Gordon R
Take the barrels off. Stand them upright in your sink, with a cloth under them, to stop water leaking. Pour boiling water down the barrels. It goes without saying - be careful. Hold the barrels - I would use something to to stop your hand getting too warm. After 30 seconds, let the water out - job done. Spray some WD40 or similar down the barrel and outside to get rid of any water. Never failed yet. A few lads I shoot with used these carts in the past they liked them in plaswad variety. ATB figgy
bakerboy
I am not 100% sure, but don't you have to be careful with WD40 near the Blueing on Barrels ? I do not want to be alarmist , but I feel sure I read it somewhere on Pigeon Watch. Just a thought please do not shoot me if I am wrong. Spara Dritto
Well a big thank you to Gordon R the barrels are shiney! And a lesson well learnt. Many thanks for all the help and advice!
figgy
Does the plastic fowling just come off with the boiling water or do you still have scrub them, this method sounds quicker than a normal clean with chemical cleaners and elbow grease and better for health and wallet. kent
WD40 creeps and can totally remove silver solder as used on ribs / barrels, seen it remove the bolt handle off a nearly new remmington 700 before. It has no place in my gun box! with care it might be ok in the bore of a shotgun but why not use the right stuff
DSPUK
You need a SS turbo brush and set of alloy rods - cut a strip of green scouring pad and wrap it round turbo brush - put rods in drill - shove up barrel clean as whistle. dave
HDAV
does plastic fouling actually do anything other than make the inside of your barrels look a bit grubby? specifically chrome lined barrels?
Guest cookoff013
if you have plastic fouling then make your own shotgun bore cleaner 5-10% oil in white spirit. add acetone to final 10%. it cleans fouling very well. and removes plastic. its cheap too. about 2 quid for 500ml. that lasts ages. So far the bolt handle is well attached. If it can be used as solder remover they ought to market it as such if its so good as sounds like a good product Edited March 25, 2011 by al4x
