Hello everyone,

I currently own a Miroku MK 38 Sporter with teague chokes and I have developed a strange yearning for a semi-auto!

I dont know why, ive never fired one but I just like the look of them.

I know my Miroku is a decent gun and I mainly shoot clays with a little bit of rough shooting and i dont want to sell my beloved Miroku and regret it.

Have any of you made the transition from O/U to semi and if so are you happy with your decision?

Can anyone recommend a semi to try out?

Im not in the position to afford two guns so I need one that can do everything so what do you reckon?

Any advice is gratefully received.

Dave

The more bits in it, the more bits to go wrong! Most of the time the grass is not greener on the other side of the hill......

I started with an O/U and switched to a semi but I don't clay shoot. I have three O/U's in the cabinet, they have never been shot since the semi arrived.

As it stands I don't think I'd ever go back to an O/U, my upgrade will be a semi again

The court is out for me on the semi's. I have two remington 1100, a beretta 391 ( Long store about the remingtons)And a Miroku MK38 sporter. What do i like the most, not sure on that one. The remingtons and great for ruff shooting becouse they are cheap and never miss a beat. The beretta well that spot on for skeet and sporting and i like the miroku for DTL and ABT. I have never had a problem with any of the guns. I just us a good 70mm cartridge. I do not do as much ruff as i would like and as for driven birds what the sport in that ?

My dad showed me how to shot and with that came some rules, like always shoot a rabbit on the run and NEVER sat, if it's not a sporting shot then dont take it.

Who woke this one up? :hmm:

I love the Miroku, I picked one up about 12 years ago and it just mounted like it was part of me, problem was it was around £4.5K then.

Beretta does for me these days, I have O/U and Semi, I love them both and for my line of work the Semi gets more use, but as it's a Beretta and works off gas recoil I hate and detest every second of cleaning it!

If it's ONE only and you do Pheasant etc stick with what you have, if it's for clays/pigeons/etc consider a Semi, but consider inertia loading as well, like Benelli! (all part of the Beretta Family)!

:good:

Had a go with TJ91's Hatsan today (cheers Joe) fantastic gun and I hit a pigeon with my first shot!

I am certainly going to invest in one in the near future, I couldnt believe how quickly it cycles!

Cheers,

Dave

Just watch you dont pull the trigger so quick next time you pick up a semi
