Devon Fox
T8 is what I have - no doubt others will be along to slate them Keep it clean (squirt of oil and left upright to drain - obviously off the gun) and it does the job just fine, they are always up for sale on here from £80 - 100 second hand. al4x
I've got a wildcat on mine and does the job well, not cheap though and not light. Fortunately its on a very light rifle so its not an issue but may be if you add it to an already heavy rifle and want to carry it about much
william
Had a wildcat and never got on with it, sold it and brought an ASE ultra jet. Best thing I ever did smaller doesn't shift zero which happened with my Wildcat noise reduction is much the same by my ears anyway !! Bowen20
I have got a wildcat pred 8 on my .223 and I'm impressed with it looks superb and it's nicely finished and very durable. Altho not very cheap and as said above not the lightest but it is strippable and I regularly clean mine and check the internals are fine if any of them do get damaged you can buy new internals and what not. Overall if I got another rifle like a .243 then I'd definitely get another one I preferr them to the t8 which look cheaply made and aren't strippable so if anything inside degrades you won't know till it's too late and then you can't buy new internals for them either so have to been thrown away. fizzbangwhallop
Ase Utra Jet Z - depending on what heads you use and the precision your thread is cut in relation to your bore, you may be ok with a .25 cal moderator - ie the 70grn and lighter heads are more stable as they leave the barrel, heavier heads may not be so stable and run the risk of clipping the baffles, so Jacksons recommend the next size up - best thing is to speak to them. If you've got a T4/T8 that's failed they'll give you a discount on a replacement, which doesn't have to be a T4 or 8. To me, the North Star wasn't as good as the Jet Z. Border Barrels do a stainless version of the T8 for a good price http://www.border-barrels.com/mym_silencers.htm That's me.. Had an early Wildcat, didn't suit me, changed to a T8, bliss. The Jet Z's are on my 250 and 300WM ATB FBW Edited March 26, 2011 by fizzbangwhallop
Dekers
Like I always sat the Predator 8 COMPACT, it solves most of the problems of size and weight and has exactly the same baffle set as the original monster version. Absulutely fine up to and including .308! Price wise for centrefire mods it is at the low/medium price end, there are plenty that are far more expensive! Frenchieboy
I was thinking about getting a DM80 in mine. Anyone use one that can say what they are like noise and weight wise please?
Dekers
I was thinking about getting a DM80 in mine. Anyone use one that can say what they are like noise and weight wise please? The Wildcat Predator 8 COMPACT does for me at the moment, and with the build quality and parts availability I am hoping they will last a good while yet. Nevertheless, I have used the DM80 rimfire mods, and other than the size and weight they were good. I know little about his centrefire mods, so I would be interested in some more info as well if anyone can enlighten us more. Cheers.
kent
I know the op isn't too bothered about weight as he is shooting from a truck, however my advice to anyone who carries thier gun and has to shoot offhand etc.ocasionally, consider balance a heavy gun can take more moderator up front than a lightweight gun which can become way too tippy and its not just the weight that creates this it's pushing the centre of balance forwards also. Mods have come a long way in the last 5-6yrs and one should try a few on the gun if you can before you part with your cash- theres a lot on the market now I am off to try one of those third eye jobbies shortly, having a T8 in the safe thats hardly been used and not used at all for a good five years. Nothing wrong with them durability wise if you give them a squirt every now and again (other than the smoke on your first shot) but some just won't do this and i have two mates who put holes in thiers as a result. there just unweildy things
