Early days yet. All of these stories run and more comes out of the woodwork. Who would have thought that Huw Edwards would fall out of his tree. Senior news anchor. Death of the queen, the crowning of king Charles. All of the top news he was the top man. Suddenly he's in the mud up to his axles. Still they've made their pot and it gives others opportunity. Nowadays if you have a position of some sort you have to think about anything that you do or say because even in years to come that action will probably be dragged out into the light and used against you. The archbishop of Canterbury is a good example. He didn't do anything specifically wrong but because he didn't do anything that he should have, that was enough.

Yeah but when you've been wheeled in to the controllers office and officially been yellow carded and advised of your future and you haven't either taken it on board and adjusted your behaviour OR your stupid and arrogantly disregarded the advice then you only have yourself to blame. He will find that because of this attitude and behaviour that programme managers and sponsors won't want to have anything to do with him. I used to tell the Mrs that philip Schofield was a wrongun a long time before his world fell down around his feet. Suddenly he was too hot to be associated with. His supposed best mate Holly Willoughby off loaded him like a hot potato. He's gone. That's the world these so-called stars live in.

The thing being is that Benny Hill jokes and innuendo humour is outdated and most women and a lot of blokes find it very humiliating and embarrassing Wallace only has himself to blame. He'd been wheeled in for a serious word in his shell like on a couple of occasions by the BBC. He'd had SEVERAL serious warnings but either he was thick or thought that he was above control. AND like other weirdos who have been outed there will be a rack of claimants showing up out of the murk just like all of the types like Saville, Rolf Harris, Stuart hall and MOhamad Al-fayed and many others, there'll be more stuff coming to light. I couldn't stand the bloke and everytime I saw him I used to say to the Mrs... That bloke is a WRONG-UN. Apart from the fact that he's been married four times and devorced three. Three of his marriage have only lasted about a year.ĺ. what does that show.? The sort of bloke who if he wre out on a shoot I would avoid like the plague. The Mrs wouldn't have it, saying that's just the way he comes across. Since he has been mentioned in dispatches I have 100% made it known to her that apart from a written notice I had told her on numerous occasions that he was a wrongun. No doubt his financial world will fall on him like a ton of bricks like that olympiad woman horse rider who was videoed whipping a horse. All her sponsors cancelled overnight.!!

I don't know what people think about wearing cartridge belts but I think that they are a pain in the rear. If you wear them under the jacket, it is difficult to access the cartridges if on the outside and it's wet the cartridges get wet. Many a good stock has been badly scored by cartridges in a belt I use a belt if I'm in a hide and hang one off of the front corner poles. Its just convenient to grab cartridges and keep an eye out over the decoy pattern but generally If I'm walking I'll just have a handful or so in my jacket pockets. No need to haul a box of cartridges when you'll only use a handful if that on an evening walk round a few hedges with the dog. When on peg or clay shooting I'll use a cartridge bag because of the volume of shooting and generally your not to far away from a vehicle to restock.

That thought had crossed my mind. Yep thats true. I imagine a lot of the carcass would only be fit for dog meat after ssg from 35 paces

So IF the OP wants/needs SG to shoot deer why all the shilly shallying about the Bush. Out with it. I don't know of any muntjac down here but we do have Roe and Fallow but I've never heard of anyone using a shotgun in place of a rifle. I do remember when we went up to Holts there seemed to be deer everywhere just grazing on the side of the road. And loads run over. Very rare to see any of ìthat down here.
-
We went to Holts.? Explain.
-
And. ; what's that got to do with anything.? I live in Kent but I've never shot SG at anything and I don't know of anyone else who shoots SG at anything. Explain your comment.
-
What are you intending to shoot with sg.? after the Lead/wildfowling ban, lead heavies for fox shooting became almost non existent. A friend had a step son who shot a 20 bore and they couldn't find stuff like BB for love nor money. I was asked to load a few up for them. They supplied me with a couple of boxes of 3" x # 7 20 bore cases and 2 boxes of Winchester 12x BB's copper clad somethings which had buffering material in them. I measured out the loads and did a swap over and then finished off with a roll turn over. they worked very well. They certainly knocked foxes over at 30...35 paces. personally for fox on a drive I favoured 36Grm of BB in left and 36Grm of #3 in RH barrel. This was more than enough in woodland rides. In fact Eley used to advocate #4 for fox.

