  1. Hello all, I'm looking to get my foot in the permissions door in the South Lincs / North Norfolk area. I am aware in similar posts it has been considered bad practice to use the first post on this forum as a request for permissions, nevertheless thats what this is. I'm 24 and serve full time in the Royal Air Force in Norfolk, I hold my section 2 cert and BASC membership. I have spent an arm and a leg shooting clays over the years and would like to spend more time in the fields than at shooting grounds. Anyone requiring more detailed info please let me know. Cheers, SS
  2. Hi All, I'm pretty new to shotgun shooting and I have a few questions about when to pull the trigger and when to wait. I have a Winchester SX3 and am using 30mm Size 6 with 30g loads and a 1/2 choke. I am using either a pop-up hide, or poles and cammo depending on the situation. First outing: 25 shots, 2 crows. DOH! Questions: At what range would you all hold-fire with the above set-up? Would you use another Choke size, and if so, which? (I have the usual: Full, 1/4, 1/3, 3/4) For the ranges; 10m, 20m, 30m, 40m and 50m, given an average speed of 30mph, what would the lead be? Aside from the pattern, what would be the closest decoy distance, and the furtherest? Is an electronic Crow caller illigal to use in the UK? If so, why are they for sale? Thanks in advance all, Jamie
  3. I am looking to buy a second gun. Only to be used by my guests so nothing special. I am willing to pay up to 50 quid . I am located in Cambridgeshire and I can colect from the area! Cheers!
  4. Just interested in which shotgun is your favourite and why? Please feel free to share your views and any memorable experiences you had with it
  5. Hey everyone, i was thinking about buying my first shotgun sometime soon, i have been looking at over and under 12g shotguns for under £1000 on my local gun shops website. So far i have found four different ones that look ok, however i am not sure whether they are reputable brands, a good deal/ or rip off. by the way the beretta silver pigeon s looked good but it has a fixed choke, is this a bad thing? ideally wanted multi choke but i can live with it. Also, does anyone else think the lanber looks ugly because the colour?? here are the four guns that caught my eye: Browning 325 Gr.1 ://www.kelbrookshootingschool.co.uk/… Lanber field http://www.kelbrookshootingschool.co.uk/admin/k_gun_details.php?id=3520 Miroku MK-60 Gamescene http://www.kelbrookshootingschool.co.uk/admin/k_gun_details.php?id=2874 Beretta Silver Pigeon S ://www.kelbrookshootingschool.co.uk/admin/k_gun_details.php?id=3993
  6. How's it going i'm looking to buy my first shotgun for clay pigeon shooting money is tight for buying and the gun's seem to be cheaper and in really good condition for the price in the UK but how would i go about buying and importing? Thanks Joey
  7. Hello, I am a keen shooter and Im looking for some airgun pest control or shotgun in and around the hertfordshire/Essex area like Broxbourne, Stevenage, Epping and surrounding areas but also happy to travel. Happy to offer my help as a beater too. Experience wise, I used to go Pigeon shooting every other sunday many years ago, and now only getting back into it, was also a member over at East Barnet Shooting Club a couple of years back but that wasn't for me. Plus many trips last year at Rectory Farm clay pigeon Shooting Ground. I know asking on the internet isn't the most polite way, but given this day and age thought that this may help. So if anybody has any land I can shoot over or if you want some pest control undertaking, even in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks for reading and your time Regards
  8. Hi, I'm having trouble finding out anything about a shotgun a friend owns in South Africa. It is a side by side 12 bore double trigger hammer gun, fairly old and battered (he uses it to shoot Warthogs in the bush) with the usual proof marks on barrel and action but no makers name anywhere, although it does look like there is a "Made In Belgium" on the underneath of the barrels! He asked me to find out what I could about it on my return home to the UK, and I told him not to use it anymore as it is very loose because the locking cross bolt is missing, his answer was "I've been shooting it like that for years!"........Africaans?? The Flickr link has 9 other photos of medium resolution (I have higher resolution if needed) and any help would be most appreciated. Many thanks in advance, Dave http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream
  9. Hi all Thanks for taking the time to read this Ideally were looking for somewhere to go Vermin pigeon and rabbit mainly, We can manage deer if needed as two of us are DSCL1 Quilified, we have shotguns and Firearms from Fac .22 air, .17Hmr, 22LR, .243 and 7x57mm and DSC level 1 (Deer Stalking) we are very keen shooters and we will take on anything. I myself have been shooting for over 20 years and was a gamekeeper when I left school, we are keen to get in the fields again no matter what the weather. I’m sitting here now pulling my hair out because when I lived in Norfolk I had 3,000 acres to shoot on, bit of a long way to go for a day out... Please could someone help before I go bald!! I am from an agricultural back ground so if any farmers/land owners need a hand on the farm that won’t be a problem so please give me a shout. Were looking for some where roughly within an hour’s radius of Nottingham/Derby Finally we have all full BASC insurance and copies of all our details will be given to the land owner if needed Paul
