Grandalf
Another season of wildfowling, brushing, picking-up and enjoying myself is over. Now the price must be paid to the other half. I am very lucky in having a wife who encourages me to get out and do all these things whilst I still can. (I am getting on a bit and these activities, particularly the wildfowling, get harder every year). But now it will be painting, decorating, gardening and catching up on everything else that I have neglected since last September. She really is very tolerant. Puting up with clocks going off at 3.30am (as long as she doesn't have to get up) mud all over the house, dog paw marks on the new hall carpet, piles of wet hide-nets, decoys, jackets, hats, etc in her airing cupboard and in front of the AGA - to say nothing of the odd visiting fowler taking over the spare room. Then there is the driving me to and back from shoot dinners at the local pubs. Couldn't do it to the same scale whithout her total support. I wouldn't swap her for all the proverbial tea in China. How does you lady react to the season?
Devon Fox
Mine is very good to be fair - if am umming or erring over something she normally just says go fo it, your a long time dead! Like you I try to pay her back over the summer with a nice holiday and lots of days out! We are lucky boys by the sounds of it ( just wish I could get her beating!) PhilR
My wife shoots clays only now but used to shoot game occasionally. She's quite happy dealing with the birds I bring home, but draws the line at a rabbit or hare, although if they were gutted and out of their overcoats she'd do the rest. Now the game season is over we're gearing up for the clay season. She can shop for Great Britain and as long as her flexible friend is in her purse and we've a bank balance in the black she's happy. Hezbear
My girlfriends dad is a keeper so she doesn't care, if I've had a good day or night she will gut and clean the catch
ozzy518
My wife never minds me going out shooting...She has given me the bottom drawer of the freezer to store pigeons which I later use as decoys. She is a bit squeamish and somewhat a rabbit lover, so the only rules that apply is that I'm not allowed to tell her about how many rabbits got shot or to bring home any dead ones. Other than that she is very supportive.
RC45
My wife hates dead animals. She puts up with my shooting but moans when I shoot every day
leeds chimp
my lass does not mind me going out now as its something I enjoy and it means I am not going fishing and waking her up at 4.30am
Colster
Mine recently got her own shotgun and has lamped for me in the past and also shot a few bunnies herself. She can also gut and skin pretty much anything.
Grandalf
Yes,philr, I should have added that she also does all the 'butchery' except the geese. She wont do them as the feathers get all over her kitchen! (I have to pluck in the garage).
semiautolee
my wife loves me to go out, she says it gives her some piece and time to go shopping on the internet, with my card i must add the only thing she doesnt like is the smell of pigeon being cooked. , but now she has another mad shooter in the house as my youngest son is shooting mad like me, hes just to young to handle a gun, but he does eat all fur and feather thats killed with me and hes only 5! we would be lost without the wifes, but then again they would be lost without us shooting hubbys! silverhawk
My girlfriend nearly fell off the chair when i told her what i do for a hobby .She was wondering where i go some weekends so told her in the end took her once and after that she asked me when she can come along next.Shes shot pigeons and loves lamping bunnys with the airgun.she loves eating hare and pigeon not keen on rabbit though.she wants her own fac/shotgun ticket so she can help me with those pigeons and rabbits i think shes getting abit fed up with the airgun.Looks like im going to need a bigger cabinet . Salop Matt
My Mrs is pretty good and lets me out most of the time, Shes starting to get into clays ....BUT ...... She`s veggi, so she wont see anything shot other than clays and wont eat anything so I just keep all my shot stuff away from her and have a "bunny freezer" in the shed ! Its a shame as it would i would love her to be able able to come beating and occasionally have ago as lamper or driver when lamping. She also likes target shooting with the HMR and a bit of HFT with the air gun although we have only done it twice ! So a good egg really ! Off to view a shotgun for her this saturday which will take the last slot in the gun cabinet ! and ive been told I cant have another gun cabinet to keep expanding into ! HDAV
Mine is very supportive and encouraging, not a bad shot at clays either and i am certain a better shot with a rifle..... Haven't approached domestic butchery yet but may do in time..
PaulABF
She's cracking. I can be away for weeks / months at a time, return and on one occasion, be out the door 2 hrs later to get some bunny bashing in. I've been home for 2 weeks leave before and shot 10 days out of it. Couldn't ask for better. Well I could - one that would clean my guns for me.
Billy.
For a girlfriend who does not condone the shooting of bunnies and generally doesn't want a gun anywhere near her, she's always asking me if I'm out lamping or pigeon shooting. Very tolerant of fox brushes everywhere and dead animals in the car.
