Norrie Posted August 22, 2010 Report Share Posted August 22, 2010 Hiya, I've got a lovely CZ Silhouette .22LR gun, love it to bits.. ...it's fitted with a Walther 6 x 42 scope... I'm not in love with the thick crosshairs... and so today while at a mates, I bought a little Tasco Golden Antler 3x9x40scope off him , very cheaply I may add... , it has much thinner crosshairs, and has a sort of "wide angle" effect... Now, in your opinion, would I be better off fitting the Tasco to the gun???...I must admit the optics are much clearer as well, I'm very impressed with the scope if truth be told.. I had a Hawke 3x9x50 scope, new... but sold it to a mate...it was on an airgun at the time...starting to regret it now...it was buttons, it was bought off here... I already have the Tasco, and really like it, but dont want to fit it if its not up to the job....I've not got lots of experience with scopes... I'm only a few months back into shooting, last time I had a scope, it was a 1.5x15, and that was the dogs in those days...:( What I need to know, is , will it be ok on my Rimmy...?? Hiya, Thanks for replying...It is a proper Tasco....I'm not worried about it, just a wee bit hestitant about taking a scope off that works ok, even tho I dont like it, I'm just not sure about a variable mag scope on the gun... The guy I bought the CZ off is much more knowledgable about these things than me, he fitted the fixed mag Walther to it and I dont want to mess up the combo... I have 3-9x50 nite-eye on my CZ .22LR and it has been faultless so far and at 50 quid brand new it is hard to beat. Although my scope is variable Mag I only ever really keep it at 9. bruno22rf Posted August 22, 2010 Report Share Posted August 22, 2010 Tasco will be more than up to the job-while you,re putting it onb why not align it correctly to tg the bore?-count the number of clicks from all the up adjustment to the other end and then half it- wind the scope adjuster the half from either extreme and mount the scope lightly-fire a couple of rounds at a target near your normal range and pack the scope mounts until you get the elecation as near as you can-simple. The guy has 2 scopes and 1 gun but still people post "Ooo buy one of these etc".... then he'd have 3 scopes and 1 gun. Back on topic, I was in a similar boat, bought a Tasco Golden Antler but prefer mill-dots on my LR and have a nice Endurance 30IR on my HMR so it's never been mounted but having had it out of the box I have to say it's very impressive. I've never tried a Walther but I do think that half the job of pulling off a good shot is confidence, if you don't like your scope you're unlikely to shoot as well as you could. As for the Walther...It works well, but as I said I dont like the thick crosshairs, nothing against the scop, just my own personal preferance......where as the Tasco has much finer crosshairs, which I prefer much more...and I prefer the variable mag also. I asked the question as I didnt know if the scope was suitable for a Rimmy, now I know it is... So...I'm going to fit the Tasco this weekend, and see what happens then... And...Re Confidence in yer gear...thats so true.....I think thats maybe partly why I dont like the Walther... Maybe someone else would love it, but not me... Again guys, thanks loads... Sorry if this muddys the waters a bit for you but I'd zero at the mag you shoot at, not all scopes can be trusted to keep the same POI when you change mag.
