I can't why anybody would want to buy a mongrel with a daft name either, there are well bred springers being offered at less money than a lot of folk are willing to pay for a sprocker.
-
Most part trained dogs are sold because they have a fault, also be aware there's a fair few sharks about, it's very much a buyer beware market.

Dog pups are cheapest, particularly if you play a waiting game

Sorry it's a bit of banter that occurs on here. If you want your first ever gun dog I personally would never recommend anything other than a Labrador from a decent lines. The parents of the pup would need to have at least hip & eye tests, they'd preferably be also elbow scored & be tested clear for CNM & PRA.

Can I suggest a Portuguese Pointer?

There's unfortunately only one cure & it's terminal. Too much too soon is usually the cause. Pet him off & start again. If you keep him & start off another, chances are the second one would start doing it as well, they're good at copying.

There's a dog on here http://gundogsdirect.co.uk/gundogs-for-sale/Labrador-Dog/ad_811.html says it's unregistered & so it's probably not health tested but if you just want a worker it might be worth a punt for the money they want.

All what Scotslad said but just don't bore the pants off it, short, sharp sessions with bits of fun mixed in.

When there's top quality springers available for under £300, why would you want a x-bred mutt? http://www.gundogtrainingforum.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=17611

Thank you for the comments. This is big brother from the last litter

As the dog is coming in turn & walk away letting it follow you at heel. Dropping can be can caused by an over anxiety to get the dummy off the dog so perhaps relax a bit & let the dog 'enjoy' what it's brought you. A nice up front delivery can be easy to sort again later but as WGD has posted the dropping can turn into a difficult to solve problem. I'd also be slowing down a bit on the direction stuff, sometimes a dog that appears to pick it all up quickly hasn't really sussed it at all & then struggles with it all when put under pressure later on. I'm currently training one that has struggled with direction, she's very soft, folds up easily & lacks confidence. It's taken 4 months to get her to do it in a very basic fashion.

Two Cocker dog pups for sale sired by FTW Kiltobeck Warlord ex Frostfields Sweetie, she is a good little picking up bitch that's litter sister to two winning dogs she's (She's bred Open winner ex a FTCH bitch) This is a repeat mating, I have a dog from the previous litter & he's a bidable, level headed dog that is making up into a cracking worker. Pups are KC registered & legally docked. Price £500

grand looking pups, I hung back until nearly 4 weeks before I fed my last litter, one week less of **** to clean up!
-
A friend has just picked up something similar that was cnm & pra clear by parentage for under £400 These pups will be either clear or carrier as the bitch is not tested. Nothing at all wrong with the pedigree but it is a buyers market at the moment, I'd expect them to be up at £550 / £500

This is not totally true, there will be loads of labs about that aren't tested but would have poor hips if scored. These dogs will live a very active working life & the owner will be none the wiser. I recently sold a bitch that was nearly 5 years old, her hips were abysmal yet she was fit & active dog that could easily do several days consecutive work, she was the most athletic dog I've ever had & could clear a five bar gate without touching it.

Had you considered that you may have to do some beating to get a foot in the door? An awful lot of picking up revolves around 'dead mans shoes'

Sorry, delete pictures from photobucket.

Been away today, will try to get pictures up tomorrow.

You also need to watch what your dog eats. I bought an 11 month old bitch in that kept puking regularly, when we finally opened her up the problem was a horn of barley. It had been working it's way down through her system blocking it every now & again.

If the dog handles, left, right & back, I'd suspect at some point it's been retrieving, I'm not really sure how / why this would have been trained without a retrieve in place. Does it run out to a thrown retrieve & then blink it? Go right back to basics, get down on the floor & play with it. Try & find something it'll take off you, play tug with you, anything, dirty socks, your lasses knickers, absolutely anything, trial & error. I'd also stop it doing any hunting or doing any of the left, rights & backs whilst you get it to at least carry something. Give the dog it's only pleasure by playing with you. Start with it indoors or the garden, limited distractions.

I don't know why the moderators don't simply delete threads like this, regardless of how it's bred, whether it's health tested etc etc it's still a sales pitch ie use my dog for the price of a pup.

Mine aren't in the kennel full time either, whilst they don't get near the living room sofa they do have access to the house & do sleep inside. Normally when wet they go into the kennels where they have teabag material bedding to dry off in, 1/2 an hour in that & they're clean.

I know This dirty *** jumped in a bog while out this morning just as we got back to the car, quick dip in the river on the way home is all she got.

http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/252244-bargain-black-labrador-puppies/ These are elsewhere on the site & are nothing to do with me but if anybody is looking for something nicely bred these pups are a bargain.
