Has anyone used any of the range of scopes this firm is advertising? In particular, the 'GunTuff' 8-32x50 side focus. I'm looking for a non expensive scope for my Ruger 10/22.

Cheers

Steve.

I bought this one http://www.jsramsbottom.com/products/rifle...-up-covers.html

It's remarkable value for money and delivery is always quick

Thanks MM & sitsinhedges. Did you use the scope/s on air rifles or rimfire?

sorry steve, thought you meant the firm, not the scope. bought a scope from them and stuck it on the rimmy, seems ok.

id be interested to know if anyone has tried this

http://www.jsramsbottom.com/products/rifle...riflescope.html

cheers.

I was told by my local RFD that they are tat, but then again, he doesnt sell them

I did have one of the slightly older JSR 6-24X50 (IR) scopes on my 22-250 and when I sold that gun it went on my Winchester 290. The scope performed well enough and there was never any sign of the scope slipping out of zero unless I had accidentally given the gun a bad knock. It never let me down and did the job it was designed for quite well, let's put it that way. I am in fact now thinking of buying a new scope from JS Ramsbottoms next week (When I have decided which scope I want) to go on my 17HMR to replace the 4-12X40 Nikko Stirling Mountmaster that is currently on it, (Which I bought from them, it arrived the following day after ordering, what great service!) I haven't heard of any "negative" reports about their scopes and have no problems using them myself!

I've got a slightly older one, about 6 years old 3-9 X 50 on my CZ rimmy and it does the job, doesn't lose zero and has good light transmission for both early evening and lamping.

I've also got one on my Air Arms 410 and it is great at the shorter distance for an air rifle.

i have the 6-24-50 model and i bought it about 2 years ago and it is on my cz.22 and it has never lost zero even after dropping it 3 or 4 times on the scope, i find it much better at dawn, dusk and lamping than my mtc viper 6-24-56 which is on my .223, i will be buying another one when i get a 17hmr.

I have no experience of any of their scopes.

But:

I can't see any merit for using a 32 mag scope on a semi auto rimfire to be honest Steve. The recycling action would almost certainly take the scope off target enough for you to lose sight of the bullet strike due to the reduced field of vision. Not to mention the probability of a murky image at much more than 24 mag from an economy scope if using it in the field.

I should have mentioned that I also want to use the scope on my .243, in conjunction with my Cobra Merlin NV. I have to use a PA scope to get the best out of the Cobra. Maximum power I would use would only be about x15.

Don't know the Gun Tuff you mention but I have got several JSR scopes, so has my lad, and others I know, used some on the centrefires as well.

Bottom line is they are an innexpensive scope and not brilliantly made, but optically they punch well above their weight in my experience. All mine have the Allen Key turret adjustment which drives me mad, but not enough to stop me using them :good::good:
