wildrover77
Vampire thanks for the comprehensive list of ideas, have to question the practicality of some though! I have been told to avoid dehumidifers and dessicants as they dry out wood. What sort of heater should I use in an insulated cupboard? aister
what about this from midway uk, GoldenRod Dehumidifier 18" Long (Protects 200 Cubic Feet) with Detachable Plug 110v Gold
tom_0787
You would need a transformer as they are 110v
stripey999
My guns have been in roof spaces in various houses for over 25 years and I always have silica sachets in them to remove moisture. The gun rests on foam gun dividers and sits on a carpet on the bottom. I have never had any issues with dry wood and neither have I had any problem with condensation etc! figgy
How do I store my guns in the roof space and keep them in good nick. How do you stop damp, mould and rust? A heater? A light bulb in the cabinet? I have three seperate caninets. I would put all the cabinets together then build a cupboard around them then heat the cupboard with a low wattage tube heater should keep the guns nice n cosy without drying the wood out. The climate in the cupboard should then be about the same as in the house.
ChrisAsh
I have been told by our local firearm's PC, that they don't allow loft/attic cabinets as people reluctant to put their guns away and leave them hanging around the house instead. must admit i think they may have a point
pat g
My brother has his cabinet in the loft. I remember installing it and the job it was actually getting it up into the loft. Must admit i would find it a chore going up and down the loft to access my guns but each and everyone to their own i suppose. Tbh i think your guns are better stored when your cabinet is in a room somewhere. A room temperature is better than a cold loft to my mind ATB Pat

The Burpster
All my guns wear appropriate pajamas to bed....... http://www.furfeatherandfin.com/index.asp-Q-I-E-intercept-protector-anti-corrosive-gun-storage-sleeve,5260867 No issues in roof space of last house, in fact you could not tell they had been stored whenever you took them out. Thoroughly recommend them.