John Healey - Minister of Defence announces cuts across the three Services
Minky replied to TIGHTCHOKE's topic in Off Topic
This thread is a classic case of FAKE NEWS. Yes there are going to be cuts BUT the other day I was reading a financial revue of military cuts & expenditure. All of this stuff is donkeys years old and has been put forward to be scrapped before. All of it is due for replacement and some of it has already been put into service. Some of this chinook helicopters are over 50 years old.. YES 50 . one of the ships. had been in for a refit during which major structural problems had been found which were so large that the ship would have to be dismantled and completely rebuilt making it uneconomical and if rebuilt you would still have an old ship. The Lockheed Hercules were old and had mainly been replaced with A400 transports. It also showed where most of the first tranche of Fighters had been delivered and money allocated for the next tranche to be order making the total up to 148 planes. There were fairly comprehensive lists of all sorts of new replacements. SO the story about cuts etc was true but it didn't show the full story. These cuts had come from the top military who had asked for replacements. The whole world seems to have taken on board this culture of spin and only partially reporting the whole story irregardless of the whole truth and other implications. -
If you had read through the article you might have noticed that the banana comes with instructions on how to replace the banana when it goes rotten. if fact the banana has been eaten several times. The whole thing is just ideas and promotion. which it has done because we have read about it. David Icke stated that money doesn't exist. it just goes round and round. If the bloke put any item up for sale and sold it to himself no money would change hands and any buyers premium waved by the auctioneers due to the public publicity it draws in the the auction. .... It's only a movie.. it's only a show, a celluloid picture wherever you go. ( the weavers answer) (The weavers answer) ( Family1970)

Thanks for the reply. What I was told when I first started work as an apprentice mechanical engineer was.. to do things, you have to have things to do things with !!. In regards to the above reply regarding hammers etc I have got a 20 bore that had to have a hammer replaced because it wouldn't cock. And on the gun that I want to replace it broke a mainspring on the righthand during a vermin shoot. I went to shoot a squirrels grey and nothing happened. I never loose off the action on an empty chamber... dry fire, so until something breaks or disappears you never really know what you are potentially going to need. Still the way things are going we won't have guns for. Many More years.
-
Thanks very much for all the replies. Right, I have a shotgun ( one of many) that I shoot very well with but it has ratty metalwork but good wood. What I would like to do is completely dismantle this gun, and dispose of the barrels and the action thus getting the serial number off of my shotgun certificate. keeping all useful mechanical parts such as screws, springs, stock etc as spares which may at some time be useful for a replacement gun. So a like for like replacement. What's the general consensus on that. Ps. The gun that I have has very little financial value and it wouldn't matter if a grinder was put on it and cut up to render it no longer usable. I just shoot very well with it.

What actually constitutes a firearm. ?..... A trigger guard. ? A butt plate.? The firing pins. ? The stock.? At what point does a random collection of bits become a shotgun / rifle.
-
"I had half of M + S Cottage Pie left in the fridge". M+S..? A bit extravagant isn't it.? Shouldn't that be Tesco or Asda or Lidle or similar. A plate full of nice fuel. I'm quite partial to random left overs. I quite like a slow stew / casserole. Everything in the pot. Beef chopped small. Mushrooms, peas, sweetcorn, tomatoes, onion, potato, couple of stock cubes, bit of herbs and spices, sounds a lot but really nice. The Mrs doesn't go for it so I get 2x 1ltr Pyrex jugs and a 1ltr jug so it lasts me 2 days along with granary. It's a bit moist down in the tropical south but still T shirt weather.

I have tried to contact Mr Bosher by pm but he hasn't been on site since 31st October. My msg to him hasn't been read. Anyone know where he is and how he is. Or/any other contact details. Perhaps he has flown south for the winter.

It is very obvious from the comments in this thread supporting the general police attitude and stance from perhaps serving officers or those that have served. I am a person who has NEVER offended in any form although I did have a parking ticket once ( failed to read and understand the parking notice) I don't have any problem with police or laws in general. What I do have a problem is institutionalised wrong doing and self promotion. IF you watched that programme it is pretty obvious that the officers on the ground who actually were there were mis directed by their seniors WHO lied and covered it up. Members of the public who were there stated that the police were blatantly getting their stories ALIGNED and getting all the ducks in a row. The police stated the Brazilian vaulted over the turnstiles and ran.. TOTAL LIE. ON THE STATION CCTV COVERAGE HE IS SHOWN GOING THROUGH THE TURNSTILE.... USING HIS OYSTER CARD. THIS DIDN’T SEEM TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. The upper level of authority knew this bloke wasn't a terrorist but no one told the officers at the front. They were told "CODE RED " which they had been told was that they were in command of the situation. Separately look back at the Hillsborough debacle. The police lied through their teeth and destroyed evidence for many years to distort the truth. AND EVEN WHEN THE POLICE do get caught out and pinned down they dont get chucked behind bars. No they get sent home on gardening leave on full salary and or a full pension. For those who keep posting otherwise and deny this cannot be surprised by the fact that confidence and trust in the police is so low. How is it that they are going to take a couple of years to sack dodgy officers with serious serious crime issues. How can you defend stuff like this.? It's all available to see if you search the Web under how many officers are sacked a year. Find the college of policing. It's not from the looney left or the anarchist handbook or something. Edit.. during interviews with the officers they said that they had been instructed to change ammunition from standard issue rounds to hollow point. To make sure of an instant kill. The Brazilian bloke was shot 8 times in the head. And the officer was covered in.... DEBRIS.!!

