Beardo
Got the key for the fields of one of the farms i shoot last night, as the ground is now hard enough to drive - had a cracking night with Stealth Stalker (if a little late, didn't get home til 1.30am). We managed 19 rabbits and 1 Fox. It's a good combo we have - i drive and shoot long distance with the .17hmr, and SS is up on the roof with his .22lr - we just pass the Lightforce 170 round the outside. Saw a lovely Tawny Owl as well.
henry d
Sounds like you will be having plenty of shooting and BBQ`s in the future
Beardo
SS's ferrets got a lot of foetuses, the Butcher got the rabbits. forgot to mention, only bad thing of the night.. my bloody Lightforce wiring went, so we had to keep jiggling the damn thing all night - i guess it was a matter of time, as i'd never replaced mine from the original design fault stuff. libs
How are you going to cook the owl? I would suggest that you cook it the same way you would a swan.
al4x
SS's got a love of foetuses, did he leave any in the back of your truck? might be worth a check I found a couple a few days later after he'd been in it, when the dog wouldn't leave the truck and then worked out it could get in the back with the tailgate up Edited April 21, 2010 by al4x
Beardo
i'm doing Babushka Owl - it's a Little Owl stuffed inside a Barn Owl, stuffed inside a Tawny Owl

garyb
You don't need a thread It's a piece of cake... screwdriver, soldering iron, solder! We did SS's in about 1/2 hr
Beardo
it may never have existed, i'm just sure i remember a nice thread about it with photos etc.
gixer1
as i'd never replaced mine from the original design fault stuff. I didn't know this, and mine suffers the same thing, what is the fault and how do you fix the blighter?
Beardo
how the hell do you wire the inside bit - once the red cover is removed the wires don't pull out very far?
al4x
they go below that point so you have to shorten the wire, from memory i unscrewed the lense etc and it became apparent from there. the two places they seem to go are right where they flex going into the lamp and also at the lighter socket end Edited April 21, 2010 by al4x
Beardo
lighter socket has gone - but will replace the whole thing
al4x
shortening the cable works well, though i do always seem to carry a spare just in case. I took the socket off and just hard wired it into the trucks electrics job done and despite "loosing" the fuse haven't blown a bulb yet

Beardo
i did manage to change nappies, bath and feed my daughter, do a couple of powerpoint edits for a client, mend the lamp and pour myself a whisky mac before settling in front of PW
albob
the 170 has a grommit at the back of the lamp where the wire goes into the lamp head and if you gently pull this out,you can re-wire through the grommet and to the better wire behing the grommet. that way you have good wiring from the lamp head to the switch. i replaced mine with 3 core mains wire that is the rubber flexible type, from the lamphead to the dimmer and straight through to the battery connector, which is not a cigar lighter fitment.mine is the lockable type,so no coming loose when out shooting. al
