harveykeitel22
went out foxing last night with a friend, and he wanted to try out his new night vision, he had just got, so anyway we pulled up to this field where we had been seeing this lamp shy fox,on one of our permission's, anyway, he picked it up after a couple min's, started calling it in, and he was getting ready to pull the trigger, then a knock knock on the window of the land rover, flashing his torch, 'o sorry lads didnt know it was you' then started chatting, christ we were angry afterwards. farmers hey lol
steve_b_wales
I always inform the farmer when I'm coming onto his land, either by phone or text, even though he says 'there's no need, just turn up'.
ben0850
Awkward lads but see it from our perspective, plenty of light fingered lifting going on at the moment..price of scrap is so high we have had gates nicked, feeders, troughs straight out of the fields so were always a bit on the outlook for vehicles etc

harveykeitel22
i can see it from the farmers view, about things getting nicked etc, but when your been after this fox for the past couple of weeks, and you have a weapon (Night vision), you can imagine how annoying it is, plus he could see the truck sit there from house,, we have been going on there for about the past 5 years, so he would of known the truck lol
silverhawk
When i first found my permission the farmer never wanted a txt just said help yourself but i still text him.If a person shoots on the land without permission and causes damage to property or worse with a firearm you could get the blame. This happen to a friend i used to work with and he lost a good farm. Its always best to let them know . Devon Fox
Its a pain - but thats life. The thing that happens to us a lot is a passing car sees us entering field with gun etc and starts beeping the ******* horn . We try to duck and cover so they cant see us but sometimes you get caught out - we just laugh now, no sense getting worked up.

What is more important to him, a rogue fox or the posibility of his stock or machinery disappearing. That is why like many others I always let a farmer know when I am going on his land no matter if I am required to or not! There will always be another night when Charlie makes a his fatal mistake anyway lads, that's part of the joys of shooting!

The Duncan
The thing we all remember is that we are effectively armed guests when on our permissions. I don't begrudge the landowners interrupting my shooting; I wouldn't have any without them. Granted though, some interruptions can be a tad vexing, but that's the way it goes! Lols. Most of my permissions have a bridleway running by or through them, so I have to be extra vigilant watching out for Joe public- they cause far more interruption than the owners and we have to be extra civil to them as we then become ambassadors for shooting too. Fisherman Mike
One of the Estates I shoot over has a stringent Health and Safety Policy which each shooter has a copy of together with a permit. Even then in the interests of H&S ( particularly in the event of a serious accident) we are required to inform the Landowners manager when we arrive and also when we leave the property.
