snipe
My understanding is that the Beretta Xtrema is highly regarded in the semi-auto world, not sure if that is both versions? Anyway, putting price aside, what would be good alternative? Is there something as reliable and still churns out 3.5" cartridges? Thanks, Snipe. snipe
Beretta A400 I see that you sold your xtrema mickmep, was that in favour of the a400? Thanks, Snipe
mickmep
for me the A400 is more suitable, i shoot mainly clays and haven't had time to go wildfowling yet..........next year hopefully. the 400 does everything the extrema does cartridge wise, and is a smaller gun, much slimmer forend and 'feels' a lot lighter. there was no reason for me to keep the extrema after i bought the 400. cartridge wise i've only used mine on clays and from new cycled 24 gram cartridges. not tried 21's in it. if they were the same price i personally would buy the 400, although i've not really used either for what its really intended for. i'm gonna advise you what everyone else will, go and try a few different ones and buy the one that feels most comfortable to you. fit on a semi can be achieved by stock shimming so in my opinion not as crucial as an o/u. there is a big difference between the sizes and feel of the semi auto's your looking at, and dont discount the sx3, there a fabulous gun for the money, although you get what you pay for with a beretta, in my opinion of semi auto's anyway. the berettas are not as plasticy inside as the winchesters. got to add, try a benelli. they do 3 1/2" chambered guns and the inertia guns are so much cleaner. a.b.gamebags
I brought a baikal mp153 about 6 mouths ago i broght it for some wildfowling and pigeon shooting and imust say it was the best £643 i have ever spend. I rate these guns better than anyother 3 1/2 inch gun including bretteas. My grandad brought an extream the same time as me and has fired the same amount of shots as meabout 300-400 and i must say that his breattahas jamed may of time but my baikal not once. There great mine even cycles the 28 gram loads. I now wont use Any other gun. But if you do buy on otthese dont get the wood as they weigh about 8 pound but the black or camo that i have weighs about 7 pound. So buy one of these thats the best gun you willever buy ! jigga
i also got a the baikal mp-153, this was my first semi and cant fault it, was bought as a fowling gun but only got to use it once before the ban came in, but have gave it a few cracks at the rabbits and really enjoy shooting it, smallest shell has been 30 grm no.6 and heaviest 42 grm no.3 with no cycling problems, got mine from malmo guns, £530 ish, brand new, more than half price of berreta equivelent. Albertan_J
I have a SX3 and it has cycled everything that I have put through it without a single jam. I really do love this gun and its really easy to break down and clean. For the price you can't go wrong.