Advise your friend to watch that program. There is no way that I would ever be a firearms officer. you're there to do a job which probably would lead to a situation where you had to kill someone. BUT the SYSTEM will not support you in any way. no amount of wage money would ever compensate for what happened to those officers. It undoubtedly has shortened their lives with the stress especially when the upper officers LIKE that Ian Blair lie about how things were. Good luck ole mate you're on your own.
-
I have just watched the rest of the program about the shooting of Jean Charles Mendez and it has interviews with members of the public and the actual officers who shot him. It is a factual program of actual facts. What I take from this program is that there was a complete disjoint between the firearms officers and the higher up officers and the information that was passed between them. Basically the officers were told code red which meant that they were in control of the situation and to shoot to stop the person getting on the train. After they had shot him the upper officers, (Ian Blair & Cressida **** ) Denied they had issued this order and that they knew who he was. The officers were hung out to dry and Were subject to investigation for 10 years. I strongly advise anyone to watch the program on 4 catchup. it is a complete disgrace. I don't have a side in this just the truth.

The man was in a confined area (stairwell) which made it a very dangerous approach for the armed officer... So he wasn't a threat to 3rd parties. there was no need to do anything.. Unless the armed man started to advance discharging rounds at the armed officer. Then shoot. the majority of all of these cases the person is THOUGHT to be armed and is a general nutter. coincidentally the Mrs is currently watching a recorded program about the shooting of the Brazilian electrician on the tube. Edit... after watching more of this program they are talking to the officers involved. it Turns out that SOME people knew the identity of the guy shot. they didn't tell the firearms crew. AND one of the officers was at HQ when the commissioner was on his way to the press conference. He knew but at the press conference he stated that he didn't and that was a total lie. he wasn't mistaken, It was a deliberate lie. all covered with muddle and basically swept under the carpet. Cressida **** wasn't wheeled in and chopped immediately until there was a whole string of cock up's. And it's wondered why the police are held In such low esteem . At the present time there are so many officers that are being sacked for a big raft of issues. They cant sack them fast enough. it runs into HUNDREDS.. YES HUNDREDS. They've got convictions for everything under the sun. Rape, theft, Fraud everything.

I don't care who I upset but there have been far too many shootings of innocent people by firearms officers. and it is always covered up as a split second judgement decision. I know that it is a difficult decision but the whole situation is all hyped up with officers shouting and acting like a bunch of cowboys. There was the electrician on the underground. The drunk bloke who was a carpenter who had a chair leg wrapped in a sheet which was tied to his crossbar. The bloke in Hastings who was naked in bed and was shot because he was deemed to have had a large weapon and was shot. It not good enough. All sort of swept under the carpet. far too many. I'm not saying that a lot of these people weren't Snowy White but a lot didn't need to be shot dead. I know that police officers don't go to work to kill people but it happens. Generally the police have no credibility with the general public and stuff like this doesn't help. Whole sections of the public view the police as an enemy.

Yes it is scummers chucking stuff out of the car BUT the councils are to blame by being Hitlers at the disposal sites and charging the earth to remove anything. A few local women go out litter picking along the main road and it is blatantly obvious that it is people of the village dumping drinks cans and plastic bottles. Going out one way it is all on the left and going the other way it is all on the left. indicating that it is the passenger side that is dumping it. another odd practice is that SOMEONE has for many years been going through a local lane and its as if the passenger is reading a newspaper and dumping pages out as they go along. several miles of it.

When people talk about how the weather was different years ago or that some only remember what they want to. I remember that when I was a kid that in the Autumn going to school that very often it was very, very foggy and the grass was loaded with water beads on the mass of spiders webs. By about 10 is the sun would come out and burn the fog off. These mornings were called hop picking weather. Summers were summers and winters were winters. In the village there was a steep field that was known as the sledging field. It seemed as if the whole village turned out for snowball fights and sledging . Father even had a six person sledge MADE by the village carpenter and the steel runners made by the village blacksmith. Nowadays we don't get much if any snow at all. if we do get some snow it is gone by lunchtime and fathers sledge would never get used. Opposed to this we don't generally get the flaming June and the heat of August. It's as if the weather had equaled itself out.
