X-Ray of a Sound Mod

It is quite clearly fake as there is no recoil

It's a .22 pistol (and probably sub sonic), wouldn't expect much recoil. In the first sequence you can see slide traveling back. In the slow motion it is clear but staggered.

With a camera speed of 27 000 frames per second, I would think the weapon was in a clamp (the same way proving is done).

...Riiiiighhhhhhtttt

Someone's still celebrating Paddy's day :P

Whats the matter Billy?

That is fake beyond a shadow of a doubt. There is not an millimeter of movement on that gun. None whatsover. also why does the "X RAY" which doesn't penetrate metal only so through the outer skin of the silencer? why can you see straight through the tube but not the baffles or the barrel or any other part of the gun?

It matters not about the caliber or whether the gun is clamped, it will still recoil and movement would still be visible.

Stick that in your know it all ***** and smoke it

It could have the sides machined off and replaced with something transparent, or even a transparent complete outer casing.

As far as recoil goes, it if was in a proper clamp it wouldn't move, and even if it was on a flimsy table as long as the camera was mounted on the same table you wouldn't see recoil.

I just clicked on the "Watch in Youtube" link, and the answer is in the comments, from Silencerco, the manufacturer.

We machined a plastic tube made from bulletproof glass. Then used a high speed camera to shoot 30,000 frames per second.

So there you have it.

Really? ? ? ? :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

Sub sonics in a .22 pistol can be held still by a child.

Either you are just trolling or really don't believe anything that doesn't happen in front of you, (like the moon landing).

Want an easy argument? Try this lot :good:

Oh yes I am trolling,

Have you never heard of Newtons third law of motion? If you haven't then let me explain. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Therefore however small the "Subsonic .22" was there would still be recoil.

As for machining bullet proof glass into a silencer. Yeah right. The bullet proof glass I have used was several laminations with polymer interlayers. It had to be cut with a diamond saw and gallons and gallons of water. You would never have machined it into a sleeve for a moderator.

Still what do I know surrounded by so many EXSPURTS?

Perhaps the whole thing is a fake :hmm: But I still think it is quite possible to do.

The slide and spring of the pistol will absorb the bulk of the energy, the remaining force would not be enough to cause a clamped gun to move.

Powder and bullet manufactures test their products with small and large calibers clamped or a test rig with just a barrel and it doesn't move.

The bullet proof glass/plastic is a load of tosh. Why would it need to be bullet proof if you aren't going to shoot it?

All it has to do is hold a momentary bit of pressure. Quite easily done with most plastics. I have seen cool drink bottles with a small hole cut in the bottom gaffer tapped on a barrel to quieten down a gun and they stay intact.

This is just IMHO, and I am now bowing out.

Any one who feels like a myth buster can do the experiment. I would be keen to see their results.
