PW Monday Madness - Bringing it back

As some of the more seasoned members will remember i used to arrange an annual trip to West Kent Shooting School to take part in one of their 'Monday Madness' days.

The day basically involves paying a very reasonable fee (i will check how much it is now before committing to a price), but it included a cooked breakfast and basically all you can shoot for a day. I think we have shot up to about 200 birds in a day previously, you go around with a coach, and while it isn't a coaching session they do offer tips.

Previously i think you could have up to 3 teams of 6 shooters. If we booked 3 teams we would have the entire site to ourselves.

Traditionally we did this in October, however as i cant be bothered to wait until then, how about march/april once the weather improves a little.

Who is interested? An outing for the lately lesser-spotted Essex mafia?

EDIT - wrong section, could some kind person put it in the meetup section

Yep I'm in.

Game season will be over and I will be at a loose end for shotty shooting.

We should give some thought to some competitions. Getting everyone round a 100 bird set up is likely to soak up the best part of the day. I would suggest talking to the ground owner and settling on them picking 6 of the toughest stands and agreeing in advance how the stand will be shot e.g. on report or sim pair, and making it a 70 bird max competition.

Once the stand numbers are known and how the targets are to be thrown I will print the cards - this ought to stop the usual of everyone the competition over about 22 different stands and half pulling sim pairs and the other half pulling singles.

Then there should be a 50 bird comp for SBS, pump actions and anything else that amuses...

But yes its always good fun to have a competition, Bisley was always a good laugh for that.

Sounds good to me.

I can take 4 people with me, plus equipment in the back, if we want to meet up, I live in Stevenage can meet M25 services maybe, or at my home, cup of tea on arrival.

Save the carbon foot print!!

Just let me know

bakerboy Terry

You really are a gent a Terry!! I'll gladly take one of those seats thanks and spread the fuel cost. Never know, might even be able to get a Herts squad together...

Reminds me, I really ought to get out on the pigeon with you again and bring some of that cider up.
