Bazooka Joe
Seen this a good few years ago on an Aussie WebSite, & decided today to have ago. On & Off like the Wam/Widgeon Call. Two 12g Case Heads, Fitted Together, & the Two Faces Bevelled in. Going to try some 10g, & maybe 8g if I can get them, BJ.

Spaniel
I made some myself and they do work, but in the end i did buy one
Bazooka Joe
Did it work ok? might give that a go.... Yep, they work OK, gunna experiment with the holes to get a higher pitch. I'm after some 10g, & 8g cases if there's any collecting dust anywhere BJ
HW682
I have never made a home-made call, so might be off the mark here - but as a general rule a smaller hole or cavity will give a higher pitched sound. Rather than 10g or 8g maybe you want to try 16g or 20g ?

gedney
Any tips on blowing L IKE MOST WIDGEON CALLS YOU SUCK RATHER THAN BLOW ,AND MAKE SURE THERES NO FLUFF IN THERE !
Frenchieboy
Any tips on blowing I'm sure that Julian Clarey could answer that one for you mate! On a serious note - I use both a Widgeon call and a Wam Call, they both have their times and uses so there is no reason why these should not work. I have found that the best way to work with either is to use both a blowing and a sucking action to vary that Pitch and overall effect of the caller. Out of all the foxes that I have shot while using the Wam or the Widgeon Caller none of them were in a position to express a preference! steve_b_wales
I bought one from Australia, and to be honest, I found it to be useless. It sounded like the whistle from an old kettle. In fact, you could use one of them to get the same effect.
Bazooka Joe
Any tips on blowing Yep, as stated Suck don't blow, blowing gives a different tone in my book. I bought one from Australia, and to be honest, I found it to be useless. It sounded like the whistle from an old kettle. Gota say these don't sound like a kettle whistle, I have never made a home-made call, so might be off the mark here - but as a general rule a smaller hole or cavity will give a higher pitched sound. Rather than 10g or 8g maybe you want to try 16g or 20g Yep I know what you mean, I've tried with normal 12g, but I've found that it's the distance between the two cases which is crucial, normal cases are to close together hence the longer brass. paul99
How on earth do you manage to get one brass inside of the other tidy? I've tried 3 times now and despite getting the brass off without a mark I can't for the life of me get one brass inside the other without making a real mess - is there a trick to it? The only thing I can think of now is using a 3/4" pipe expander on one of them to open it out a little. henry d
I bought one from Australia, and to be honest, I found it to be useless. It sounded like the whistle from an old kettle. paul99
Following a very helpful PM from Bazooka Joe I knocked up a few of these this afternoon - I gave up doing it the proper way and broke out the 22mm pipe expander to help getting once case inside the other but I'm, sure most will have more patience than I do... It seems you can vary the sound a little just by altering how deep you dish the surfaces so it's going to need a bit of trial and error to get it right but I see no reason why they won't work, Thanks Joe

sitty tree
hello mate. i have made them in the past and i always use winchester cases the short brass head and the long brass head they go together nice and snug a good seal. if you tap the heads so they indent little bit at a time till you get the right sound. take it from me they are fatal .
