Shadowchaser
I recently bought a leather shotgun certificate holder, only to discover that it requires folding my SGC 3 times to fit it in. This will lead to my SGC becoming tatty. The fewer creases the better in my opinion. So how do others keep their papers safe, clean and tidy? Redgum
I have a leather wallet supplied by BASC, I have to fold the fac and sg to get em in. I do it in such a way that serials nos don't fall in the crease, thats tha main thing plod will want to see apart from yr photo.
CharlieT
Mine sits in my desk draw which seems to keep it clean and tidy. If it does get creased I give it to my butler to iron when he does the newspapers in the mornings.
apache
I folded mine in three carefully and keep them both in the same leather wallet. Keeps it as neat as it needs to be. All readable after 15 months!
Raja Clavata
MY SGC and FAC are three-folded back to back in the wallet that the Met Police originally supplied with the SGC. I have laminated colour copies of the important parts of the SGC & FAC which I carry with me in the field. Not strictly legit but enough I would hope to get the majority of plod to act reasonably if confronted whilst out shooting. All that said my FAC seems to spend more time with my FEO than it does me lately getting conditions removed / added and variations - as I get a new one each time it's never likely to get that tatty
Dekers
I have 2 x FAC and a SGC, they are all copied and generally copies carried with the guns. The originals are in full size plastic wallets, so not folded at all, and they all live in a folder, when ammo etc is required the folder comes to the RFD!! CZ550Kevlar
I never keep my FAC long enough to worry about folding and keeping it nice, it gets folded 3 times along with my SGC and they go into a Bisley licence wallet, i find that i change my rifles sometimes once a year so never get the chance to worry about condition, SGC i buy carts from the same guy and he knows me so i don`t need my licence out for that. silpig5
SGC i buy carts from the same guy and he knows me so i don`t need my licence out for that. a shop near norwich was spot checked by plain clothes police , asking customers who left shop with cartridges to show there licence . several didnt have it and where taken back to shop . dont know full out come but it cant be good . they do check ! but mine is kept in a4 plastic sleeve sgc + fac . colour photo copy of both is with permision letters that go where the guns go . kyska
Both of mine are absolute wrecks, but everytime I fill up ammo slots I get a new FAC. Not sure what'll happen with the sgc though, do you have to pay for replacements?

the running man
All the people that have firearms but don't shoot,or do once a year to keep um,will be able to tell you how nice and clean theirs are! The more you shoot the more they will get worn, its just a fact,if ure that worried its so tatty send it back in for a replacement.
apache
Not sure what'll happen with the sgc though, do you have to pay for replacements? Replacements are free so long as you send the old cert back. You have to pay a fee if it is lost or stolen. I thought there was no legal requirement to show SGC when buying carts, was just thought of as good practice?

I have too many guns to go on one...... Actually that is true, but the real reason why is, I have my personal FAC and as Sectretary of my Rifle Club at Bisley I am also FAC holder for the club, so 2 FACs Edited August 27, 2010 by Dekers
Shadowchaser
Some great replies. I think I'll keep mine unfolded in a folder and keep it like that when I buy ammunition.
