advice on which .22 semi

They all have their moments and some more than others, the 10/22 probably wins simply because it is so appalling you can buy one and replace just about EVERY part of it with aftermarket improvements.

Not quite sure what the gun you have afterwards would be called!

They have their uses, commonly in the grin factor of letting loose a banana mag of 25 rounds in an instant, if it can last that long without jamming.

But even I keep returning to them and thinking I really should get one...but I still haven't found a sensible reason why!

:hmm::rolleyes::hmm::hmm::bye2:

Each to their own, out of the box its more accurate and more reliable than a 10/22 .... but you cant chav it up like you can a 10/22.

For me, it jams every other shot. The trigger is this plastic thing that creeps and actually requires a *tug* to get it to fire.

I've stripped it and using a piece of sandpaper, managed to get it the trigger slightly (and the trigger is still as horrible as walking in on your grandmother whilst she's getting changed)

At least with a 10/22 you can put a decent trigger on it.

Thats odd, a guy I know has one and it never jams, even with subs .... I shot it and the trigger felt fine to me but apparently they do smooth out with use or can be easly polished up.

Considering the large price difference but close similarity between the 2 tho I'd say the 795 is far better value.

Bit like the Hatsans really... I had a bad one of those too. :hmm:

Chopped the S/A to 12.5" and it's great fun for lamping, but still jams... I only bring it out to give to someone as a 'Lamping Experience gun' so I can use my CZ all to myself :rolleyes:

To the OP: Is this your first .22LR? If so, I, in my opinion, made a huge error buying a S/A as my first 22. Get a bolt action - I'm saying this from experience!

My ruger shoots perfect and the only modified part is extended mag release.

Synthetic stock so its light, No ammo fussiness to date, groups well, what more can you ask?

I was told to clean the action with petrol every now and then, I used it one weekend and didnt do this after, the next weekend it jammed a couple of times so i do this regularly now! - I dont think thats a ruger problem tho!
