and arrow, or catapult. What you are thinking of is when something becomes an offensive weapon. You're thinking S1(4) of the prevention of crime act: "Section 1(4) defines an offensive weapon as “any article made or adapted for use for causing injury to the person or intended by the person having it with him for such use by him or by some other person”.
  14. Great tip on newly bought carts, I hadn't thought of that! TBF, my local school uses Lyalvale, and they've always seemed to have treated me ok, I have no negativity against them, but my instructor hates them! That said everyone slated the Amber carts, and I thought they shot beautifully
  15. Sometimes you need the ****storm to settle before people are willing to listen. I will put on my rose tinted glasses and say that I hope those discussions start once the understandably strong emotions have settled down, where all parties can have a fair say. If you research into some of the records in parliament on things on gun law, you may be surprised how many people are pro-gun. I wouldn't mind doing tougher applications such as FAC, although the hassle of asking permission to change guns etc would be quite the inconvenience. That said, I have far worse issues in my world, and would do what it takes. It would also stop impulse buying because something is pretty
  16. Hull superfast are banned at one of my local venues. I believe noise related.
  17. Good point, well presented. As a newbie, I need to get used to my gun, ideally without too much bruising to my shoulder (which I had recently and it made the last 20 clays really un-fun!). So, removed the thump, so I can focus on learning. I've not tried many shells, and I have no authority or knowledge to say what's good except for the 5-6 types I've shot. So at my newbie level, something that doesn't leave a tonne of **** in the barrels seems good! Also, to me (and I may be wrong), lots of **** in the barrel is unburnt or badly burned powder, meaning the shot is inefficient? I don't know.... maybe I am too focused on an unimportant element. For a new shooter, it's really hard to navigate the complexity of brands and loads! 24g Amber (taking colour out) vs 24g gamebore load. I have no idea, hence partly the question. I *can* afford £250 a thou rather than 200, but without the knowledge of why and probably experience then I am probably not going to see any difference. I guess my question is also "as a newbie are all cheap carts equal, til I become more competent". I'm not sold on subsonic and superfast. Choke....well TC, I have spent hours reading about choke, and as it is very opinion based rather than fact based (I have yet to read an unbiased post in general) then I am as lost as I was day 1. I at least understand the mechanics of it! Where the pricepoint affords it, I will gladly. If Empire had a better price, I would be going for them. As a newbie, the extra price and my poor skillset seems pointless at this stage. I would love to try 10 of their carts to see how they fire, to see if they worked for me Maybe I'll bump into a Hampshire bod who'll have a pair I can try one day. Until then, it comes down to bottom line. Yup, shot 75 today and for £20-25 more than a cheap TT1, that kind of was the point. I know it's only 2.5p more a shot, but pennies add up. How would you or TC (or anyone else) rate TT1 Vs gamebore velocity? Separate Q - what do I get for £25 more as a newbie? Genuine trying to learn Q
  18. I've tried to reply to this thread a few times. I've deleted each time. My opinion is simply that all these posts will be read by news groups, police, and other authorities. For that reason I have decided to not post anything except I hope there is a pragmatic answer from all the different angles, from medical reporting and frequency through to not punishing the many for what we can all agree was a troubled young man, that does NOT represent the licenced many. Very much like when a Police officer is caught doing something wrong, it shouldn't reflect as the rest of the force being bad. Simply: he was *NOT* 'one of us'.
  19. The only FACT is that you cannot fairly compare your situation to someone else, even if it was the same county force.
  20. I'm not sure I'd want to be stopped by the police and them seeing that on the back seat! I really like the neat wiring. That makes my OCD happy! ❤️
  21. I shot my potential 525 purchase today. 21/50. I was disheartened but remembered your score, and also the old boys I was with didn't get above 36, so I took sympathy in that! Lets not discuss the skeet score though! So much fun, but gosh.... eek!
  22. Just looking at Greenfields, Litespeed and TT1's seem to be sub £200 once more? Just wondering if I mis-read first time a few weeks ago, or if the lead price drop has actually been reflected in cart costs at last and the price as dropped? I thought they had all gone over £200? Anyway. I fired some gamebore 28g velocity + today that were really clean in the barrel, just wondering to save £25 if I should move to Litespeed or TT1, or are they going to burn dirty and thump harder? Is aiming for sub-£200 ever truly value today? Just curious what peoples favourite budget cart is right now and why
  23. For someone who has no desire to shoot anything but clay, sim days seem like a great option! I don't see the cost as "cost per clay", and this thread has certainly shown that really you're paying for: clays + setup + food and drink + land usage + excitement and banter + "the experience". I am looking forward to doing one, when I find an affordable sim day in Hampshire
  24. Nice, I am battling between a silver pigeon 3, or a 525. The 725 is a nice gun! Also congrats on that score, for a beginner I think that's ace! That is currently on my mind. I would hope pragmatically they will continue as-is until the college of policing change any rules. Ultimately the law is there stating you are entitled to a shotgun unless of xyz. Lets hope that doesn't change. Or, that there's a freeze on all new licences..... The incident was horrible, my heart goes out to all those affected including the FEO.
  25. Thanks timps, insightful! I appreciate the effort of that post
